“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We arrived at the Jalsa Beach on the 17th July staying All Inclusive for 2 weeks. I cannot fault this hotel and would recommend it 100%. The rooms were excellent, the majority having a sea view. The food is the best I've ever experienced in an 'All Inclusive' package. Apart from the vast variety of food to suit every taste, the chef was happy to prepare special dishes based upon request.
Weather wise, we've been to Mauritius twice before and July is their winter. Although you do get sunshine, the East coast appears to get more rain than the west. I would therefore advise to go between November and February which is the Mauritian summer. In saying that, the temperatures in July were in the mid to high 20's although weather seems less predictable in July.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 220 which had a sea view. 220 to 224 have sea views as far as I remember along wit...

We have just returned from two wonderfull weeks at the Jalsa Beach. We would like to thank Richard and his fantastic family of staff, starting with the warm reception we received on arrival.
Our room (307) had everything we needed, had a great view over the lagoon and was kept spotlessly clean. The food in the restaurant was top class an eclectic mix of indian and international and the chefs were always on hand to explain the dishes and encourage you to try them, the waiters and waitresses were so friendly and became our friends. as did the boys in the Rum Point bar who were always good for a laugh and joke and gave us a excellent service. We must also mention how loveley the grounds were kept by the maintenence manager and his team.Although we only used the boathouse on a few occasions the boys that worked there were very friendly and helpfull.
All in all we had a great and relaxing time, we arrived as guests and left as friends.
Tony and Jean Wheeler.

Room Tip: Rooms on top floor. sea facing.

I stayed here for a week with my parents and our room number was 215. We got an upgrade to the first floor. The view of the bay was great and they had Indian (Vegetarian meals) everyday. Staff is amazing and I would really thank Sindy, Reema and Monisha for being such nice host to us.

Plus points:
Its a nice property with beaches on both the sides.
Has its own beach.
Great staff.

Things to work on:
Needs to put towerbolts in the washrooms.
Should have health faucet too.

Room Tip: Try taking the upper floor rooms and do try cycling to the public beach.

Dear Travelazzi,

The Team at Jalsa Beach Hotel & Spa thank you for your wonderful review. We also thank you and your family for choosing Jalsa Beach Hotel & Spa as your holiday destination and for allowing us to share in a memorable holiday experience.

We have taken note of both your ‘plus points’ and ‘things to work on’. The feedback from our guests serves as a valuable tool to the Team with which we can continue to enhance the product.

We most certainly support your recommendation on the Deluxe Room with sea view which offers spectacular views of the beauty Mauritius offers. These rooms are limited and we recommend that guests plan for this at the time of booking.

We send our best wishes to you and your family and hope to welcome you again soon.

Thank you!

I stayed at the Jasla Beach Hotel as part of the Himalayan Academy Innersearch Programme. The staff excelled from the warm welcome and introduction to my spacious room with an amazing view to the unwavering hospitality everyday for the 12 day programme. Food was exceptional and consistently felt like we were fine dining at every meal-would concur with earlier reviews that the selection of vegetarian and eggless desserts were amongst the best I have experienced! We has a section reserved for out events and the staff could not too enough to help. The access to the beach area was very convenient for short trolls between programme activities. Definitely recommend Jasla Beach especially if you want to stay local to the Spiritual Park.

Room Tip: Room 306 has two balconies and is spacious

We, a family of 5 from Johannesburg South Africa, were delegates to the Saiva Sidhantha Church (Kauai) Innersearch Programme from the 1st of July 2014 to the 14th July 2014. The rooms were comfortable, well-kept and cleaned regularly. The only minor discomfort mentioned by one of my daughters is that their room did not have a solid window from the bathroom/toliet to the bedroom but had a loose straw blind. Management should consider putting a glass window as well.
The vegetarian health meals and the eggless cakes and puddings prepared especially for the Innersearchers were beyond description. The Manager, Chefs and staff were friendly, readily available and helpful at all times. A job well done Jalsa Beach Staffers! We unreservedly recommend this venue to any holiday-maker. May you be blessed abundantly for the good care you took of us! ( R.M.Moodley and Family, Johannesburg South Africa)

