Remarkable
What a Remarkable experience!!!!
Auob Lodge is situated near the small town of Gochas.
When driving to Auob lodge your surrounding is astonishing, from dry rouged landscapes to green trees along the river bend. Farm houses to see as well.
Arriving at Auob Lodge you are welcomed warmly and friendly.
You can enjoy a cool drink at the indoor bar, or just sit and relax in the African setting lounge with a fireplace.
A swimming pool for these hot summer days in Namibia.
Lapa where you can braai or just sit and visit with friends.
The food there is just delicious, fabulous local or international food.
You can go for dinner on the red dunes and watch a breath-taking sunset.
You can also discover the surrounding on foot or you can take a game drive where you will discover different species of animals, like the antelope, zebra and there is also a big variety of bird live.
Well decorated air conditioning rooms, for those warm afternoon when you need the indoors for a nap or just too relaxing.
This is good stop en-route for those venturing further south.
It was truly a wonderful experience and I just can’t wait to go back later this year!!!

What we liked about the lodge:
- The cold pool; great for getting into on a hot day
- The night drive to see the sunset in the kalahari, which is quite beautiful
- The cleanliness of the rooms
- The restaurant: the food was very good and reasonably priced. Despite there being just 1 dish for dinner, a vegetarian option was no problem. This was one of the best meals I had in Namibia.
- Friendly staff even though not everyone speaks English as well,
The only critique we can offer:
- the beds are apart despite being booked for a double room
- the rooms could use some updating and the sliding doors don't offer a lot of soundproofing, although if you're sensitive to noise, you shouldn't travel without ear plugs anyway.

This quaint little resort is located in a really beautiful location. What the place lacks in modern conveniences it makes up for with the friendly staff and great food. In the desert country every stop is appreciated just for being there. If you stay here you will love it!

Room Tip: As long as your room has a bed you will be happy!

Best part of the stay was the game drive, which we almost missed! I found the lodge to be clean and comfortable. I stayed on the second floor of the new part of the lodge. It's much better than the old lodge. Food was good.

The gamedrive was good, the food was very special (we ate eland).
The singing and dancing (after diner) by the Nama-orphans was very charming. Never seen it before. The manager supports a project to educate these (aids-orphans).
A lot of animals.

schliek

We stopped at Gochas on our way to Mata Mata. The location is good but the hotel rooms outdated and rundown. There are quite a lot of bugs and the room smelled of pesticides. The rooms are very simple and basic. There is no internet or wifi in the hotel. We were the only guests and the manager was friendly and actually gave us a better price. We had a late dinner at the hotel and really enjoyed breakfast. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
