“The very best of the seven accomodations in Eastern Sicily we were”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2013

The Casa di Pippinitto in Santa Venerina is a MUST for everyone with plans of visiting Catania (do so!), Taormina, even up to Messina and also Syracusa going south. Following the big road to Enna I guess also Piazza Armerina (with those mosaics; the most beautiful we saw!) is peanuts.
There is nothing more/new I can tell about La Casa di Pippinitto other guests haven't mentioned already: It is by far the most 'real Italian/Sicilian' place we were for 4 days in a spacious 'casa' with kitchen, bedroom and a beautiful bathroom (and...'nicely' priced as well)
Wonderful accomodation for couples but also for families....
And about Cesare? He's the man as described: a perfect (not 'to') host with a real understanding how to be a good host, in other words 'He's got it' (also the looks ;-)...When you feel a bit tired of seeing , exploring all the beautiful buildings in the cities it's a good idea to stay a day at the Casa di Pippinitto and read, stroll a bit in the beautiful garden. Cesare and his family are so lucky to have a place to live like that...
(When you liked 'La Meglio Giuventù....'?Go to La Casa di Pippinitto and feel like you're in that)

Room Tip: Ask the 'casa' next to where Cesare and his family live... A tip all over: Use Google Maps...

My two cousins and ourselves (60-ish years young...) just got back from the most lovely time at Casa P. The place is highy individual with very nice basic en-suite rooms plus one self contained suite with two bedrooms and kitchen facilities. Set in the middle of orchards and gardens on the lower slopes of Mount Etna in the pretty little community of Santa Venerina. Locals very friendly and helpful. Not much English spoken (if at all), but it didn't matter as miming for wanted objects is an enjoyable game. Trying to act out 'chilli sauce' caused much amusement!
But the highlight of it all is Cesare and his family and friends... so helpful and friendly with a great sense of humour. His recommendartion of a suitable guide to ascend Mount Etna was spot-on! The breakfasts were the best ever and he even took pity on the four of us one evening and cooked us a wonderful Sicilian evening meal. Fabulous. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Room Tip: Stay for more than 2 or 3 nights to truly unwind...

Just come back from the most wonderful stay at La Casa di Pippinitto. I had guessed from my earliest emails with Cesare, the property's owner, that we would be well looked after - he was always so prompt and helpful in his responses. And our stay certainly lived up to, indeed exceeded, these expectations. The property itself is beautiful and the breakfasts were amazing but what made our stay really special was our host. Cesare could not have been more helpful and was always on hand with advice if asked - even calling up the local train company to ask about best options for circumnavigating Etna by the wonderful single gauge train after we all failed to decipher the online train timetable. The rooms themselves were very comfortable and had all the things that often get forgotten when the price is so low (hairdryers, decent showers, good beds, etc). There was plenty of outside seating space in for relaxing and eating, a lovely communal room which doubled as the breakfast room with free drinks provided, topped with fabulous views across Cesare's orange groves to the sea in the distance. Stepping out to the front of the property provided great views of Etna. Would definitely recommend.

There are places you will always remember and want to go back to. This is one of them.
We stayed at this wonderful place for 4 nights with the family and enjoyed it so much. It's so quiet and relaxing, lost among lemon trees. The owner loves the house and the property and he loves to share his passion for it. He makes you feel at home from the first minute. Breakfast is great, all with local products. It's ideally located to tour the Etna area.

This was our favourite accommodation in Sicily. Cesare is a fantastic host and the accommodation and location are beautiful. The breakfasts are legendary - lots of fruit and produce from the farm itself. The wine Cesare and his friends make also went down really well in the evening.
We had a studio room with a beautiful bathroom and a kitchen which opened out onto the terrace and the garden. A great spot for breakfast or to sit out in the evening. You are free to wander around the citrus and olive groves from where you get great views of Etna.
Cesare is really helpful with advice on getting to some out of the way places and has a great knowledge of local walks.

The first day we couln't find the B&B so we called and Cesare came immediately to pick us up with his motorcycle. He is the most kind and sweet man! He is so patient and helpful. The place is very nice and our room was big! There was a little kitchen near our room where we could cook. You can get the vegetables from Cesare's garden if you make your own dinner. We went on a fabulous hiking trip recommended by Cesare to the Etna en I got burned a little bit. Cesare saw it and he gave me some home made oil that was fantastic! He even gave me some in a little bottle to take it with me. The B&B is close to restaurants, villages en towns but you will need a car. We would go there again if we go back to Sicily.

My husband and I stayed in La casa di Pippinitto in June 2012 for two nights. We had a minor problem with the directions because a road was closed but Cesare came to find us immediately when we phoned and we followed him on his scooter.
He could not have been more welcoming and produced orange juice squeezed from his own trees and a bowl of cherries from the farm. The room was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was lovely, with good water pressure in the shower.
We were really lucky as the other guests had persuaded Cesare to cook that night, which he does occasionally. He made a delicious pasta alla Norma, meatballs wrapped in lemon leaves and plenty of delicious wine from his neighbours farm. We had a great night talking to the family and the other guests.
Next day we had eggs from the chickens in the garden, delicious bread and homemade jams, more of that wonderful juice and cherries for breakfast. We had booked a day tour of Etna with Carmello , a local guide and geologist and friend of Cesare. I would highly recommend the experience as a way of knowing more about the area and the volcano.

If you enjoy getting off the beaten track and experiencing a relaxed family run bed and breakfast with the most interesting hosts who immediately make you feel welcome, this is the place!
