“Our favourite place to relax!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

This was our third visit to the Cape Panwa hotel and we liked it as much now as we did on our first visit!! We are now planning our next visit in 2015!! I am not sure why I haven't thought to do a review before now as we tell everyone to visit here!!

There is nothing better than being picked up by the shuttle at the airport after a day of travelling by a person with a huge smile and then arriving at the hotel to even more smiles, sincere welcomes and a refreshing cool cloth and fruit drink!!

We booked 10 nights in a Cape suite and it was great!! Huge king size bed in a large room with lounge, coffee table, TV that could be viewed from the couch or the bed, a lovely bathroom with shower and tub, a wonderful balcony where you could see the hotel pier and the beach, a spa bath that was fun to use in the rain storm we had during our stay!!

Our room was serviced daily and a big thank you to Pinyo who cleaned our room and was always smiling and happy to have a chat.

We booked breakfast with our room and there was not a morning we were disappointed with the selection being offered. The staff were always there refilling tea and coffee, clearing plates and welcoming everyone as they came in.

Daily we made use of the shuttle that runs every 20 minutes from the hotel to bay where there is a store, coffee shop and numerous places to eat. You can also make use of atms, cash exchange, book tours, get taxis, visit the Phuket aquarium or just walk along the waterfront. There are also on most nights food stalls and small market stalls where you can buy bits and pieces.

The hotel has a wonderful spa 'Cape Spa" where you can go and have any type of treatment you can think of!! We had aroma massages here and they were wonderful!! Just make sure you book early in the day or the day before to get a spot as they get quite busy. But don't worry if you can't get in here as there are at least a dozen other places over the hill where you can get massages. Our favourite place outside of the hotel to get a massages was "Diva".

On our visit this time we had the opportunity to take part in the Thai cooking class offered by the hotel we had such a great time!! My husband and I cooked a wonderful 3 course meal and it was really interesting talking to the chef about some of the differences in the herbs they use. A huge thank you to Chef Kan who took time out of his day to help teach us some delicious dishes!!

While staying at the hotel we also used the shuttles they offer to go into Patong Beach and Central Festival Shopping Centre they also have shuttles that will take you into Phuket village. You can also get the reception staff to book you a taxi to the weekend night markets which are worth a visit. We took advantage of hiring a car with driver for 3 hours and it took us where ever we wanted to go!! Which was great as we headed up to the big Budha and over to Kata beach for a look.

It sounds like we did a lot on our trip but really we spent most mornings down by the beach and using the pool that they also have down there. They have a very handy cable car that runs up and down to the beach as required, we usually were down there before it started for the day so to get a little exercise we walked down to the beach and caught the car back up!! There are plenty of beach chairs and towels to use and friendly staff who will bring you drinks as you bathe in the sun!!

While on holidays we don't tend to use hotel restaurants and prefer to eat out which we did this time as well. There are a number of places near by that are excellent and I have written reviews for them already. However this visit we did make use of the restaurant for afternoon teas and had one evening meal which was delicious!!!

Cape Panwa is a place where you can go to relax and not stress about what is going on in the world. If you want to go to a place where you are tripping over staff, want constant attention and want to be in the centre of all the action go somewhere else!!

At Cape Panwa the staff are always friendly and will help with whatever you need (thanks Tim Laven). And sometimes it takes a little longer to get a drink you may have ordered but it does come and it is cold!!

I would recommend to anyone a visit to Cape Panwa and we can't wait to go back!!

The cape panwa hotel exceeded mine and my partners expectations. We were greeted by happy faces and our suitcases were taken to our rooms. We were shown the layout of the hotel and to our room by a young lady named Korakot who was always smiling and willing to help. The hotel rooms are cleaned everyday and you are given complimentary bottles of water everyday day. The housekeep staffing were outstanding and on one occasion she had put my wet bikini and towel out to dry which was extremely thoughtful.

The breakfast was AMAZING!! The omelettes are delicious and there is a wide range of food to cater for everyone. The fruit juices were also very nice and the hotel staff were always around to top up your coffee/tea.

The hotel also has a range of restaurants. Our favourite was 'Cafe andaman'. A staff member named along the lines of 'Thom....' (i didn't have my glasses on lol) was always friendly and hardworking. The thai green curry was the best i have ever had and was so tasty. The steak was also amazing here and the pasta dishes as well as burgers and sandwiches. The food at the hotel is inexpensive considering the amazing quality of food compared to the UK. Cocktails were also amazing here. The chocolate and mint mouse dessert is amazing also!

The swimming pool area was lovely although some hotel guests would attempt to reserve sun beds by leaving their towels on them and then they would disappear for a while and come back which is unfair on other guests. They would return to their towels in the tree as my partner did not agree hehe . However this is not a fault of the hotel.

The beach was absolutely outstanding. There was always sun beds available and kayaking was free(even if you do capsized hehehe). The corals in the water were annoying but nothing worth crying about as other reviews have. The beach bar sells cocktails and coconuts which are perfect. The water is a beautiful shade and the sand is so fine. You can also see little almost transparent crabs on the beach. There is a pool on the beach however we did not use this.

