2 weeks of happy times on one of the best beaches we have been to, We are looking forward to returning. The staff was great ,friendly, and caring and very helpful to suggest places to see and dine. Made reservations and even got us rides so we did not have to taxi. The Mon night socials were fun and the local resturant owners came with chances for discounted meals and not only pitched their places but their competion for menue items that were not their speciality. The 2 br unit was well equipped and we ate breakfast and lunch there and went out most evenings for dinner. Grocery stores, banks, resturants within walking distance, public buses to other places. The units are clean and the large veranda for breakfast and lunch was our favorite spot for relaxing.and did I mention the staff they are GREAT

Room Tip: We asked for a first floor and had a nice location. As it is a small complex all are close to the beach area.

We are a middle aged couple that recently spent a week at Tranquility Bay. We loved it there, but we do not require many frills on our vacations. The only downside is there are no restaurants on the property that you can use cash or credit cards in. You must buy an all inclusive card for a day or whatever, and this was quite pricy. However, there are quite a few restaurants at the marina that is just a 10 minute walk. The grocery store was a 5 minute walk. The staff at T.B. was very friendly and helpful. They were happy to give driving directions, restaurant tips, and suggestions for outings. The bedroom was very spacious as well as a large balcony. The beach was only steps away, and was beautiful. We took out a Hobie Cat sailboat one day, which was free by the way. We hired a taxi from the airport for $24 US, then rented a car the next day. They drive on the left so be prepared!! The kitchenette was smallish, but fine for what we needed. I would return in a heartbeat!

We enjoyed our week here in January, 2012. The staff was considerate and helpful in making activities reservations for us. They gave us advice on how to use the local buses to get around. We had an ocean side one bedroom condo. We had a nice view of the marina. Although the furnishings of the room were minimal, we were comfortable. When we needed help with the air conditioner, someone came right away and showed us how it worked. During the day, we left it off and kept the sliding doors opened when we were there. There are lots of things within walking distance. We liked the restaurants we went to and the nearby market was convenient. We knew that the property needed updating when made our decision so that was not an issue. The beach is very nice and large.

Room Tip: We had the first floor nearest to the ocean. Great room.

We enjoyed a week on the beautiful island of Antigua (3/17-3/24/12). The beach is beautiful and the people very nice. This resort has some issues to iron out before it can be rated higher than a 3 star property, however.

First the good:
The check in was quick and uneventful. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms ok. Hot water and pressure excellent. We had some maintenance issues that were fixed immediately (lights, switches, and broken shower head). Daily garbage pick up and towel service.

Now the bad:
The couches and chairs were so uncomfortable we brought in the patio chairs to sit on.
the dryer was never fixed so could not wash/dry as much as we would have liked. The Internet service is really non existent in the rooms. When speaking with the front desk about this I was told to turn it off and enjoy my vacation....totally inappropriate since some of us have to work while on vacation or have to be in contact with family back home. Also told at front desk that information was in the room regarding restaurants, meal plans, excursions, spa service etc. Whenever we asked for help. We never got this information booklet (3 ring binder with everything from tv channels to resort services) until 5 days into the week. It would have been nice to know there was entertainment nightly at the neighboring Jolly Beach Resort. We tried to book 4 massage services with the spa (and help of the front desk) but never got a response. Never a yes or no or change the day/time....just ignored. Although the beach is beautiful, it needs to have more shade. There are umbrellas for rent next door ($10 per day) at castaways beach bar, but we didn't feel comfortable with this location. There are just a few pallapas very close to resort property line but very far from the water if watching your bags etc. There is a hammock lounge which was nice and peaceful (also good for quick cover during afternoon drizzles) but there were only 2 available at any given time.

Although there was a severe lack of info and customer service, we did enjoy our vacation and this beautiful island. A few tips: Bring a cooler bag for beach/pool if you are not going with meal/drink plan. Bring a portable umbrella for shade and make sure there is a 3 ring notebook in your room with all the information you will need. A short walk from the resort entrance is a little restaurant at Jolly Marina called Crows Nest that has great food and service. They have free wifi and its very reliable unlike your room. Also, just a little further from there is a full service grocery store for snacks and drinks etc. We found a great taxi driver on day 2 that I would highly recommend. Ask for Cory...he is excellent, polite, and a very safe driver. He is Also very knowledgeable about the island and will make getting around easy.

I have to agree with most of the other reviews for this resort...it is a great place to vacation, especially if you are looking for a low key resort with two bedrooms and a kitchenette. My two sons (17 and 18) stayed at this resort March, 2012. We all agreed that it was the place to stay in Antigua. We have stayed at several Caribbean Islands and Antigua is one of our favorites.

PROS: The staff are very friendly, helpful and go out of their way to make you comfortable.
The beach is clean and quiet. There are local merchants who walk the beach selling
excursions & products, however as soon as you state, "no thank-you", they leave
you alone.
The 2 bedroom/2 bath suite was very roomy. There is a small kitchenette with a stove,
fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, blender, and plenty of utensils/dishware.
The local restaurants and grocery store are all in walking distance (longest walk was 5
minutes - Al Porto restaurant). You do not need a golf cart unless you have small
children and or have trouble walking.
There is security all around the resort. They will not let people in they do not have
the designated wristband.

CONS: There is an access road behind the resort which is busy....loud until around 11:30 p.m.
and early in the morning (6:30 a.m.).
The noise from the road could be blocked by having your AC unit on. However, the one
in our master bedroom was very loud (on the 3rd day it started making a loud noise
similar to a leaf blower and despite asking for it to be repaired, it was not.)
However, every other request was handled in a timely fashion...they may not have
been able to repair the unit.

We did not participate in the all inclusive package (we preferred the restaurants outside the resort). While we did have access to the amenities at Jolly Beach Resort, we did not use most of them. My son used the gym and we stopped in the tiny casino (a small room). We did not find the pool appealing, but preferred the ocean regardless.
You need to get up early if you want a spot on the beach with a hut. People start putting towels on chairs as early as 6:00 a.m. We never had a problem getting a lounge chair, but we did get up early to ensure a spot in the shade.

We took a boat ride around the island. I highly recommend Treasure Island Cruise. http://www.treasureislandcruises.ag/tourcir.html
We took the circumnavigation tour and really enjoyed it. If you are looking for a party boat, this is not the one you want. The boat circles the island, stopping to snorkel. After snorkeling they open the bar and serve a sizable lunch. The crew members were courteous and friendly.
We ate dinner at several different restaurants O.J.'s (great food and 2nd floor deck overlooks the water..need a taxi to get to), Castaways (casual food), Dogwatch Tavern (ok), Al Portos (not to be missed), Crow's Nest (good happy hour specials). Make sure you ask reception about nightly specials at restaurants.

Tips: Ask reception desk staff what is going on each night (specials, etc) and if you typically attract misquotes, take bug spray for the evening (especially if eating at restaurants on the beach).
