This was our third visit to the Cape Panwa hotel and we liked it as much now as we did on our first visit!! We are now planning our next visit in 2015!! I am not sure why I haven't thought to do a review before now as we tell everyone to visit here!!
There is nothing better than being picked up by the shuttle at the airport after a day of travelling by a person with a huge smile and then arriving at the hotel to even more smiles, sincere welcomes and a refreshing cool cloth and fruit drink!!
We booked 10 nights in a Cape suite and it was great!! Huge king size bed in a large room with lounge, coffee table, TV that could be viewed from the couch or the bed, a lovely bathroom with shower and tub, a wonderful balcony where you could see the hotel pier and the beach, a spa bath that was fun to use in the rain storm we had during our stay!!
Our room was serviced daily and a big thank you to Pinyo who cleaned our room and was always smiling and happy to have a chat.
We booked breakfast with our room and there was not a morning we were disappointed with the selection being offered. The staff were always there refilling tea and coffee, clearing plates and welcoming everyone as they came in.
Daily we made use of the shuttle that runs every 20 minutes from the hotel to bay where there is a store, coffee shop and numerous places to eat. You can also make use of atms, cash exchange, book tours, get taxis, visit the Phuket aquarium or just walk along the waterfront. There are also on most nights food stalls and small market stalls where you can buy bits and pieces.
The hotel has a wonderful spa 'Cape Spa" where you can go and have any type of treatment you can think of!! We had aroma massages here and they were wonderful!! Just make sure you book early in the day or the day before to get a spot as they get quite busy. But don't worry if you can't get in here as there are at least a dozen other places over the hill where you can get massages. Our favourite place outside of the hotel to get a massages was "Diva".
On our visit this time we had the opportunity to take part in the Thai cooking class offered by the hotel we had such a great time!! My husband and I cooked a wonderful 3 course meal and it was really interesting talking to the chef about some of the differences in the herbs they use. A huge thank you to Chef Kan who took time out of his day to help teach us some delicious dishes!!
While staying at the hotel we also used the shuttles they offer to go into Patong Beach and Central Festival Shopping Centre they also have shuttles that will take you into Phuket village. You can also get the reception staff to book you a taxi to the weekend night markets which are worth a visit. We took advantage of hiring a car with driver for 3 hours and it took us where ever we wanted to go!! Which was great as we headed up to the big Budha and over to Kata beach for a look.
It sounds like we did a lot on our trip but really we spent most mornings down by the beach and using the pool that they also have down there. They have a very handy cable car that runs up and down to the beach as required, we usually were down there before it started for the day so to get a little exercise we walked down to the beach and caught the car back up!! There are plenty of beach chairs and towels to use and friendly staff who will bring you drinks as you bathe in the sun!!
While on holidays we don't tend to use hotel restaurants and prefer to eat out which we did this time as well. There are a number of places near by that are excellent and I have written reviews for them already. However this visit we did make use of the restaurant for afternoon teas and had one evening meal which was delicious!!!
Cape Panwa is a place where you can go to relax and not stress about what is going on in the world. If you want to go to a place where you are tripping over staff, want constant attention and want to be in the centre of all the action go somewhere else!!
At Cape Panwa the staff are always friendly and will help with whatever you need (thanks Tim Laven). And sometimes it takes a little longer to get a drink you may have ordered but it does come and it is cold!!
I would recommend to anyone a visit to Cape Panwa and we can't wait to go back!!
