In the Booking.com confirmation for Il Torrione the longitude and latitude references were given, so we were smart and plotted that into our GPS. WRONG DECISION. We were guided onto an extremely bumpy dirt road that finally ended up in a road block showing road closed. Apparantly a flooding 2 years ago had damaged the road.
We called Il Torrione, and although nobody spoke much English, we learned that the main entrance is through the small town of Saturnia. After that, everything went smoothly.
The homepage shows a traditional Italian house, but only breakfast is served there. All the guestrooms are in a separate building 100 meters away. Be sure to book the rooms having a valley view. The swimming pool was excellent, and while swimming you enjoy overlooking the landscape beyond.
The owners are very nice, but they were rather quick to recommend the restaurant Da Mario in the small town of Saturnia up the hill. We went there, but were not very impressed. The next evening we had pizzas in "il Melangolo" on the main square in Saturnia, and that proved to be the worst pizzas we have ever tried. You probably can go to better towns than Saturnia for your meals.
