We spent the first seven nights of our honeymoon here - it was a really relaxing spot with gorgeous design in rooms and public areas. The pool area is fabulous, even if the water level is a little shallow. The beach area is lovely and quiet, and the water crystal clear. I've seen previous comments about the shallowness of the water - but if you keep an eye on the tide table near the bar area and you'll see which is the best time for a slightly deeper swim. It seemed to be mostly couples here and very few kids, so it was a good choice for a honeymoon hotel. In terms of nearby restaurants, our favourites (especially for me as a vegetarian) were Sawasdee for Thai about 10 minutes walk to the left and Curry Night across the road for Indian. It's handy having a mini mart and pharmacy across the road, but otherwise this area is pretty quiet - not a busy strip. The hotel menu doesn't have a great selection for vegetarians and beware the bits of eggs that will appear in rice and noodle dishes, despite it not being listed as an ingredient - it would be good if the hotel could rectify this by mentioning this on their future menus. I had a gorgeous chickpea salad for breakfast one morning - maybe they could incorporate this on the menu too along with other protein-rich options? Their express check-out system wasn't a great experience for us, nor the fact that we were totally forgotten about during check-in and had to remind them we were still waiting, especially after such a long flight. Otherwise, a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: We had a sea view room on third floor but view was slightly obstructed as room was on an side angle...

Stayed here for 4 nights and upgraded to a suite. Well worth the extra money we paid. Lovely pools and friendly staff. The only negative was the price of breakfast. This was 700 bahts per person. Having stayed at the renaissance and paid the same price the choice was less than a third so not worth it. Hotel chains really do need to look at the competition out there and offer guests the best price for the quality offered? We didn't eat any other meals in resort so cannot comment on the quality. We would recommend this hotel...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 8 nights and loved every minute of it. We opted to get upgraded to a Pool Villa for a small daily charge (still significantly cheaper than actually booking the Pool Villa directly). We were not disappointed, these villas are huge! The beds are very comfortable and there are a few lounges (one inside and one outside) as well as some sunbeds on the balcony. The pool is lovely and nice and clean and really great to relax. The other pools in the hotel are all also very nice especially when the tide is in, it is nice to look out to the ocean. The swim up bar is great also especially at happy hour. Good wifi throughout the resort too.
The beach is absolutely lovely when the tide is in, it is very warm and relaxing as it is very calm waters and quite shallow. As others have mentioned, the tide does go out a fair way but the pools in the resort are great so we just went to them when the tide was out. The resort has noticeboards around the pool showing when the tides are in for the current and following day to help you plan things if you like. The beach is private and has a security guard walking around and also has lots of lounges and the bar staff will come and serve you there if you wish.
The food in the resort is quite good and reasonably priced. It seems to all be made in the one kitchen as it is the same menu for room service as is at the restaurants and everything we had was delicious and well presented (we had about 90% of our meals in the resort over our time spent here). There are a few restaurants across the road from the resort too if you want something different. The only thing I would suggest is that if breakfast isn't included in the price of your room, don't bother as it is quite expensive (the buffet anyway, a la carte isn’t so bad) and though nice, not really worth over $20 each. We had a little bit of a miscommunication as we thought the lady said when we checked in that breakfast was only 350 baht each however when we went were charged 600 baht each. We questioned this and the restaurant staff didn't really know anything about it so we let it drop and just didn't come back for breakfast again. This was actually our most expensive meal at the resort (including dinners which we had drinks with as well). One of the restaurants across the road does breakfast and there is a 24 hour convenience store also so easy to sort alternatives :)
The location is quite far away however we liked this as we wanted a quiet and relaxing holiday. There are a few shops and restaurants and the aquarium in Cape Panwa easily walking distance from the resort and the resort does run a shuttle to Phuket town in the afternoons and to Patong at night. We got our transfer back to the airport organised through the resort which was simple to do, reasonably priced and in a very nice car.
Overall we had a fantastic holiday and loved staying here. We would definitely stay here again and hope to come back!

Room Tip: If you can, go for a pool villa as they are amazing!

