“The perfect wedding !”
Reviewed 12 November 2013

We travelled to Colony Club in October 2013 for our wedding.
We booked a package holiday with Virgin Holidays and then booked direct with the hotel a wedding package.
Karene at the hotel was our wedding co-ordinator, nothing was too much trouble, very good communication via email before we travelled, everything was sorted by the hotel, all we had to do was turn up with our wedding outfits and relavent documentation.

Everyone at the hotel has to be praised for their customer service, right from the management to the cleaning staff, always smiling and very friendly. The UK has a lot to learn !!!

The hotel is a very nice place to be, very clean and gardens to die for.

Breakfast is exceptional, great choice and very tastey.

The beach is only very narrow (which is nice) sea very calm and clear. You are hassled on the beach by the locals selling jewellery, sunglasses etc but once told no they dis-appear, until the next one comes along.

Plenty of restaurants within a short taxi ride away, our fav's were... Tides, Cin Cin, The Cliff, Daphnes, The Fish Pot and of course the Sunset deck at the hotel.
The reception desk are happy to make reservations for you and call taxis for you on your way out.

We felt very safe wondering around St James during the day but didnt venture out of a night other than in a taxi to the restaurants and back.

All prices are in Barbados dollars so much easier if you take themn out with you but US dollars are also accepted, exchange rate is 1:2.

Car hire is also available at the reception desk, car is dropped off and collected from the hotel.

Recently refurbished, this is an excellent hotel, with good food, and very friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a sea view room with a balcony which was lovely. My only criticism was that the Sunday lunch buffet was very expensive.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room.

We stayed at the Colony Club in October 13 we go to the Carribean quite a lot but this place is by far the best ran hotel in 25yrs of going.
Its position is fab its food is fab but most of all its the Staff they were absolutley amazing there attention to detail was truly fantastic they really did care that me and my friends had the best time possible.
I am in the Hotel trade myself so I know how hard it is to keep such high standards I commend them.
I will return as soon as I can and would not look past this place on Barbados.

Room Tip: Try and get a Ocean Veiw room let the hotel book the restaurants for you as they did for us getting...

Our second visit to this lovely hotel on the best beach on the west coast. Very warm welcome with fastrack arrival at airport, private transfers and bottle of champagne in our room on arrival. Food is amazing and rooms are clean and very comfortable. The kingsize bed was divine. The staff remembered us and made our stay really special. The chef cooked a fish that we caught on a fishing trip for our dinner. Nothing was too much trouble. Our son of 10 who has special needs was shown geniune warmth and understanding by all of the staff. Hope to return soon.

With a good deal through Expedia, we stayed for a week in an ocean front room and were completely delighted. Colony Club renovated a large portion of the rooms and the resort about a year ago; our room was beautifully done. In addition to a spacious interior, there was a large covered veranda where we could relax and admire the stunning view. We had booked the breakfast package so that we could visit the many wonderful restaurants in the area. The buffet breakfast was well done and the open air seating by the pool was lovely. All the staff, from the front desk to the beach were always friendly and helpful. We also had a great tour of the resort from the head gardener. Finally, we learned quickly that all we had to do to get a good location on the beach was to put our stuff on a couple of chairs before breakfast, which seems to be the common practice. We would be pleased to return to Colony Club in the future.

As background, we have stayed at the Colony Club more than a few times. The staff has always been most cordial and accommodating. The resort is very attractive, and for the most part well kept. The grounds are beautiful and romantic. On this past occasion, I must agree with reviewer Polly, the WFI was very very slow. and frustrating to use. The lounge chairs are plentiful, but many times people are very greedy in positioning themselves to obtain the best seats. Sort of like a fife dome! There may be very little that the staff can do about all this. My biggest concern this trip was the volume of children present at the resort. This was due in part to a school holiday break. For the most part they were well mannered. On the advice of the resort, adults only stays may be reserved during the month of February. If you travel as a couple, it is well to check in advance to ensure a quieter stay. We have never tried the rooms at the back of the property, but I can see why the area would be a bit shady. The higher end rooms are indeed more luxurious. I also noted that the small minibar refrigerators have been replaced and are not equipped to keep "to go" containers fresh. We used our frig. in the past to enjoy snacks from our previous dinner, and freeze some scented cloths brought from home to make the sunning more enjoyable, but unfortunately this was no longer feasible. I also agree with Polly that the housekeeping was slightly slower than usual, but that may be due to the overload of work required by the staff. The breakfast buffet is indeed fabulous and filling. The bar makes great drinks and has a super staff. In conclusion we still enjoyed our stay at Colony Club and think it is one of the most beautiful properties on the Platinum Coast.

My 4year old Son and I stayed at Colony club in July this year. It was our first time to visit Barbados. The staff were very welcoming and would go the extra mile to make sure your stay is comfortable. My fussy 4 year old son who is the hotel inspector himself, did not have anything to complain about, looked forward to feeding the fish in the pond by reception each morning. Breakfast was a pleasurable experience in the open air restaurant by the pool. They lay out a wide variety of breakfast items to choose from, pastries, cerials, fruit, fish, sausages, eggs, harsh browns etc. The hotel is conveniently located close to bus stops and also near Holetown shopping centre which is about 15mins walk. There is a supermarket in Holetown which is handy specially if you have kids that needs constant snacking, you will find similar snacks that you would find in a UK or American supermarket. There is a mini fridge in the bedrooms. The only one thing though is the resort needs some money invested as some areas are a bit tired, otherwise our stay was very enjoyable and we will definitely stay again.
