“Right on the beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

This was the first place we ate. Slightly fast foodish but lovely position, right by the beach. Food was very nice and the staff and the locals using the bar were very friendly. We visited twice so I think that says enough.
Worth a try

“Fish Cakes!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014

We loved this little spot. Great for an easy lunch with a beautiful and reasonable prices. The fish cakes were delicious. The cajun chicken and flying fish were also spectacular. The wait stuff were all very friendly and welcomed us on return visits. An easy walk from Ocean Two and right on the beach.

“Nice lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

There are a lot of places in this area at dover beach to grab a bite to eat or drink.
Prices for food are similar to the other restaurants in the immediate area (with the exception of booth #9) and the food is very good. Like most places in the area they have a decent choice of fresh fish.
Also good drink deals.

“Amazing place, staff and location”

Situated at the edge of the beach, a great place for lunch and watching the sun go down. Food quality excellent, simply priced and served by some of the loveliest staff you would want to meet

“Looking for a bar & restaurant with a view to die for? You've found it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014

We visit Barbados at least 3 or 4 times a year, have eaten all over the island and been visiting Johnny Cools for about three years. Why do we like JK's so much? The view, the friendliness of the staff, the cocktails, the view (probably one of the best on the island), the prices (we are talking fantastic value here) and of course the music.

The menu is simple Bajan food, Jerk Chicken with Ceaser salad is a must, Flying fish with salad or macaroni pie, fantastic gridled burgers and a cocktails menu to set you in the mood. Add to that J Kools taste in music and you will find yourself drifting away to the ambiance and the beautiful setting of Dover beach at St Lawrence Gap.

Sure he closes sometimes early - but hey! This is Barbados - if you want 24/7 go the KFC but you will be missing out on one of the best places to chill. relax and have simple food at good value with the man himself usually running around making sure his small team are doing their job.

Hilary is a new addition to J Cools and is polite, efficient and welcoming. Don't forget to say hi to Foster, he helps out behind the scenes and is a real character once you get to know him. Loraine is often there too, a lovely Irish lady who helps Johhny out in busy times.

We go back time and time again and eaten just about everywhere on the island from the Cliff, to Chin Chin through to Cuz on the beach, Johnny Cool is a special place. It's not perfect but to miss it is a crime. It's genuine and great for all occasions either with kids or couples.