The hotel offers free wifi in public places including the pool and the beach which is rare. All you need to do is get a code from the reception daily.

The hotel has a shuttle bus which takes you down the hill to shops near kantary bay. I would highly recommend cafe kantary as it had amazing iced coffees, ice-cream and cheap ham and cheese toasties for only 60 baht! Next to the cafe is a small supermarket which sells all essentials.

The hotel also offers daily taxis to patong, phuket town and central festival for around 200baht.
The taxi to patong was at half 7 and left around half 11. Patong was extremely busy and stall owner tend to pester you which became abit annoying particularly because it was so humid! The coffee shop on bangla road served amazing food and drink. Patong is definitely for those who prefer wild nighlife.

Phuket town weekend market was exactly what we wanted and how we imagined. It had everything from knockoff goods to authentic thai clothing. It had a good atmosphere.

Central festival was similar to any shopping centre and had a kfc, mcdonalds and starbucks etc.

while in phuket you must go on the phi phi island boat trip it was amazing. Also elephant trekking.

We will definitely be back as Cape panwa was perfect!

This hotel was probably at its best around a decade ago. It's good. The pool is nice, the beach is lovely, the food and drinks are good...
It has lots of friendly staff, but they are quite ineffective. You have to wait an age for service and then it takes time. It took me 20 mins to check out at 4am with 2 members of staff all to myself!
The water is warm, the food spicy and the beer cold, so i would go again, but the staff need to be a little more attentive.

Room Tip: get higher up for a better chance of a sea view as the banana trees are tall!

We had a very pleasant stay at Cape Panwa hotel, from the moment we arrived at the airport we were greeted by a friendly taxi driver for a transfer to the moment we were returned.
Some context first: I arrived with my girlfriend with little research done about Phuket, and nothing booked except the flights and the hotel for 7 nights. We just new the basic places to check out e.g. Patong, Phuket town and Phi Phi Islands.
At first we were worried it would be hard to get anywhere from the hotel but you soon learn there is a free shuttle that runs up and down the road to a place with more restaurants, ATMs, taxi drivers and even a local bus stop where you can travel for 50 baht to phuket town with the locals ( we didn't try it since we found out so late). We got a tuk-tuk back from Patong for 600 baht at after midnight hours so it's not too expensive to get around.
We did a bunch of tours all which had no problem with picking us up at Cape Panwa.
We booked and researched a lot on my laptop using the in-room wifi which was very fast- fast enough to blitz through a few lessons in Thai on youtube on the night we arrived.
I highly recommend a massage at Cape Spa, they are very professional there.

Room Tip: T-Block for a junior suite..

Booked this hotel after going through numerous reviews and it was pretty much as what everyone said it is....lovely beachfront area and we stayed in the Cape Suite which gave us good views of the ocean front. The not so good -service left a few things to be desired alongside room amenities (u have to request for toothbrushes which we found rather odd). The good - the room was nice and spacious and our little one enjoyed running around the compound. The bed was also big, comfortable with fluffy pillows that gave us a good nites rest.

The hotel sits atop a little hill but there's a shuttle service that brings you down if you want your street food fix at "normal" prices. Wouldn't mind coming back here again!

The location of this hotel, together with the natural beauty of its lush surroundings, is part of what keeps us coming back to this tucked-away gem on the South East tip of Phuket. Have been coming here as a family now for 20 years, and find it a perfect place to unwind. We stayed in one of the Pool Villas, with two bedrooms, and were greeted every day by maid service that left our towels as a different "animal" every day. The elephant was our favourite! It is sad to see so many of the old staff, that had been there for many years, leaving, as they lent a certain continuity to the place, and were brilliant! The only small criticism I have is that over recent years, and with the exit of some of the regular staff, the level of English has fallen dramatically, together with the attitude of some of the newer staff. Those old familiar faces that have been kept on, are however, absolutely priceless, both in service and smiles, and make us feel more like family than guests. Overall, highly recommended, for pure relaxation in a tropical hideaway.

Had room L211 which is. Great block to be in. Higher would be even better but can't complain. The Cape Suites are gorgeous. The only thing missing is an iron and ironing board. There is an ironing room but can't be bothered going there. It really is a lovely hidden away hotel. Friendly staff good food, great location. Stunning private beach with no need to worry about getting a sunbed, pool right by beach and bigger pool up by the main reception. Tram takes you down into village all day where there are several good restaurants to eat at and Sunset bar is a great find. Indian restaurant is excellent and Sawasadee really good. Taxis into Phuket town available cheap down by the village with return visit and wait while you are out the best way to book. Haggle on the price a bit. We took a boat trip to Phang Nga bay and James Bond Island with Simba Sea Tours- check them out on the web- a little more expensive but worth it. Not finished our holiday yet but will be back sometime as it is a special place even when it rains as it did today.
