As there are only 6 tents at Linyanti you really feel at home the minute you arrive. The staff are very happy and jolly, a lovely atmosphere. The tents are the real thing with zipper and petroleum light at night which makes it very romantic. All the mod cons are in the tent including shower and toilet and the beds are very comfortable.
Dinner with Issac, Lynette and Winna was really enjoyable. We also enjoyed the dancing and singing afterwards. The food was great but the only problem with home cooking is that you just can’t refuse a second helping. Absolutely delicious.
Game is scarcer in this area and you have to look for it but it was very adventurous and we had lots of sightings. As it is a private concession you can go off road and after tracking a lioness for nearly 2 hours we finally spotted her but as it was getting dark soon lost her in the bush. The following morning we were back on her trail and found her resting under a tree. Fantastic. We always knew when it was getting serious as Issac would stand on the hood of the jeep and direct Winna with his foot. Also had a flat tyre on a night game drive which added to the excitement. Issac is a true chieftain with an outstanding personality. His activities with board of environment protection, guide training and excellent skills in tracking are something very special.
Thank you for giving us such a wonderful time at your camp.

Small, initimate, relaxed. From the moment we were welcomed by the team singing we knew would enjoy Linyanti. It may be slightly harder to find the big cats but dont let that put you off. We went to sleep with the elephant quietly eating at the back of the tent and the hippos roaring immediately outside the front. And Isaac the guide is a star. This is the closest we got to wild animals. The rest of the team are brilliant as well. Food is really good and nothing was too much trouble. As for the tents, they were nothing like I expected. Showers, flush toilet, exquisitely decorated. When we go back to Botswana this will be the first place we ink in.

One of the best camps we ever stayed in!!
In the other reviews you can read a perfect description of the place.
It was really that good.
And about the wildlife: We witnessed a lioness killing a buffalo about 20 meters away from our car! An incredible experience.
Indeed ellies and hippo's are to be found around your tent at night. We really loved it!!
Just go there and enjoy!!

We loved this wild and wonderful camp set in the bush. Adorable welcoming staff and an amazing guide called Issac who spotted tons of game ! Food was ok but polenta is [---] ! (in house joke !) Well equipped and comfortable tents. On each of the 3 nights we had Hippo and Elephant waiting outside of our tent at bedtime, which was a little scary but added to the excitement. I got an amazing experience from this much underused tented haven of African brilliance.

From the warm welcome on the air strip, to the melodic chorus sounds of Africa as we drove into our luxury tented camp, there was an instant family feel to the place. The staff were all waiting to greet us with the customary washer and cool drink.

Our fabulous guides, Isaac and Tati were definitely the best guides we had in four weeks of African Safari. Although game was not in abundance like Ngorongoro, Serengeti or Chobe and you did work harder to find game, the sunsets were sensational, the changing colours of the African Sky were superb for photography and for bird lovers, it was a dream.

Whilst at the camp we did see hippo, (you can hear them munching close to your tents during the night), baboons, impala, elephant (one adjacent to the path, whilst walking back to the tents at night and also a large group in the marshes), numerous birds, squirrels etc.

Game drives (provided by the camp) included sightings of giraffe, cape buffalo, elephants, 2 lions, hippo's, quite a few kudo's, monkeys, water buck, an otter, crocodiles, guinea fowl, horn bills, all the water birds and many, many more birds etc. For photography, the marshes provided some of the best photo opportunities in 4 weeks of travel, particularly the reflections on the marshes, sunsets etc.

The luxury tent and bathroom were very comfortable. One melted into the beds at night and the quilts gave us that lovely warmth which enabled a wonderful nights sleep. There was a small lounge and writing desk in the room for your comfort, with some glossy magazines to peruse.

The tents included a decent size ensuite bathroom, with hot water, but it was a little tricky regulating the temperature; but this is to be expected when you are in the bush. The screen separating the ensuite from the bedroom was a little transparent, however for most people this wouldn't be a problem.

The set menu's, afternoon tea, sundowners and open bar were all of an excellent standard. Portion sizes at breakfast (ie eggs) were a little smaller than we had been getting whilst travelling, but the food was always tasty and full of flavour.

The main tent (common area) was very comfortable and it was lovely to relax with a book on the deck and listen to the bird song, barking baboons and enjoy the tranquil reflections of the marshes.

The morning guided (armed) walks were a highlight and a nice change from the game drives and highly recommended. You are perfectly safe on these walks and you get to see things that you don't necessarily see in the game vehicles ie we were lucky enough to see a fully intact black mamba snake skin, porcupine quills, aardvaak homes, termite mounds, giraffe, impala, porcupine burrow, spores of many animals, a hippo family with two babies, kudo and lots of other things of interest. The 3 teenagers and 1 10 yo thought this was a real highlight.

At night you are always escorted back to your tent, for safety, however we all felt comfortable and safe for the duration of our stay.

This was without doubt my favourite camp on our 4 week journey as it was my 3 children (16, 14 and 10) and nephew (14). However, if taking children make sure you have cards, UNO, a game, novel or something for them to do, in between game drives. There are several hours in the middle of the day between lunch and the afternoon game drive.

Martin and Bella were lovely hosts and really had an A Team working with them, with a beautiful family feel. Our guides were wonderful. Isaac (guide) played cards with the kids inbetween drives, which the children adored and we really felt that Isaac and Tati ensured our stay was memorable and extra special. They were 2 fabulous guys.
This camp comes highly recommended.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Linyanti Bush Camp offers the perfect setting for an authentic and wild safari experience. As the only source of water in the dry months, the Linyanti marshes are one of the most sought after destinations in Northern Botswana, boasting a great diversity of game and a peaceful atmosphere. The area offers spectacular birding all year round and is best known for its large herds of elephants that move down to the Linyanti River at the start of the winter months and only move back inland once the main rains arrive. Lion, sable, roan, leopard, and wild dog are also frequent visitors to Linyanti as is the elusive sitatunga antelope, red lechwe, hippo and crocodile. Bordering the western boundary of Chobe in the Chobe Enclave, the Linyanti Bush Camp is an intimate 12-bedded tented camp on the banks of the Linyanti marshes in a private reserve. Activities from the camp include game drives, walking safaris, game viewing from hides, spot-lighting, bird watching, boating and fishing safaris as well as guided mokoro safaris, when water levels permit. Accommodation at the Linyanti Bush Camp is far from primitive with spacious tents, comfortable beds, and en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets, fixed showers and hot water. ... more   less
