“Sensational Location - Hilton Barbados”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2011

This Hilton property is in an excellent location in Barbados. No airport transportation, but very reasonable cab fare. We visited for one week January 2011 (this review is overdue). Excellent view from both island and ocean (we changed rooms midway to experience both). Grounds were beautiful, beach was amazing. We snorkelled just to the right of the hotel in Carlisle Bay (there's a wreck). Water clarity was not optimum, conditions were a little windy / water was cloudy...nonetheless, we saw lots of underwater marine life. The most spectacular part of our trip was swimming with sea turtles, right off a public beach (Coconut Court Beach) !!! No special tour necessary. However, we did take a Catamaran tour with Cool Runnings and had a really great time. We saw even more turtles. Cool Runnings offered the longest day on the water.

Most valuable tip: bring your own snorkel gear, as there are many opportunities for snorkelling without booking an excursion.

The only negative for me this entire trip - the Hilton Beds were a little harder than I'm accustomed to...This was a minor detail...and my husband and I both adjusted! Food a little pricey everywhere on the island.

There is an amazing Flying Fish Sandwich truck right on Carlisle Bay near the Hilton! Sandwiches were around $3.00 and Delicious! We tried this late into our stay, and wish we had tried them sooner!

Recommend renting a car and spending a lot of time on the West and South Coast. Bathsheba on the East Coast also worthwhile and beautiful! Highly recommend lunch at the Round House overlooking the coast at BathSheba...amazing view...crazy surfers!

People in Barbados are very friendly, and helpful. We will go back!

Room Tip: Any room in this Hotel is FINE!!!!

Barbados is not a fancy place however the Hilton is one of only 3 US Chain hotels. Courtyard is not on the beach so it's only the Fairmont or the Hilton. Near town however town is nothing to write home about. If you want to sit by the pool, take a dip in the blue waters of the ocean and have a really nice poolside bar and restaurant, this is the place. Plenty of great restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: definitely ask for a room that you can see the sunset from your balcony.

I have stayed at this hotel twice and have not been disappointed Friendly and very helpful staff. The beach is one of the best.

Room Tip: every room in the hotel views the water - so I dont think there is a bad room in the place!

My wife and I just returned from a week in Barbados and at the Hilton Barbados. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a tropical drink while checking into the hotel. Very friendly staff. We were accompanied to the executive lounge where we received our room keys and given details as to the services of the hotel. We were accompanied to our room where our luggage was brough to our suite, which we were upgraded because of being a Hilton Honors Gold member. Our suite was beautiful and had a view of the beach on the Caribbean side. The suite was very large with a huge bathroom that had two basins, a big tub and a very large glass en ompassed shower, not to mention a separate room for the toilet. There didn't appear to be a bad view from any room and even if there were, why would you want to stay in a room when there is a beautiful beach just steps away?

The hotel had various themed dinners at The Lighthouse Grill, while there was a beach bar-b-q/cookout on a few of the nights we were present. The cookout was very good as well as the entertainment. The Limbo and dancing one night was a lot of fun. The staff at the pool/beach bar were friendly and made some very good drinks. Be careful of the rum punch...it was delicious but it will sneak up on you if you don't watch how many you have, which is by far the strongest drink they serve but is awesome!

The food is somewhat pricy but remember you are in a vacation spot and the exchange rate is $2 Barbados = $1 American.

Can't say enough about the staff and people of Barbados! Very nice and friendly...so much that we are planning our trip for next year.

I spent a week at Hilton Barbados with my wife and 4 year daughter. It´s very well located at Needham´s Point, close to Bridgetown downtown but far enough to avoid the night crowds.

Great pool and beach, amenities are OK and they have a happy hour from 5 to 6 pm everyday - nice to get an extra drink by the pool at this hour!

The staff is super and it was an extra pleasure to engage in conversations with them, very warm people who make you feel you´re really welcome. Rooms are within the American standard for a 4-star hotel. Continental breakfast, just like you have in the US.

We were lucky to get a promotion so our room was on a 50% rate for the week: a great deal for a very pleasant week in a place we longed to know.

On our departure date, the staff offered us an "hospitality room", so we could enjoy the beach till the very last moment, take a shower and change clothes before heading to the airport. This is the late check-out that every Caribbean hotel should offer to the guests.

There might be other places which are more typical to stay in Barbados, but for those travelling in family, Hilton Barbados is an excellent choice.

Room Tip: All rooms have a view to the beach/sea. If your flight back home departs at night, ask for the hospi...

This hotel was very nice. They provide a taxi service for a flat rate and the check in was simple. I had an issue with my key as my cellphone caused trouble with the magnet strip but the concierge was more than helpful. The pool area is beautiful and the beach in the back was amazing. I was there for work so I only had a morning to enjoy but it was amazing. A local stopped by for some quick conversation. I saw turtle shell eggs on the beach. The suite had a view towards the ocean and the city. It was clean and nice decor. The bathroom was huge! Separate toilet room, glass shower, and spa tub. Double vanity and a window over the tub. The toiletries were nice. The room service was prompt and excellent. Overall great for business or pleasure. I will stay again for work, not my style for vacation (pricey)

I stayed 10/13/2011 to 10/18/2011. Location is great about a 20 min cab ride from the airport. The roads are narrow and lots of traffic but a fun ride.

The hotel is very nice and clean. The rooms have all been updated and you feel like you are staying at a Hilton in the US. Room service and maids are very efficient and good at cleaning the rooms. All rooms have a balcony. Be sure to ask for ocean view they have the best views.

The only disappointment with the hotel was the food. Overall the food is very expensive and not that good. We ate at the grill by the pool and a burger, fries, and salad with ice team was almost $ 50.00 US. One night we ate in the main restaurant. We ordered spaghetti, salad, chicken, and again ice tea and the meal was $ 80.00 US. While the food was ok it was not worth the money. Now I understand why no one was eating in the restaurants.
Because we are Hilton Honors members we ate in the lounge each morning for free. Good continental breakfast with juice and coffee. These were the best meals of the week and they were free. Also if you need to use the internet do it in the lounge and not the business office it costs $ 15.00 US for 30 minutes in the business center.

Generally the bartenders were good and quick but the drinks are very expensive. We mainly drank the local been and the servers would come out to the beach when you needed a refill.

The beach at the Hilton is excellent. There is a very wide and long area of white sand beach with plenty of umbrellas and lawn chairs. The waves are huge but fun and they do have a lifeguard on duty all day.
There are no hotels next to the Hilton so it can be a nice relaxing walk between the beach and palm trees down the beach. The only negative is the hotel lets a couple of vendors sit next to beach, this is fine but every time you walk by them they ask you to look at their items. After the 4th or 5th time of them asking you to stop it get’s annoying.

We decided to book an activity one night. We wanted to see something different and try other food. We booked Harbor Nights (the Beach event). It only shows 2 nights a week so check that before planning. They picked us up at the hotel at 7:00 PM and dropped us back at the hotel at 11:00 PM. This is a live show (Band, fire eater, acrobatics, etc. The food was excellent and they had an open bar the entire time. We paid $ 80.00 US per person and it was worth every penny we spent.
** Hint: do not book this at the hotel. They wanted to charge us $ 95.00 and they wanted cash. We took the brochure and called the number directed and saved $ 15.00 US per person by booking ourselves.

Room Tip: Ocean view
