The Allamanda Beach Hotel is like home to us. Run by a wonderful family who treats their guests as family. The accommodations are clean and comfortable. The location in the middle of a 2+ mile white sandy beach and is perfect for swimming, walking, relaxing with friends who come back every year...or for snoozing under one of the large sea grape trees which provide shade. We can walk to nearby restaurants, banks, supermarkets, etc. It is easy to catch a local minivan-like bus to downtown St. George's or other parts of the island. What more can anyone need? The Allamanda has it all!

The front desk team was very nice but unfortunately even their warmth could not make up for the old and moldy feel of the place. The swimming pool was dirty and you could not go for a swim. It felt more like a motel than a resort. They give free breakfast but did not trust to eat it since the place felt so dirty.

I would not spend money on this hotel. The rate was not worth it. I will stay next door at the Raddisons or Coyoba. Now these were resorts. Allamada felt like a motel.

Positive were the friendliness of front desk and the walk to the beach. The path way was good.

Dont waste getting a beach front room as it all looks like garden view since all rooms are located far from the beach anyway.

Room Tip: Just taken Garden it is all the same view

Just 50 m from the Grand Anse Beach thus good located for a morning swing in the warm Caribbean water, then a shower topped up with a swim in the pool which is just beside the breakfast restaurant which also operates in the evenings as a restaurant. Rooms standard, WiFi works well in the lobby but does not reach all the rooms.

The Allamanda has a prime site right on and in the middle of Grand Anse Beach which must rate as one of the best in the Caribbean.
Bearing this in my mind then the price is reasonable when compared to the hotels adjacent to it.
The staff are friendly and the process of booking in and out was handled very efficiently.
It pretentiously calls itself a beach resort. It is a bulk standard hotel in small grounds albeit they are well maintained and attractive.
A plus point is that they provide sun beds fpr use on the beach and they have a small but adequate swimming pool. Having said that the beach is so close We would never have contemplated spending time by the pool.
The room was adequately sized had a comfortable king sized bed and was cleaned daily to a high standard. I was also impressed with air conditioning. it was efficient and, very importantly quiet.
A coffee machine was provided but the coffee packs weren't always provided and when they were seemed past their sell buy dates. The coffee tasted stale and on a number of occasions the milk powder had solidified and was unusable.
As a sweetener they offered a complementary breakfast. This was not a determinant to our booking the hotel and indeed it acted as a negative rather than a positive. The eggs and bacon were poorly cooked and on our first Thursday they apparently ran out of bacon and we were advised that they would have none until the following Monday. They gave us some ham instead which frankly was inedible. There was no fresh coffee only instant sachets and the fruit juice was of the cheap tinned variety. Thy didn't appear to make any effort either with presentation or the quality. We in fact stopped having it and went to the excellent La Boulangerie Restaurant a couple of minutes walk away.
Overall our stay was enjoyable but there is definite room for improvement

Room Tip: All the rooms appear to have attractive views.

We stayed at the Allamanda for two nights, one each at the beginning and end of our sailing trip. The price/performance of the Allamanda for the area is spot-on. Rooms are large and well appointed (we had a king bed), and the air conditioning works very well. It's a short walk to the beautiful white sand beach (very lively), which has excellent swimming. There are a few nearby beach restaurants which, while not cheap, serve very good food.

We booked with the hotel directly, and got breakfast (basic, but effective) included for $120 US. I believe this was still in the low season.

WiFi internet works fine also. There's an onsite pool (very clean) and restaurant (we didn't try it, however). The grounds are pretty and well kept, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. No hesitation in staying there again!

Room Tip: Most rooms near the lobby seem to be identical, no matter which floor. If it matters, you can ask for a room with the balcony facing a little more north so as to maximize shade.
