“It doesn't get much better than this.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2012 for a stay in October 2012

We, three couples from Finland, visited the place in mid October escaping the dreary northern autumn.

And what a wonderful place The Glasshouse is! The pictures looked very promising indeed, and also the price seemed right. And believe me, I had looked hard and long at the huge selection of villas in Thailand.

The place is exactly as described. The pictures show a beautiful house standing on a hillside overlooking the sea. And when you arrive, everything is as you expect, even more so. What makes this villa stand out from many others are the glass walls facing the ocean. Wherever you stand inside the house you can admire the sea, be it the kitchen, the dining area, the bedroom ( the smaller third bedroom faces the back of the house, though) or poolside. My wife and I slept in the master bedroom and never closed the curtains because of the fantastic view directly from the bed. The adjoining huge bathroom also had windows facing the sea, so you could brush your teeth or take a bath and enjoy the scenery at the same time.

Another very pleasant feature of the house is its styling. Coming from Scandinavia we prefer streamlined, not too "loud" architecture. This place is elegant and stylish with its white walls, black and white stone floors and beautiful parqueting in the bedrooms. Lots of air and light. To crown it all the place is furnished in good taste. We really injoyed the Thai artefacts such as paintings, sculptures, and smaller objects - a very nice touch of Thailand in the otherwise international styling.

All the equipment is first-class. The kitchen is perfect for home cooking with its good-quality appliances and kitchenware. And outside a large grill is so nice if you want to prepare barbecued meals, which we also did. Inside, home entertainment equipment is up to the task with the home theatre in the living room and wi-fi everywhere in the house. But we hardly watched TV or listened to audio because of the tempting pool and the fantastic view, simply didn't want to stay inside.

The service that comes with the house is swift and efficient. Whatever the problem, the housekeeper would immediately address it with politness and a smile. The house is not new but has been kept in very good condition, so you don't have to worry about tear and wear. It is cleaned twice a week (including the pool), which was plenty enough for us.

And then finally the situation. The Glasshouse stands in a very secluded place on a quiet road with a superb view over the sea. So you can enjoy beautiful days and quiet evenings by the pool or on the balconies with almost only the sounds of nature as company. The downside is that shopping means taking a taxi (there is a taxi service right next door, inexpensive and very helpful). A very nice secluded beach is only a five-minute walk away. This beach also provides eg Thai massage . Within walking distance of the villa there are also at least three restaurants.

I would recommend The Glasshouse wholeheartedly to anybody who wants a beautiful house in beautiful surroundings but not the hustle and bustle of so many Thai holiday resorts and cities. You won't be disappointed.

“The Glasshouse is the perfect holiday setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2012 for a stay in October 2012

What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get. An enormous and beautifully maintained and cared for home. Anything small that went wrong (gate got stuck and washing machine would not open) was immediately resolved. The pool is immaculately maintained and the garden is beautiful.
The welcome breakfast package and details of the surrounding area are most helpful.
The pool is simply wonderful and the views are out of this world.
The villa is in a slightly removed location, but suited us fine. It was close enough to Phuket town to get out for dinners and there are sweet little local restaurants in the area to enjoy nice lunches at.
Taxi's (although expensive) are easy to book and reliable. Khun Bao is nothing but helpful and friendly.
We would all like to return as the kids had a ball and the adults had a wonderful break. The beaches nearby are not the best that Thailand has to offer, but suited us down to the ground. We nipped off to Kata beach for one day to get some waves and some action, but were very happy to spend another two days exploring the beach area around the villa.
We would not have changed a thing except to extend our stay by a few more days!

“A world apart”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012

Having been to Phuket a few times over the last 10 years I must say I had never considered Panwa thus far. I highly recommend the location no matter what your status, friends or family, as in reality you are never more than a few minutes from anywhere in Phuket. Often it is hard to tell exactly what the surroundings of the villa will be, however spruced up the photos and gumpf may be, but in this case you will absolutely not be disappointed....a true gem. The villa itself is exactly as in the photos and offers a marvelous environment for a holiday. 5 stars !!

