Is the little things that made this place awesome. Mosquito repellant in the room and many other small touches. The rooms were great, grounds beautiful, staff fantastic especially Fha in the restaurant. She was always smiling and laughing.
I was worried that the resort was a bit out of the way but a taxi stand right outside and lots of small ships a 3 minute walk away for the essentials. The hotel also runs one way shuttles to the local shopping Centre. The food in the restaurant is great although breakfast was sometimes repetitive and the bacon a bit rubbery but that is the only small thing I can think of that is a negative. There are canoes with paddles and life vests to take out which I recommend - it was beautiful. Thanks to all at the mangrove for a wonderful week!

Firstly I need to stress that the staff were actually excellent at this place. They were very helpful and paid close attention to what suited you, for example: when my partner and I ordered room service (which is the same price as the restaurant menu big thumbs up) and we picked out things we weren't overly keen on in the meal they would put less in when you would order again. That's a pretty lame example but that is still pretty impressive. Also, one staff member in particular at the desk can speak amazing English she's young and very bubbly! There's one pool and one restaurant only so I suggest if you're after something with a bit more adventure than just tanning and swimming you should probably look for one with more facilities. This place didn't have a gym unfortunately but otherwise I still had a good time.

We spent two nights here as part of a group discount voucher. We expected it to be fairly mid-range especially based on some reviews that noted how remote it was.

When we arrived we were blown away with the place. It's about 15 minutes drive out of Phuket town and is stunning. It's set in the mangroves with a fantastic vista. The staff were all superb. There were some language barriers but they were friendly and patient and everything was understood even if it took 2 or 3 goes.

The whole place is villas and they were very nice and well laid out, each with a private verandah overlooking the bay. Comfortable and spacious.

The food was very good though we only had Thai food. The pizzas looked tasty but we tend to eat local dishes when travelling. The grog was good, I just had beer but my wife had cocktails which she thought were very tasty. There is a 1-2pm lunch and 6-7pm dinner happy hour with 2 for 1 drinks, which we made the most of :)

A nice little tidbit was the large chess set on the grounds, one where you have to pick the pieces up and carry them around. Makes for a fun happy hour activity.

Massages on the grounds were cheap, though not as cheap as the ones available in town. We paid the equivalent of AU$20 or so for one hour massages.

We're definitely going back next time we're in Phuket, and will be recommending this to friends and family. If remoteness is a problem for you then maybe not a good choice but everything else was fantastic and the taxi fares were nominal anyway.

Ted

A very wonderful place to sit back and relax.. fantastic view and the quaint interior design of the villa is beautiful ... food can be improved though (eg to have fresh juices) . Overall thumbs up!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Actually we booked for 2 deluxe pavilions which were advertised to be stand alone pavilions rather than rooms on the building. We were assigned in rooms on the second floor of the road side building which is far from the sea. It was a nightmare for elderly people to walk up and down stairs to the restaurant, swimming pool and the seafront.

Service was just fair. There was not enough staff to help during check-in and out. No one helped us with the luggage.

However, the room was spacious and functional. There was no living area in the room so you would have to sit just on the bed to relax. They did not replace a new set of cotton buds for me on the second day which I think it was below average of service standard.

The resort was cozy and quiet as it was hidden and far away from everything. You need a car to stay here. Except a swimming pool and a spa, there is no other activity available at the resort.