We are a family of 4. We stayed there 21-27 March, 2014. We reserved 2 "Funtastic Family packages". Our package has several provisions of which the staff were unaware. For instance, although it says "kids eat free" the staff at The restaurant added their meals to the bill and refused to correct their mistake. I had to run back and forth to the front desk to get it sorted out. Also, although the package "in room movie with snacks". We had to ask the duty manager to print out our reservation before he would agree.

In short, there is a communications breakdown between the people devising and selling the packages and the rest of the staff. Every time we wanted something done according to the package conditions, we had to explain AGAIN! Oh, and the 50% off drinks with the club Carlson card promotion which appear on the hotel website? 3 explanations required for that, before being told we could only use it once!

Then there was the checkout. When our bill arrived, there was an 800 baht charge for transportation to the airport which was included in our package, and two unexplained charges which weren't even our room number. By this time I'd gotten the measure of the place, so I took the bill back, explained the problem, and then went and had breakfast. I thought it would take them about an hour to straighten it out. After breakfast a new bill was produced with the charges removed. No "I'm sorry sir, please accept our apologies", just "here's your bill". At least the charges were removed, so I paid that and confirmed that the van would be ready to take us to the airport. As we were getting into the van to go, somebody appeared with the old bill and asked us to pay it! Not a very pleasant goodbye to say the least. At no time did anybody ask if we had enjoyed our stay or if we had had any problems.
Last negative thing, we'd really rather not share my breakfast with the feral cats in the restaurant.

On the positive side, the facilities are amazing. The pools are fantastic and very well maintained. Our room (Junior Suite) had an awesome view of the bay and a large terrace. Special commendation to the staff of the kids' club, our children loved going there. They had a large variety of activities prepared, they didn't just put on a video and forget about them. There are also a number of very good restaurants nearby, including two places right across the street.

A wonderful resort for a 'drop n flop' vacation. Set on huge grounds, right on Panwa Beach, this property has more than enough creature comforts to satisfy all. From beautifully appointed rooms, choices of restaurants, fine pools. Great!

When we booked our holiday we were looking for luxury and that's exactly what we got with this hotel. On arrival we were given a drink and taken to our room. The entire hotel has free wifi, although for some reason it didn't work as well on my iPhone as my boyfriend's Sumsung.

We had a deluxe seafront room which came with a huge bed, TV, huge shower, bath, separate toilet, wardrobe and vanity area for me to my make up etc. we also had a balcony with tables, chairs and an outdoor sofa.

The 2 infinity pools are basically one on top of the other, lovely and clean and the top one has 4 shaded beds if you want to relax out of the sun. Plenty of loungers and free towels. The private beach is about a 5-10 second walk from the pool. There is another pool further back and a tiny pool with a slide.

The main downsides of the pool/beach where that the poolside faces north, meaning the sun is only ever on one side of you. We easily got round this by moving our loungers about throughout the day. Also the beach is ruled by the tide. At high tide the water looks gorgeous but is very shallow (max up to my waist and I'm 5'1") but when the tide is low the water retreats very far out and you're left with less than a picturesque view... No chance of swimming or even dipping a toe.

Coming in February (term time) to a 5 star resort we thought we would avoid the C word... Children. Sadly not the case.

We ventured to most of the other beaches and areas during our stay and can safely say ours was by far the quietest. Opposite the hotel there is a couple of restaurants, a bar, a convenience store, 2 massage shops and a taxi rank. About a 10 minute walk from the hotel is the beach front boasting and other handful of restaurants and a few small stalls. Quiet, but nice if you fancied staying local. Having visited the more bustling places, although we had fun, we were glad to get back to our nice peaceful hotel!

The rep we had was also brilliant, Marco from Deitelm Travel (booked through trailfinders). We were with him nearly an hour as he gave us amazing insight into the surrounding areas, restaurants, markets etc, as well as what to pay for various items and services. We booked our trips through him, but when we expressed worry about one of the long transfers, he even arranged an alternative trip, not in the brochure for us, which left far closer by. He couldn't have been more helpful!

The one downside of this hotel was the front of house staff. On several occasions we had trouble booking things, arranging things, and most worryingly, when we were informed our luggage was to be kept in a secure room, we found them on the pavement outside the hotel! Passport and British purse ripe for the taking. We complained to the manager but he did nothing to apologise, I don't think he knew why we were upset - not something I'd expect from a 5 star international branded hotel!