“10 days in a wonderful villa!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We stayed at the house for 10 days. We had a wonderful time there. There are so much to tell about the house and our stay there. Short i will tell about some pros and cons.

Bao the taxa driver living really close to the house was SO friendly and sweet. He drove us around the hole time, we never used anybody else. He could take care of anything for us. Wait when we went shopping and so on. And his english is good, so no problem there. I would recommend using him when you stay there.

The house is lovely, but there are some light that need to be fixed around the house. No big deal, but still a little annoying.

If you are expecting beach life, i would not recommend renting this villa. But for the family that was privacy and quiet surroundings then it is perfect.

Over all we had a great stay there, but to much rain during our stay. But thats the monsoon rain in july.

A beautiful house which has superb views, a great pool, lovely gardens and is well loved and looked after. The views are fantastic and it's a few steps from 2 beautiful quiet and relatively untouched beaches with a few local restaurants. Boats or taxis can be taken if you're in need of some more action. Highly recommend and would love to stay there again.

“Glasshouse villa - a guest review. Stayed between Oct 7th and Oct 19th 2011.”

In the beginning of October 2011 we visited Phuket and stayed for twelve days in Glasshouse villa located in Panwa cape area.

Let me start with a process of booking. Although booking can be made online, the payment has to be carried out manually via bank wire. 50% of rent is supposed to be wired at the time of booking and 50% one month prior to arrival. There is also a security deposit taken in cash upon arrival. You would also have a 6000 THB allowance on the electricity. During our twelve-day stay we used twice as much. So it would be a good idea to have some local currency handy when you are checking out to pay the difference. Speaking of electricity, all power points in the house are universal so you don't have to think about any adapters, just go ahead and plug your gadgets in. :-) Speaking of what is included supplies-wise: all bed linen, bathroom and beach towels etc are included and they change them every 3-4 days. All disposables like toilet paper, paper towels and detergents for kitchen and laundry, soap etc are on you. Housekeeping is happening every morning.

Location. The villa is located in a quiet area on the southern tip of the island, the Panwa cape. The villa is situated uphill cr 30 meters above the sea level so there is no direct access to the beaches. There are two beaches within walking distance from the villa. We stayed there at the very end of the wet season and the closest beach was unusable; all muddy and covered with garbage washed down by rains and washed up by sea tides. The other beach Ao-Yon is five minutes lazy walk down the road. This one is very clean and well-protected from the waves. It is also a small marina with couple of dozen boats anchored and there is a pearl farm in there. This beach we were using during our stay and would never regret it. There are white plastic beach beds available on that beach free of charge.

A few words about the villa itself. What you see on the pictures online is actually what you get. It is big. :-) And it is all glass and marble. Three good-size bedrooms with possibility to accommodate an extra single bed for a child if need be in two of them. Fourth bedroom is with two singles and is quite small. It also shares a shower and toilet facilities with one of the bigger bedrooms. I have to say this one was quite noisy because of air-conditioning compressors sitting just outside. So I would not count on this one as on a full-featured bedroom, maximum it is good for is to be a kids room.

All bedrooms are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, wardrobes, flat-screen TVs. We would only use one large TV downstairs in the living area though. All but one bedrooms are on the upper floor. One bedroom is on the lower level and has a direct access to the swimming pool. Kitchen, dining area and living area are all on the lower level with direct access to the swimming pool and a garden from the living area, which is very convenient. All furniture is very solid. made of wood and may be quite heavy to move around. Although we didn't have a need for that. :-)

Kitchen is well-equipped with most of the essential appliances available and also silver, plates, cups, pods etc. The only big thing missing is a dishwasher. Kitchen sink is quite a monstrous thing and very uncomfortable to use. You basically get wet from waist to toes any time you decide to wash your dishes. It should IMO be replaced with a modern one and a dishwasher. There is also an external kitchenette at the back of main kitchen for cooking outdoors and a mobile BBQ place with LP-gas near the swimming pool.

