Our second visit to this lovely hotel on the best beach on the west coast. Very warm welcome with fastrack arrival at airport, private transfers and bottle of champagne in our room on arrival. Food is amazing and rooms are clean and very comfortable. The kingsize bed was divine. The staff remembered us and made our stay really special. The chef cooked a fish that we caught on a fishing trip for our dinner. Nothing was too much trouble. Our son of 10 who has special needs was shown geniune warmth and understanding by all of the staff. Hope to return soon.

With a good deal through Expedia, we stayed for a week in an ocean front room and were completely delighted. Colony Club renovated a large portion of the rooms and the resort about a year ago; our room was beautifully done. In addition to a spacious interior, there was a large covered veranda where we could relax and admire the stunning view. We had booked the breakfast package so that we could visit the many wonderful restaurants in the area. The buffet breakfast was well done and the open air seating by the pool was lovely. All the staff, from the front desk to the beach were always friendly and helpful. We also had a great tour of the resort from the head gardener. Finally, we learned quickly that all we had to do to get a good location on the beach was to put our stuff on a couple of chairs before breakfast, which seems to be the common practice. We would be pleased to return to Colony Club in the future.

As background, we have stayed at the Colony Club more than a few times. The staff has always been most cordial and accommodating. The resort is very attractive, and for the most part well kept. The grounds are beautiful and romantic. On this past occasion, I must agree with reviewer Polly, the WFI was very very slow. and frustrating to use. The lounge chairs are plentiful, but many times people are very greedy in positioning themselves to obtain the best seats. Sort of like a fife dome! There may be very little that the staff can do about all this. My biggest concern this trip was the volume of children present at the resort. This was due in part to a school holiday break. For the most part they were well mannered. On the advice of the resort, adults only stays may be reserved during the month of February. If you travel as a couple, it is well to check in advance to ensure a quieter stay. We have never tried the rooms at the back of the property, but I can see why the area would be a bit shady. The higher end rooms are indeed more luxurious. I also noted that the small minibar refrigerators have been replaced and are not equipped to keep "to go" containers fresh. We used our frig. in the past to enjoy snacks from our previous dinner, and freeze some scented cloths brought from home to make the sunning more enjoyable, but unfortunately this was no longer feasible. I also agree with Polly that the housekeeping was slightly slower than usual, but that may be due to the overload of work required by the staff. The breakfast buffet is indeed fabulous and filling. The bar makes great drinks and has a super staff. In conclusion we still enjoyed our stay at Colony Club and think it is one of the most beautiful properties on the Platinum Coast.

My 4year old Son and I stayed at Colony club in July this year. It was our first time to visit Barbados. The staff were very welcoming and would go the extra mile to make sure your stay is comfortable. My fussy 4 year old son who is the hotel inspector himself, did not have anything to complain about, looked forward to feeding the fish in the pond by reception each morning. Breakfast was a pleasurable experience in the open air restaurant by the pool. They lay out a wide variety of breakfast items to choose from, pastries, cerials, fruit, fish, sausages, eggs, harsh browns etc. The hotel is conveniently located close to bus stops and also near Holetown shopping centre which is about 15mins walk. There is a supermarket in Holetown which is handy specially if you have kids that needs constant snacking, you will find similar snacks that you would find in a UK or American supermarket. There is a mini fridge in the bedrooms. The only one thing though is the resort needs some money invested as some areas are a bit tired, otherwise our stay was very enjoyable and we will definitely stay again.

We are staying here at the colony club at the moment and whilst it's nice, it's also quite disappointing. We choose to stay at the colony club as a treat - we'd read so many good reviews and decided to up our budget to stay here - albeit in the cheapest room option - the standard garden room.
Pros: great breakfast buffet, lovely friendly staff.
Cons: room feels like you are definitely in 'the cheap seats at the back', people bag a majority of the sun beds at 7am (and the staff endorse this rather than discourage it) and wifi is about as fast as a backward moving snail.
I don't tend to write reviews but I wanted to in case you were like us and staying somewhere like the colony club was seen as a treat and can't afford one of the luxury rooms. (Incidentally, the hotel has just updated the luxury rooms in the hotel but left the standard ones, and it shows.) The standard rooms are at the back of the complex, in almost total shade so our room and balcony is very dim all day. The rooms are a little tired - they are still nice, just the balcony furniture is a bit tatty and the general decor needs a lick of paint. The wifi is so slow it's taken me 40 minutes to get onto tripadvisor to write this. As I sit here at 4pm we are yet to have our room cleaned. All in all the sense is if you have a standard room you received standard service - perhaps those in the nicer rooms are prioritised in terms of housekeeping etc?. I would rate it like staying in a 3 star room in a much nicer hotel - it feels like you are in the cheap seats. I'm fairly sure if we had been able to afford a luxury room this review would be very different. In my opinion I would advise not staying here if you can't afford a luxury room.
That said the beach is lovely (you'll need to get up early if you want a seat which is in one of the front rows so you can actually see the sea), the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is fantastic and it's in a great location.

I stayed here for a week from the 14th October as an 'away from it all' trip with my husband. It was our first time in Barbados and I cannot wait to return. It was made extra special by the stay at The Colony Club - the hotel is really lovely, made all the more better by all the staff, who are all really friendly and helpful and go out of their way to be nice to everyone. We had some great fun with Neil and Corey, and Andrea was great - giving us loads of tips on what do to and where to go. The food at the hotel is EXCELLENT - from the buffet breakfasts, to lunch on the decking to sumptuous banquet style dinners - this is well above and beyond the standard of some of the 'poshest' hotels I have ever stayed in.
The rooms are spacious, well decorated in a lovely colonial style, and immaculately looked after. We noticed that there are so many staff doing so many things that nothing goes unnoticed. We have stayed in some pretty great places but this definitely ranks as one of the best - you feel instantly at home and relaxed from the minute you arrive.
I recommend the Bajan sunset to finish a day on the beach (which is clearly one of the best stretches on the island and far better than the much acclaimed Sandy Lane area). I cannot wait to return as after one trip it already feels like home from home!

Room Tip: All rooms are nice but garden view are away from the main hotel and more private / quiet

We had a short, quick anniversary getaway. As soon as we arrived and were checked in by the friendly staff, we were thrown into instant "relaxed mode" by the welcome rum punch followed by an excellent dinner with excellent wine. All staff were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. We didn't want to leave and will definitely go back again. We are already trying to coordinate dates between work travel!

Room Tip: We had a room on the south. It had a good view of the restaurant and was close to the beach.
