Visited the Kantary Bay on July 25th for two weeks. This was a package from Mercury Direct. The flights were with Thai airways from Heathrow and involved a connecting flight at Bangkok to Phuket. The seating on the flight had good legroom and the complimentary drinks were most welcome. The cabin staff were very pleasant. The entertainment however was a little disappointing as it was a little dated. No seat back screens or games here but that didn’t bother us too much. Mosquito repellent purchased from Boots after passing through security at Heathrow was confiscated on transfer at Bangkok as it was over 100ml. So be careful what you buy.
Arriving at Kantary Bay the reception staff were welcoming and helpful. We had booked an all inclusive package through Mercury and we were given meal vouchers and an all inclusive card for the drinks. The package was a bit restrictive however. The accompanying information sheet stating that we could only eat from the set menu or the buffet . Drinks could only be taken with meals or at the Andaman bar at Cape Panwa outside these times. This was especially a nuisance on the beach as it meant we had to go up the hill to the Andaman bar to get a drink.
We questioned this and the reception staff said we could get drinks at the Clock House on the Kantary Bay site. Drinks were limited to Chang beer, house wine by the glass, local whiskey, fruit juices, milkshakes and soft drinks. We were upgraded from a studio to a 1 bedroomed apartment. The sea views from our balcony on 301A were quite spectacular. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable and had fridge, microwave, hotplate and kettle in the kitchenette for anyone catering for themselves. Two bottles of water were supplied and replenished each day if you used them however on one occasion we obtained 2 extra bottles in readiness for an excursion only to find the maid had removed the other two bottles by the time we returned from breakfast. We had to hide them after that. The air-conditioning worked well and was reasonably quiet. We even had a washing machine which was handy as clothing doesn’t stay fresh for long in the tropics. The location was quiet and secluded which suited us but may not suit all.
The Cape Panwa site was undergoing refurbishment and drilling and hammering could be heard all day long even from the beach. I felt quite sorry for the Cape Panwa guests as some of them grumbled about being woken by the work early in the morning. The hotel provided free day trips and free lunch and drinks for those choosing to stay during the day. This only lasted for the first 8 days of our stay but the work still continues and may last for some time.
The Kantary Bay has two pools one being a rooftop pool. The Cape Panwa has two pools also. The beachside one also has a Jacuzzi. A shuttle bus goes between the two sites every few minutes. There is quite a steep hill between the two sites which made walking between the two a hot sweaty affair in the tropical climate. The restaurants were good, the barbecue buffet at the Andaman especially good. The Australian tenderloin and rib eye steaks were tender and delicious. Uncle Nan’s restaurant was probably our favourite as it was air conditioned and we both like Italian dishes. The delicious salads can be eaten with confidence. No grumble tums here. The service in the bars and restaurants was excellent.
Towels were provided at the pools and the beach so you don’t need to take towels with you. The beach was quite nice except at low tide when rocks were exposed between the beach and the sea. The sun beds were comfy but on one occasion we found some difficulty finding a free one. As half the hotel was closed due to the work ,this could be a problem when full to capacity. Snorkelling from the beach was a big disappointment as the visibility was barely 1metre. The hotel has various activities including Thai Language classes, Batik painting, Thai cooking, try dives in the pool, napkin folding and fruit and vegetable carving to name a few.
The ever helpful reception staff booked us an elephant riding experience and also scuba diving. Niggles aside we had a good holiday and would recommend the Kantary Bay and the experience should be better still when the building work is completed.

If you want peace and quiet . A beach you can swim at all year round with no touts, Tuk tuks or jet skis. Friendly staff and villagers and great service. Then this is the place for you. If you want night life, girly bars and trashy souvenir shops then go to Patong. One thing before closing. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable but are in need of some updating in regards to furnishings.

This was my first stay in Thailand and I thought the Kantary Bay Hotel was perfect for first time visiters. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful and gave a great first impression, as did the hotel its self. The lobby was very attractive and the room (well apartment really) represented fantastic value for money, especially if you often travel in Europe.

I would strongly recommend Kantary Bay to other couples, it offers good restaurants and bars and a secluded beach. We met many couples there who had been before and were already planning their next trip, and we could see why. The location was beautiful, although getting to the beach did involve a five minute bus journey. The hotel is situated on a peninsula away from Phuket town and the party town of Patong which was good for us as we didnt want to be directly involved in the hustle and bustle but there were plenty of bus trips and cabs avaliable for when we did want to sample the markets and late night bars.

I enjoyed my stay in Thailand imensely and Kantary Bay was a significant factor, i would recommend it to others and hope to stay there again myself.

After several trips to Phuket we decided to chose a hotel in a tranquil location and we booked Kantary Bay hotel. The location at the seafront is very peaceful with stunning views of the sea and the islands.
Our room was fine with all amenaties we could ever require. The service was outstanding, very friendly and competent. The facilities of the hotel are comprehensive, with those of Cape Panwa hotel (with private beach) as a bonus. The buffet breakfast was excellent with an extensive selection of Western and Asean food. Overall we really enjoyed all the food form the hotel outlets. The hotel has become our favorite hotel in Phuket and we will definitely return.
Not all taxi drivers are aware of the location of the hotel, so this might require some attention.

Had a wonderful apartment, big and very cool in the hot summer days. Restaurants in the hotel and it's nearby sister Cape Panwa, were not that good and very pricey by Phuket standards. Fortunately there were many small independent eateries around. Although the location is relatively isolated, the shared facilities and beach at Cape Panwa were excellent. We also enjoyed the roof pool and sunsets at Kantary. The front desk staff were very helpfull and pleasant. We would stay again and recommend it to friends