Swimming pool area is nice and spacious with a cozy pavilion by the pool. The pool itself is equipped with jacuzzi. Views from the upper and lower levels and the pool area are across the Chalong bay and quite magnificent, especially on sunsets.

The villa is surrounded by a nice and well-groomed garden with walking paths and stairs around the house.

There is an internal parking space by the gate for two cars. Loundry is in the basement together with yet another double bedroom and some core facilities like water pumps, main circuit breakers etc.

Air-conditioning is something worth beware of in this villa. Even with a mild +32C outside, the master-bedroom air-conditioner started to leak after a while. It may be worse during the hot season so the best way to operate them is to try and lower an internal temperature by one C degree at a time. Say if you have 29C in you master bedroom, set the thing to 28C and wait until it goes down to that reading, then go for 26C etc. Don't go straight for 23C when it is 29C in the room, the compressor will die on you. Happened twice to us.

To their respect the maintenance team is quick to fix the breaks and usually very friendly. We didn't have any problems with them.

Local taxi master Khun Bao and his family deserve a bunch of special words. This guy and his family live just 50 meters down the drive-way. He is the one who would meet you at the airport on arrival and see you off on your departure. He is also a sort of dedicated taxi drive for villa customers. This was very handy for us since we decided not to rent a car and the villa is quite remote from any sort of entertainment spots. So we would give Khun Bao a call about two hours in advance and he'd drive us wherever we wanted to go. He'd also wait for us there and drive us back home if we had such plans. He also has a large mini-van for 10 people so it was very convenient to use his service when we were to go out all together. He would also charge us less that regular taxi prices which was nice. Last but not least, both himself and his family are very friendly folks and we are very thankful for all their help.

To conclude, I am not going to waste your time describing pros and cons of having holidays on Phuket, they are mostly pros. :-) We enjoyed sun and warm sea, local cosine, getting to know a bit of a Thai culture, scuba diving and riding speed boats. And since it also was a family and friends gathering, we enjoyed staying at the Glasshouse which definitely added an extra quality to our holidays.

“want a millionaire holidays ?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2011 for a stay in September 2011

we are a group of 5 persons and we wanted a bedroom for each, hence the choice of the villa. Indeed it has 4 wonderful bedrooms : one master bedroom with private bathroom and terrasse, one 2nd bedroom with private terrasse, one 3rd bedroom more common which shares a bathroom with the 2nd bedroom, and a 4th bedroom on the ground floor with direct access to the swiming pool. The 5th bedroom is on the basement with private bathroom and private entry. There are TV on 3 of the bedrooms but with dvd only (no tv channels). The TV on the living room has access to satellite tv. A maid cleaned the house every day. And the manager, Mrs Khun Pond, can be joined by mobile phone very easily for any problems. The basement is very very huge ! With a washing machine and a drying machine. The pool is 1.5m deep (same level) with a mini jacuzzi, the sala where we had most of our lunch and dinner is equipped with a music system. Great for relaxing/BBQ around the pool ! From the villa the view is great. On the top of a hill and giving to the west, we have a view to Chalong Bay, and marvelous sunsets. The villa has a quick access to the beach (5mn walk) : sand beach but quite dirty (with cans and bottle necks, from Chalong Bay, certainly !), on the left side of the beach : rocks with crabs and small fishes. There are several restaurants at 15 to 30 mn walk from the villa. But we prefer to cook our meals ourselves. While visiting Phuket Town or Patong we also went to supermarket (Big C, Tesco Lotus) The villa is quite secluded (don't even think of walking to the nearest shop ! 1 hour walk minimum, composed by hills with slopes at 30%). The taxi service just below the villa is quite expensive. So I would advice for another taxi service : Mr Prasat is THE man to contact - very kind, very professional, knowing perfectly the area [he has a guide license], and has reasonable price. (he has his own website : www.Phuket-Taxi-Meter.com) In overall I highly recommend this villa : beautiful villa (the photos are not "photoshoped". No need !) well equipped, wonderful view.
