A typical seafood based Thai cafe, not fancy but cheap, that sits on the main corner leading into the Cape Panwa seaside road (not a long road, and terminates at the Phuket Aquarium). It has open sides, and the night we were there, a gentle cooling breeze was making its way through. The decor is rustic and cheerful, with timber tables, a water feature, some climbing vines, and the like. The menu was dominated by seafood but also included a few other Thai dishes, and some others to satisfy the more Western palate. We ordered some cold drinks and delved into the menu.
I chose a steamed whole fish with ginger, chilli, pineapple and a few other Thai vegies. It came out sitting in a fish-shaped metal tray over a bed of hot coals. The fish was ok, but the sauce was delicious.
My partner had a prawn (shrimp) dish with cashews and vegies in a soy based sauce, and pineapple rice, which came out in a hollowed out pineapple!!! Very cute.
The meals were tasty, although I thought the fish was a little overpriced. We declined sweets and instead, walked up the road for a gelato.
