“Perfect location and friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2014 via mobile

We have just returned from a 9 day stay at almond Beach Resort and had a really great time. Just a short walk along the sea front into Speightstown or a 10 minute bus ride into Holetown. Yet you feel you are away from the really touristy parts of the island. The long sandy beach is lovely to walk along and you can snorkel right off the beach or get the glass bottom boat to an area where turtles gather. Swimming with turtles was a real highlight. Both the Reef and Enid's restaurant were good, we preferred Enid's for a change in the evening and sometimes for lunch. The Reef overlooks the beach and sea and good food and plentiful supplies of nice wine are available at both. We loved the location and found the staff all friendly and helpful.

Reading some of the previous reviews that people have put about the resort I felt I just had to put our experience on here.
A group of 6 of us booked a 8 night stay at the resort for a relaxed winter break in the sun. We new it was a soft opening so didn't plan to expect too much.
We can all say we were pleasantly surprised and all had a lovely time.
The beach was lovely and peaceful, the resort clean and tidy and the rooms of a very good standard compared to other Caribbean resorts. Yes the resort is under going a face lift and you can see work is ongoing. If you walk down the beach you will see the other part of the resort that has been abandoned and it's state!
There are some wonderful friendly staff there who were a pleasure to meet. Elicia in Enid's restaurant was a real bubbly friendly character always with a smile , a friendly welcome and went out of her way to make our friends birthday special. Judy who manned the egg service was delightful and so friendly, Jermaine in Tommy's bar always made the best cocktails and was always friendly and welcoming.
Yes some service was slow in other areas but its the Caribbean way so chill. All feed back was taken onboard and daily you saw improvements being made in service and all areas.
All of us said we would definitely go back.
It was just a shame that so many people were moaning and having such unrealistic expectations of a soft opening.
Well done all at Almond beach.

This place has newly opened and as such has had a few teething problems however they couldn’t have done any more to accommodate us and make our stay feel very special.
Despite an initial hick up with our room we were then provided with a lovely large sea view triple sized bed room and a complimentary bottle of fizz due to our wait.

The staff are friendly and attentive and you feel that you are genuinely being treated as special – our glasses remained topped up at every opportunity and every request no matter how small was accommodated.

The hotel is still undergoing some refurbishment however this was barely noticeable. Currently 2 restaurants are open however we really only ate in the main restaurant as it is beach front and has very good culinary standards – in fact having paid almost £90 on a meal out in Holetown we actually found the food in this restaurant to be of a higher standard and we never had any problems booking in at the main restaurant as the staff always asked if you required a booking when you arrived for breakfast.

The resort also offers a very wide variety of free trips. I went on the Island bus trip. This was an excellent day out and the staff providing this (Ricardo) was extremely entertaining, professional and friendly.

There are a number of pools – all very well kept and lots of facilities for families. We tended to used the beach as this is so accessible being right next to the hotel and is a lovely sandy beach which is kept very clean and constantly monitored by staff. Plenty of sun beds and very accessible if you wished for further cocktails form the lovely beach side bar!

The managerial staff Paul and Craig where exceptional in helping out with all of our queries and sorting out any issues if these did arise. The reception staff again where excellent in their helpful attitude and efficiency. In fact we enjoyed our stay so much we extended by a further 2 nights and all the staff assisted us in rearranging flights and offered amazing value for us to remain in the hotel.

All in all I think you can always find fault if things aren’t to your taste however personally I was quite overwhelmed at the incredible value for money this resort offered and I would definitely return.

We met many friends here and it is without doubt one of my most memorable holidays.

First time on the island so didn't really know what to expect with this complex. Need not have been concerned. Great location (on the beach). fantastic room, fabulous food and the friendliest staff ever!!
Plenty of choice at every meal sitting and no shortage of drinks etc. Entertainment every night, sometimes a little 'samey' but nevertheless, it was entertaining. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who would go out of their way to ensure you had the best of times here.
We are definitely going to go back to this hotel and enjoy being spoiled again!!

Room Tip: If possible, go for an upgrade - we did, and woke each day to the sight and sound of the beautiful C...

Since 1999 my wife and myself along with family and friends have been coming to Almond Resorts. We mainly stayed at the "Village" through the years and have seen it at it's best. So returning to a work in progress was a bit risky but I'm happy to say that our week here was wonderful. Yes it is a work in progress but all in all our room was neat and clean( do get the ocean view if possible) the food was better than expected and the beaches are great. As others have said any issues were handled expertly by a very capable staff. Make time to go. We are hopefully the summer. Cheers

Having just read the previous three reviews it is interesting to somehow agree with all points of view. It all depends on your take on things and to a large extent the luck of the draw! We have just returned having spent two very enjoyable weeks in which we experienced all points raised either personally or through our friends (new and old) who had themselves mixed experiences.
One couple were without hot water for 4 days and any water for a couple and were offered a bucket to flush the loo! Eventually they were moved to another room but we think that was a very unfortunate and more isolated example of the problems the hotel were having due to the unprecedented demand for rooms, which incidently caused some poor new arrivals being sent elsewhere. Basically the hotel just did not foresee the extent of demand and could not cope with problems associated with rooms coming out of commision due to developing faults. There was initially a shortage of staff and equipment to cope but this improved as our holiday progressed and toward the end a noticeable change had come about (or was that the effect of the rum!)
All in all for the money this is a great spot to spend your holiday and we are sure that as time passes most of the problems will be ironed out, would we go back, most certainly and the sooner the better. In short we had a great holiday with minimum problems as long as you go with the flow and we are sure you would too.

Room Tip: It is personal choice as far as rooms are concerned, ie grd or upper (there is a lift in larger bloc...

The location is stunning, however this resort was not ready to reopen. It hasn't been refurbished, it's had a repaint and that's as much as I could see! We had bolts missing off the toilet a huge crack in the sliding wardrobe mirror doors which would've been v dangerous with children and broken AC.The service although friendly is v slow as normal in the Caribbean. However in the reef bar area we were told on the last night we were not 'allowed' sparkling wine as it was only supposed to be a welcome drink! ( despite drinking it every night) Another bartender later told us this was rubbish! The food was bad, it is preprepared as a waitress told us- the calamari was tough and chewy and a chicken, feta cheese and spinach parcel only contained chicken! We asked to speak to a manager as it wasn't fair complaining to the waiting staff and we never saw one!! All in all very disorganised!
