The riad is three miles outside the Taroudant city walls, so you'll have to drive into town.
The place itself is beautiful - a wonderful house built around a pool. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, with large bathrooms. All of the details are well thought-through. The whole place has an atmosphere of calm, and it was a great place to check into after a long day of driving across the desert. The staff are wonderful, the food is excellent (dinner by the pool is a real treat) and the owner Laurent is attentive.
It's in the middle of a "real" Moroccan neighborhood, a town called Machraa al-Ain. I recommend taking a stroll along the main road to the rondpoint and back - you get to pass cafes, butcher stalls, shops, and all the stuff of a Moroccan town. There is a cafe/restaurant on the west side of the road (Cafe Assaraya) that is worth checking out - a lot of families with kids in a place where you'll be the only tourist. I went there with my son to take in a bit of the World Cup - good experience.More
