“Great location but overpriced.”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

The beach bungalows are wonderfully located with a great view of the beach. The staff was friendly but that did not make up for the resorts shortcomings. The beach towels were shabby and there were never enough towels or beach lounge chairs for the number of guests. If we weren't up and out by 7:30-8:00 to get beach towels and lounge chairs, we were out of luck. The restaurant could learn a lot about service and atmosphere from the Phuong Binh restaurant a few doors down. The Arcadia resort has incredible potential, unfortunately the owners and staff aren't making it happen.

This is a no frills beach front hotel that offers great value for money. We spent a week here in early February 2014 and everything was to our liking. The staff was friendly, the breakfast buffet adequate, and the bungalow was large and very fresh and clean. The hotel is located on a very nice stretch of Long Beach. We strongly recommend paying extra for a beach front bungalow as the view is great and you can spend the quiet evenings on the terrace listening to the ocean. The hotel restaurant is not that good but there are many good restaurants within walking distance.

We stayed here over Christmas and spent quite alot on it. The hotel and the rooms are very nice and clean - cannot fault them really. However the service is very poor. We payed alot for our Christmas eve gala dinner and it was very poor. Not even any entertainment?! And running out of pudding. Its got a nice location with its own beach, but your money would go alot further at one of the other nice hotels on the island.

We stayed here for two nights. The staff was well trained, polite, always greeted me with a smile, the grounds are for the most part, well kept, and the food is pleasant. The beach is beautiful, and free of rubbish. There are warm showers, free Wifi 2/7, cable TV, an in-room fridge, and the beer provided is not overpriced. I really enjoyed my stay here. I am only taking off one star for the lack of detail, shown in the rubbish on the side of the restaurant. I stayed in the back rooms (A101-104) its good if you want to save a few bucks, but I suggest, spending the extra cash for a bigger room with a great view.

We moved over to this resort after staying in a more basic place for the same price. The rooms are great, very nicely appointed and huge. Good bathrooms c/w toiletries, hot water and large, well-pressured showers although the lack of bathroom door might be an issue for some the shower and toilet have their own stalls so not such a big deal. The balcony room we had was not an ocean view room as it was on the side but we had one just the same. Beach was excellent, clean and lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas and good choice of music playing from the bar during the day to be entertaining. Not too loud and a good mix. The breakfast buffet was very good with loads of choices. We did get up earlier than most but it was closer to 8 than 6 so not too early. We didn’t have dinner here, as it was a bit pricey but lots of other options nearby. Nice layout for the resort. The staff were very helpful c/w good security and a night watchman who was friendly and always had an eye out for us. Good wifi connections all around and included transport back to the airport.

I've read some other poor reviews and don't understand the complaints but perhaps there are better and worse rooms available at the resort? We negotiated the price when we arrived and got a deal for the nights we stayed. We never had any issues with availability of beach beds, towels, drinks, etc and the breakfast was always good but maybe that was due to our timing versus another guests.

We really enjoyed the resort and would stay again. Recommended.

Room Tip: Maybe check out the room you choose before you check in, as it seems there may be a variety of stand...

It was an early flight and arrived at 8.30am. The taxi costs 150,000 VND from the new airport. There were no clean rooms until 1.30pm - but that was no fault of the hotel as check-in time is 2pm. They looked after the luggage until the room was ready, leaving time to explore the beach and have breakfast and lunch in the many bars and restaurants along the beach, including the resort's own.

Swimming is great. There was a lot of jellyfish close to the shore (they love warm water and overfished areas) but they don't sting and you're away from them after about 10 feet from the coastline anyway. The Arcadia Resort has its own stretch of beach, and they keep it immaculate. I saw rake marks in it early in the morning, so they obviously look after it. It is free of litter, unlike some of the beaches in the south of the island.

The room was 106A, which appeared to be a previous gift shop due to its glazed frontage and door-base lock. However, it was a lovely and cool room with air conditioning and en suite bathroom and fully curtained. Insects could get through the bathroom vent and the door gaps, including a fascinating, huge red caterpillar and cockroach - both were thrown out on a piece of cardboard to a hungry lizard on the patio. After all, it is a tropical island! The toiletries in the bathroom are extensive - shaving kit and toothbrush/paste, etc. The staff kept the room perfectly clean each day, and the reception staff were very friendly and very helpful.

The breakfast buffet is extensive - western and Vietnamese food, fresh omelettes, eggs and pancakes cooked to order, fresh pineapple, melon and taro, fruit juices, bread with toaster and good strong coffee are just some of the spread. However, due to the limited number of tables, it is best to get there as close to 7am as possible.

There is a computer with free internet in the open-air foyer for guests, but just warn you, the keyboard is set to Vietnamese mode! There are tour companies along the beach if you wish to see more of the island. They are good tours - one takes you to the tiny islands to the south for fishing (everyone gets a chance to do it and it is great fun), snorkelling and a tasty lunch on board the boat. Try the sea urchin if offered on the boat - it's creamy and delicious! You are only a 20 minute walk into Duong Dong for the night market, where you can select the fresh fish you would like cooked, and how you want it cooked, and it is brought to your table - incredible.

Overall, it's a brilliant beach location with a cluster of chalets right by the sea.

We stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is beautiful, has it own beach and bungalows but is a bit overpriced. We had to pay $110 per night and it's not worth it. Breakfast is ok, but they ran out of food everyday. So you have to wake up early. Same with the beachtowels provided by the hotel. Also not enough, so if you're planning on going to the beach at 10, no towels left for you. The bar ran out of alcohol too. So no cocktails for you to sip whilst enjoying the lovely sunset from the beach.

Then the rooms. Ok, but again not worth the money. Hard beds with dirty (or with brown/red stains) sheets in it that the staff refused to change, because it wasn't dirty, just some color... Shower didn't have much warm water and just a lazy bit of water coming down. A bit hard for us ladies to wash your (long) hair properly.
The windows have holes and cracks so bugs will fly in constantly. There is a good airco.

We didn't eat at the restaurant because of all the bad reviews. But there are plenty of lovely restaurants at a few minutes walk along the beach.

Last thing, you have to pay in advance. We know why, because you just don't want to pay all the money after your stay here. :-) I'll recommend you another hotel, this one is ok but overpriced.
