Our stay at this hotel was very disapointing, after reading other reviews we were not prepared for the outdated and very small rooms. This is not a budget hotel so I was expecting a little bit of luxury (as we had previously found at hotels in Karon - but it just wasn't there unless you wanted to pay for an upgrade.
It was also very disapointing that one member of our party had money stolen from their hotel room, when reported to the managment it was literally ignored and when a request was made to call the police it was also ignored.
On the plus side it is a really lovely location - apart from the refinery which the sea view rooms look out to!!

The rooms are beautifully appointed. Like a slice of paridise. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I would stay here again and again.
We drove a rental 4WD because we wanted the ultimate in freedom. This presented a challenge in finding the hotel because the English translation on the GPS was not good. BUT once we found the location (main street of UTHAI) we were more than impressed. I strongly recommed that you go for it if you are an adventurer.

All I can say is that if you're looking for a hotel which has a stunningly beautiful location; a secluded and private beach which caters well for sunbathers and shade lovers alike; a staff who will bend over backwards to make you feel welcome and ensure that your every need is met, then look no further than Cape Panwa. We stayed over Christmas and New Year and as such were treated to the two Gala Evenings put on by the hotel. Words cannot describe the effort which went in to these events (staff worked endlessly on the preceding days) and while we would normally avoid such hotel organised festivities, these two events were truly fabulous. A big thank you to you all.
Before booking I had read most of the reviews here and so I don't want to repeat what others have said. Suffice to say, the eateries and bars (Jame's and Sawasdee in particular) are all that others have said; the Infinity pool by the beach and the bigger one up at the hotel are clean and inviting; the breakfasts to die for and served in a beautifully airy and relaxed area by the pool (the long breakfast serving times meaning it never really got too crowded); the general, public hotel areas cool and relaxing. As others have said, the standard/superior rooms while spacious and clean need updating especially the bathrooms and more than one power point wouldn't go amiss. However, the well sized balconies which incorporate a lounger for two make it a very relaxing space at the end of a "hard day" of holidaying. Also a nice space at night overlooking the floodlit, empty pool to enjoy the very reasonable room service in spite of 17% tax/service charges. Room C308 did us well with orchids on the pillows greeting us each day on our return from the beach or from elephant riding or from our boat and kayak trips or from our "interesting" evening in Patong . On that, you will read elsewhere on this site about Patong. We were more than happy to get back to our little oasis greeted by friendly faces at reception and the comfort of C308.
The highlight of our trip had to be the kayaking up North to Hong Island which was thanks to Tim, Guests Relations Manager, as it was on his advice that we went. I have to say, having read some reviews here, I was in trepidation of meeting this guy but my experience was that he worked endless hours, as did all the staff, to ensure we all had a great holiday.... all our dealings with him were more than positive.
Before I conclude, I have to say that we met up with some really lovely people from UK and abroad : Sandy and Paul; Avril and Denis; Kerry and Paul and of course Marge and John. A special hello as well to the lovely Swedish family who shared New Year with us! Hope you all got home safely and are not too blisteringly cold (Avril and Denis exempt!!)
Would love to keep in touch and you can find me on facebook Vici Topping.

My husband, daughter (7) and I enjoyed a 12 night trip over NY at the Cape Panwa and really enjoyed it. The location is great if you are looking for a quiet village location. There are a few shops and restaurants, but anyone looking for more will be disappointed. Room (C314) was dated, but clean and functional. Overlooked the swimming pool. Spa was fantastic and while we were staying had a 50% discount on all treatments. Gym nice, beach slightly disappointing. Trip to Coral Island excellent value.

We have just returned from a week stay at the Cape Panwa.

Having stayed there 2 years ago we knew what the accomodation was like and upgraded to the newly refurbished suites. The suite was absolutely amazing and worth every penny!

The room was really big and bright with fantastic sea views. We also had our own private jucczi on the balcony.

However we were disappointed to hear from some of the guests that the basic rooms were still old, dull and had carpets in the rooms that smelled of smoke etc.

Alot of the guests who had standard rooms requested to move but due to the Christmas there were no suites available. Besides no suites available some guests did not have the money to upgrade and were expecting better standard rooms.

The complex has totally changed since we were there 2 years with not alot of english speaking guests. Most of the guests were from Romania and Russia.

To eat at the hotel is expensive compared to local restaurants so do shop around!
