“Intimate & excellent!”
Reviewed 22 July 2012

My husband & I had a 2 week holiday here in late September 2011. We chose one of the ground floor beachfront rooms with its own decked patio. I would recommend this room to anyone, great for beach access yet with the benefit of a little privacy. The hotel is not too big, the service is excellent and we had butler service for any requests - usually a cold bottle of wine late afternoon!
The grounds are well maintained and the restaurants (2) are both good.
We would have no hesitation in staying here again, a great island with friendly people & with lots of really good restaurants close by to try.

Room Tip: Beachfront with patio

My wife and I and our 2 teenage daughters have just returned from 10 days at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion. We go to the Caribbean every year and this holiday has been one of the best. The hotel is located on a perfect stretch of beach which is actually better than that at Sandy Lane. The rooms were very well appointed, clean and everything worked as it should. The views over the beach & out to sea were straight from a postcard.Of particular note are the staff who couldn't have been more friendly or helpful; nothing was too much trouble. We had breakfast at the hotel every day and the quality and range of food was excellent. We also had room service (prompt and food well presented and hot) as well as dinner. The grounds are extremely well maintained and there's always someone sweeping or cleaning to make sure it's always in top condition. The pool was always clean too. Complimentary tea was served every afternoon by the pool from 4.00 p.m & included sandwiches, cakes, scones & a choice of tea or coffee.
The watersports staff were fantastic and took extra time & effort to ensure the equipment was available when booked and in tip top condition and available for personal tuition when required. The hotel is located a couple of miles from Holetown which has bars, restaurants & quality shopping. We took the local bus which cost B$2/person one way; great way to mix with the locals but the hotel always has a taxi on hand should you prefer it.
We really couldn't fault this hotel.

This hotel is very relaxing with clean rooms and comfortable bathrooms. Be warned that they don't provide twin bedrooms as all rooms are doubles.

The only thing that let this hotel down was the restaurant. The restaurant was pretty much the same every night so to get some variety, venture out into Holetown...however, Holetown is very very quiet and the restaurants are very expensive, taking advantage of tourists.

A taxi from the hotel to Holetown (a mere 10minutes away) is also very expensive.

The beach was lovely (beachfront hotel) and the sea safe to swim in.

Be aware of the guys roaming the beach flogging their bits and pieces to you...say no and they'll move on.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The location is perfect, close to Holetown and not too far from Speightstown, right on a wonderful stretch of beach. The rooms are very well appointed, typical of any Fairmont, and the view being directly on the ocean, is divine. Big balcony with loungers and table and chairs made it a fabulous spot to relax. Dinner in the main Palm restaurant was excellent if a little quiet, and the Sunday BBQ in the pool and baech side restaurnat was good fun, great food, and really good value, especially as a steel band was thrown in. The areas this hotel lost a point for us were that that communal areas were looking a little tired, and we had one evening meal in the poolside bar that ranks among the worst I have ever had in my life. Please avoid this for the evenings, lunch and breakfast are fine. Even the service there in the eveining was surly and unhelpful, whereas the rest of the time, the staff were just wonderful. At a last minute rate of $199 per room, this was a great value hotel.

The hotel is conveniently located just north of Holetown, so it's about a 5-10 minute drive to a variety of restaurants and a very well-stocked supermarket. We stayed here for 2 nights in a 3rd floor Ocean Front Deluxe room. The room was nicely furnished although the layout was bit odd since it's a very long room, the sitting/TV area was not very cozy/comfortable. The bathroom had great toiletries from Le Labo (from NYC) but there were some tiny tiny ants that ran around the bathroom. The wifi was very fast and reliable. The view was fantastic and the balcony was nicely designed with a ceiling fan and lightweight curtains for some privacy.

The highpoint of our stay was kayaking and snorkeling with the turtles. Kayaks were free (singles and doubles) and the guys down at the beach club were very attentive and friendly. There are free guided snorkeling/turtle feeding trips twice a day. The gear they provided was pretty decent. That's an experience not to be missed! The only downside was that the beach club is only open from 9am (or slightly later) and closes at around 4pm.

We didn't have any meals at the restaurants as there are plenty of great options outside of the property. We did have the complimentary tea and that was so-so.

Room Tip: All the rooms face the ocean. There are no elevators, so if you don't like stairs, pay a little...

We stayed for three nights before a business trip to Bridgetown. After a rain-soaked summer in the UK it felt like a little bit of paradise. Staff extremely welcoming and friendly, hotel has a real Caribbean flavour and right on sandy west coast beach. Hotel has kayaks and paddle boards to borrow and you can also rent jet skis on the beach. Just beyond the hotel is popular turtle destination: tourist boats dropped anchor there but we could just snorkel out anytime we wanted. We were on first floor with balcony - ground floor rooms have patio by beach but less privacy that way. Breakfasts were great - massive buffet choice that set us up for the day. There was complimentary afternoon tea - tho we didn't try that. Light snacks at pool bar in the evening and full restaurant as well. Would definitely go back...

Our second visit didn't disappoint, we had the pleasure of staying in the new refurbed ground floor suite. The rooms are lovely, really pleased with the improvements. We enjoyed 2 x nights eating in the hotel, one being the gala dinner which was a superb night. We travelled as a family; grandparents, parents and our 13year old son. There is certainly enough to do for all ages. Although we were at first disappointed that the hotel no longer had a speed boat we were delighted that they had lots of other water sports equipment. Ryan was a delight as always helping the children and making sure everyone had plenty of supervision before going off on their on sailing boat. We also enjoyed the pleasure of our "porters" and evening canapes, thank you guys. Its so lovely to see staff that have stayed at this hotel for so long, and we can't wait to get back to see you all again.

Room Tip: Ground Floor, first block nearest to reception
