We knew hotel was quite isolated but didnt realise how much so.You really need a car to get around. The hotel itself was very pretty and the pool and gardens were stunning. HOWEVER it s the worst food we ve ever had in Italy and there was no where nearby you could buy anything to eat. Lunchtime snackbar was very limited too. We had wonderful weather thank goodness so enjoyed relaxing. We both went home 3 lbs lighter!

View amazing from hotel poolside - even lovely mountain view from garden side room. Off season a very quiet hotel allowing rest and recuperation.
Be aware on package tour the walk from road to reception is a steep driveway and a bit of a surprise after a long day travel with a heavy suitcase.
Staff friendly and happy, food simple and plentiful but somewhat uninspiring - especially breakfast. However able to swap meals for dinner to a very simple pack lunch when out on excursion and staff stayed on to deliver dinner due to late arrival.
Be aware to check what language by which the excursion is supported - can be expensive if paying for a trip out in a language you do not understand.
Beds very hard hence quality of sleep variable, however rooms kept spotless.
Also poolside toilet - be aware there is a step down as you enter the door (lights activated by movement - but not sufficiently in time for me to see the step and had a nasty fall onto a hard marble floor).
Keep all receipts (as always in italy) any discrepancies are amended upon delivery of receipts.

Room Tip: Rooms on garden side quieter, however avoid room near lift as noisy. Not a garden exactly more a vie...

The hotel is perched on the hillside overlooking the sea in a very picturesque area but the walk up to the hotel is steep. The hotel staff are helpful and friendly. The room was small but clean but the beds were really hard - we were not the only guests to comment on this. The food was very good, plenty of choice. The local Ciro white wine was good and great value (we didn't try the red). If you run out of reading there is a selection of left behind books - ask at reception.

There is a lovely pool with bar service. There is a charge for the towel for the pool, best take your own if you don't want to pay. Do take mosquito repellant and/or anti-histamine cream. (My sister got very badly bitten.

The beach is lovely and the sea (in September) is warm and there are plenty of deck chairs. The hotel has a shuttle bus to the beach - use this, it is too far to walk in the heat. Locally there are no shops apart from a small mini-market and no local cafes or restaurants as far as we could discover.

Nearby Tropea has plenty of shops and restuarants. The hotel has a shuttle bus to Tropea which costs 10 euros return. The train is cheaper (1 euro) but the station is a 30 to 40 minute walk - too far in the heat. There is no local bus service. There is a good selection of excursions further away such as Stromboli or Sicily but they are pricey.

Overlall, despite some downsides this a lovely place for a relaxing holiday by the pool or beach. We had a week of glorious sunshine, lovely scenery with good food and wine.

The only good thing about this hotel was the views. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. The food was boring and dull. The rooms were small and stuffy although they were clean. Keep your bar receipts and check for hidden charges and overcharging.

To start with the location and position of the hotel is excellent. The area and views are stunning and the pool and reception area are really very good. Howevert this was where the good news stops. We had a week booked for our honeymoon and were continually dissapointed by the food, service and staff. On arrival I mentioned that it was our honeymoon as we were given a standard room. The recptionist simply picked up a key for a sea view room and slammed it down on the counter for us. The food on the first eveing was terrible. We were late but there is no excuse for the dried, tasteless fair on offer. The following day the food did improve but not substantially, we were in Italy and expected to be sampling great cuisine but were served the same bland tasteless buffet every day. The room was basic and small and the bathroon tiny but it was clean. The balcony was tiny and you could not fit the two chairs provided on it together.
We settled the bill a day before we left and were surprised at some of the items included. The fridge in te room was extra per day, the air con was extra as was the safe. It was over 32 degrees every day and this is western europe so you dont really expect to pay extras for basics. In additioan we were charged 10 euros to change £40.00 a commission of over 20%. On the final day we paid the final room bill and again this was incorrect. We challenged this with the staff and were told we had insulted them! If you book the trip to Stromboli it can done 10 Euros a head cheaper in the local town Tropea despite what the Rep may tell you. There were items we simply had not had such as ice creams and extra drinks so keep a record of what you have had. We will be taking this up with Thomas Cook but the message is clear, Italy is beautiful but not at this hotel

Went with holiday company.Cheeky 5 Euros a day for aircon but needed.Slept on ever increasing layer of pillows which were efficiently delivered to our room on request.NEVER had such hard mattress in my life.Very isolated but we were lucky to make friends with fellow travellers so evenings went socially.Too quiet if you are travelling alone.
Food, pool, views, shuttle bus, beach and trips all lovely.

I I don’t know where some of the people in the reviews stayed, but it must have been at another hotel. We went to this hotel with an opened mind after reading all the reviews. I was out of my mind going there, food was basic and not very nice if you like eating rice cooked in cheese with pears sticking out of it, and Calabrain sausages filled with oil. Beds were as hard as iron, my daughter's bed looked like something that came out of prison. The staff were not friendly at all and made it quite clear that they were only interested in the Italian holiday makers. At the end of our stay we were told by out Thomas Cook rep that we would be able to have a shower room to wash in as we was going to be kicked out of our room at 10:00am. But no, only after me having an argument with the manager could we get a room, but was told no to tell any of the other English holiday makers. Please please believe me and save your money and go somewhere else. This has put me off ever going back to Italy.