My wife and I were part of the Inner Search Retreat of 10 nations, staying for 15 days. This is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in our many travels. The idilic location, the lagoon, the spacious room and other facilities were excellent. A special mention needs to be made of the staff, particularly the dinning room and kitchen staff. They served us an excellent array of tasty vegetarian meals with love and great courtesy. They became part of our group. They are the most valuable asset to your nice resort. Thank you and may God Bless you all and the beautiful people of Mauritius.

My husband and I stayed at the Jalsa beach Hotel last year. We were given a very nice room facing the swimming pool with the beach just beyond. Coming to the pros, the room was very comfortable and there was a little sit out, where we enjoyed lazing in the sun. The room service was also very good. The hotel offers some recreation in the form of table tennis and a lounge bar by the poolside. Water sports facilities such as Kayaking, Scuba diving, water skiing and under sea walk are also available at the hotel. Kayaking was complimentary during our stay.

The cons were that the WiFi was only accessible in the common lounge area, near the swimming pool. Since our room was very close to the lounge, we could catch the WiFi there. Make sure to carry your toiletries along. For some reason my husband thought the hotel would provide us with oral hygiene kits..and they didn't. There was an extra charge for it. Since we had booked our trip through an agent, our breakfast and dinner was included in our holiday package. The breakfast was really good, with a delectable array of food, including cooked and continental. The dinner buffet however, was very disappointing, especially to my husband, who is vegetarian. Though the restaurant caters to Indians, the food was quite bland for our taste. So if you are Indian and used to having spicy, flavorful food, the dinner might be a let down.
There are various restaurants around the places one would visit in Mauritius, so managing lunch wasn't difficult. However, please keep in mind that Jalsa hotel is really far from the main city. There were no grocery shops or fast food places near the hotel. So make sure to stock up on any snacks/ water that you might need before checking into the hotel. Also, there was no public transport available. We were completely dependent on our trip organizers for travel within the island. One could hire cabs for the day at the hotel but if you are on a budget, you might consider forming a group and sharing the expense.
Overall, I would recommend Jalsa hotel if you're planning an 'all inclusive' sort of trip. However, if you are on your own to tour around the island, then you might want to consider an alternative place of stay.

Room Tip: Select a room near the pool if you want to catch the WiFi in your room.

Dear Dharmika K K,

On behalf of the Team at Jalsa Beach Hotel & Spa I thank you for your positive feedback and wonderful review. Be assured that your review has been shared with all members of the Team. I have noticed that it has been some time since your visit to Jalsa Beach Hotel & Spa in 2013. For this reason I’m touching on some points mentioned which may have changed.

Firstly we appreciate your feedback on the high standard of our rooms. Our housekeeping department is very dedicated in maintaining this high standard. Our Deluxe rooms with view are most certainly worth the upgrade.

We are also pleased to read that you have enjoyed much of the facilities the hotel has to offer. Our boathouse has become an even greater attraction with added facilities and even better service.

We most certainly understand your feedback regarding having Wi-Fi in the room. We provide Wi-Fi FREE of charge in both our lobby and pool bar with surrounding sundeck. Very shortly we will be adding the same service in our Hartopp Restaurant which will provide our guests with more options.

With regards to the food much has changed since your visit. Our Team has been joined by an expert from India who has enhanced the taste and variation of our Indian food selection. Our daily themed buffets have also been amended to provide a much larger choice of international flavours.

A useful point for guests to know is that Jalsa Beach Hotel & Spa is located within meters of the public transport (bus service) which offer our guests an alternative to using the local taxi services. Many of our guests have enjoyed making use of the public transport service frequently.

Most importantly we send you our best wishes and hope to have the privileged to welcome you again soon.

Thank you!
