“Gorgeous villa in Cyprus for relaxing and experiencing village life.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Our short stay in this beautiful villa will remain with the four of us for years to come. The villa was lovely and had THREE DOUBLE bedrooms with ensuites, which is always difficult to find. The warm welcome we received from the owners, Penny & David, was fantastic, considering that we were a couple of hours late having miss read our map twice. They had arranged for some food, milk, tea & coffee for us on our arrival and a birthday cake for one of our party for celebrations over the weekend. The villa has been restored with much love and attention to detail. It is a welcoming home that gave us space for ourselves and spaces to share a meal and conversation. I intend to return with my family sometime in the future.

“Beautiful house, a great week away”

We have just come back from a week in Anoyira, and had a lovely time there. Firstly Penny, the owner, was excellent. I always check thoroughly when booking and sending money to a house I have found on the net and Penny was very helpful and patient with my enquiries. She arranged for us to be met at the house, very useful as finding our way around the village in the dark was difficult, we were met by the church when we were lost. We were kindly asked for drinks by Penny and friends the next night and we had a lovely time and found out a lot about the area, a lovely personal touch.
To the house; we had one of those moments when you realise that not only are the pictures of the house accurate, it is actually better in real life! The decor is colourful but not overwhelming and it feels like a much loved family house, stylishly done but in a relaxing way. There was no "look but don't touch" feeling that some places have. One concern might be the stairs which are open on one side, and because of the street level, the front door opens halfway up, not ideal for young children or anyone with mobility issues. We had no problems though.
The garden was lovely, courtyard style with both sunny and shady areas to sit in. It has no pool but about 10 mins away there is a taverna with a pool that looked well looked after, although we didn't try it, but only because we ran out of time.
We hope to return next year, thank you Penny.

“A very beautiful home”

My husband and I have been visiting Anoyira for the last 20 years and have stayed in many holiday homes in this delightful village. 5 Filias Street is the best by far. The garden is beautifully private with wonderful area's to sit and relax. The house is just fabulous, Penny and David have thought of everything. This traditional village house has been renovated and furnished with great taste and style.
Staying here is like stepping into the pages of "Homes and Gardens".

“Met all our needs”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

We were part of a small family gathering for a wedding up the slopes of Mt. Olympus. The villa was ideally located for the wedding and for various sight-seeing trips, particularly to the ancient Orthodox churches in the mountains. The villa is uniquely designed, spacious and very well appointed, sleeping six comfortably with good en-suite bathrooms. Not unsuprisingly, the temperature was ideal and we spent most of our waking time at the villa sitting at the large table on the veranda. It is a great place to socialize and entertain. The village of Anoyira is small and sociable with a friendly taverna if you want to walk to dinner. There is a good choice of restaurants within 20 mins drive. I would strongly recommend staying at the villa if you are part of a discerning group or if you want to entertain an even larger group.

“Amazing house in a quiet area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2012 for a stay in October 2012

Well... while picking the house to rent I hesitated a little, as this was the first time we tried with the family that type of arrangement. This house entirely met our expectations and we shall definitely keep on with this type of holidays.

We were traveling with a small kid (less than 1YO), so most important things were (1) enough shade for walking in a buggy, (2) quiet, (3) privacy. This house met all these requirements, here is what we liked most:
1. High walled garden - wall probably 3M high gives a lot of privacy;
2. Beautiful garden (shady grapes, palm and lemon trees, pomegranate and other) provides just perfect shade in a hot sunny afternoon;
3. Garden is big enough to walk around with a kid in a buggy;
4. The village is very peaceful and quiet (probably except for on Sundays morning, when there is a service in a local church starting around 7am);
5. The house is very tastefully decorated inside and has an country-house amazing feeling;
6. Bedsheets are top-notch, better than in many hotels;
7. Friendly people in the village;
8. Amazing folder, arranged by the house owners with information about the village, its history, museums, nearest shops, restaurants and places of interest;

Location: the village is located a little bit up the mountains, approximately 12 km from the nearest beach (no traffic at all on the roads, so getting to the beach and back every day was not a problem), so hiring a car for duration of your stay is recommended (we got a mini-van from Europcar, it was ok). There is one restaurant in the village (5M walk) with local cuisine and two shops where you could get groceries. For a larger choice of food you could go to the nearest village (6KM approx) or to a large supermarket in around 20KM.

Nearest beaches: there are two good beaches in approx 12 km from the house, each having nice restaurants, the beaches are not very crowded, sand and pebbles, sun beds and umbrellas available for a reasonable fee.

To sum-up: Would I recommend the house for a friend of mine? For sure. Would I like to come back for another vacation? Definitely yes.

Liked best: The house generally, privacy and quiet
Liked least: The only nuisance were centipedes which live around, during a dry nigt around 5 would crawl into the house in direction of light, but after the rain there is quire a lot of them.
