“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2013

There are three reasons to visit Kilmartin House Museum.

The first is the exceptional tea room with some really good food and cakes and really friendly staff. Adequate (but not luxury) toilets.

The second is an engrossing and well thought out museum.

The third is a well stocked shop with everything from postcard and gifts to toys and books.

This is an idea stop when travelling south from Oban (about 20 miles).

Plenty of parking.

There is a small fee for the museum but access to the tea room and shop is free (you buy museum tickets from the shop).

“The perfect way to understand the local archaeology”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2013 via mobile

Kilmartin is a small village in the centre of numerous archaeological sites, a paradise for those interested both casually and enthusiastically. But it can be complex....and the solution is to visit the super wee museum. It explains everything for you so clearly and so enjoyably, without boring you to death. Slick, clear and with great stuff for the kids to do, the museum comes with a shop, a cafe and great, friendly staff. Don't miss it!!

“Small but informative”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2013

Approach with care down steps though the garden. Museum entrance at ground/basement floor at back of house. Good film presentation aat entrance worth watching first., Some of the individual earphone items inside did not seem to be working. A lot of interesting information in a limited space.. It has the fresh atmosphere one associates with a privately run Charity. .

Thanks for your review and feedback on the non working earphones - it's really helpful to know when things are not functioning as they should. We have plans to develop the museum to improve all of the facilities.

“Lovely wee museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2013

Great way to spend a couple of hours. Amazing local objects with lots of explanations. Good hands on exhibits for adults and kids. Very good educational displays of Kilmartin Glen, a good introduction to all the standing stones/cairns/cup & ring marks etc that can be explored in the local area. Lovely cafe with great cakes.
