“Good Value for Money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2012

We ate in this small restaurant twice on our recent visit. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Try and get a beach side table to savour he atmosphere. The food is simple but very good - the fresh fish is excellent. The restaurant represents very good value for money

“Fantastic Local restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 December 2011

After many years of visiting Barbados this was the first time we have ate at the Waverider and it will not be the last. As previous posts state the restaurant is basic with plastic chairs etc but its friendly, clean and in a great location. We paid 100BDS including tip for 2 x starters, 2 x mains and 6 beers excellent value for money. The food was of excellent quality and with good service, I would highly recommend the Waverider to all.

“A great little place”

I agree with all reviews above. The chef Mervin is personable and fixes great fish. The appetizer of smoked salmon is a good choice.

“Down home food right next to the water”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2011

Had dinner here as recommended by our hotel manager. The decor of the restaurant is simple: Plastic chairs, paper napkins. For my husband and me, the quality of the food is what is important.

I had the red snapper and macaroni pie, which was outstanding. We split an order of fish cakes, which was great, especially with the spicy dip.

We dined at night, so they had white lights around the outdoor dining area, and you could hear the waves crashing since it's right on the sea which was very romantic.

In all, we ordered 1 appetizer, two entrees, and 4 beers, which totaled about $50US, including tip, which is about what we are used to paying in The States for a nice dinner. The food is so well seasoned and it is one of the best places I have dined so far in Barbados.

Don't come here expecting a fancy place, because you won't find it here. But if you want real Bajan food without the frills, just yummy eats and good service, then head here. I highly recommend it.

“Thrills the Tastebuds without the Frills and High Prices”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2011

If you want to enjoy a relaxed and tasty dinner while listening to the waves of the ocean, then Wave Rider it is! This is a cosy restaurant and bar on the edge of Speightstown in St. Peter...steps away from the Speightstown Esplanade.

The food is excellent and the prices very reasonable. The menu is varied but the fish is to die for...always fresh and very well seasoned. I had the best salmon and snapper there!

There's entertainment on the weekend and the mood is light and casual. Decor is simple and breezy but the food and atmosphere can't be beat.
