Awful food (Gourmet Restaurant closed) - one man reduced to eating beetroot at lunch because no food edible. Dried burgers, dried up pasta not my idea of good food! Cockroaches next to kitchens, and the HEAT without aircon in August was unbelievable! Filthy towels, fitness area non existent, watersports virtually non existent. An expensive mistake, escaped after 2 days to another hotel at a huge cost. Cocobay stung us for 4 nights extra cost for 'cancellation' despite tour operator transferring us. 4* NOT!!!
Oh and this 'all inclusive' charged us US$2 for each small bottle of water, to be bought from reception.

We have just returned from Cocobay after having spent 8 days there, we also stayed here in April 2003. It was still as lovely as ever the staff were very friendly especially in the restaurant.
There were alot of bugs this time of year which we had'nt noticed before and I must admit air conditioning would of been nice this time as it was very humid.
The only down side to our stay was the general atmosphere, the managment had let a family stay who had young children and this caused alot of bad feeling amongst the guests, as this is supposed to be 12years and above only.It did'nt effect us but come the evening when you want to sit and have a drink and get to know people, some of the guests were happier to spend their evening sitting and moaning, which you don't want on holiday.
We would most certainly return to Cocobay again and strongly recommend you ask for the room called Loblolly Cay, which has a super view across the bay.

We went to Cocobay to get married and relax. We arrived a week before our wedding day and everything was already in place awaiting the final details, it was perfect. I was told to forget everything and relax and let them take control, I had no reason to worry, our day was fab and our evening meal on our wedding night in 'Sheers' was magical. A big thank you to the owner of the resort for the Champagne!!!

As some reviews had us a little worried we were pleasantly surprised at how nice our 'cottage' was, the extra cost of a sea front room was worth every penny, the views across the bay at sunset and first thing in the morning are spectacular and what dreams are made of.

Our maid Verona was so friendly I wanted to bring her home with us, and even though her Mum was ill she still managed a big caribbean smile and nothing was a problem. Kenroy made our holiday, and my husband does a mean impersonation 'tonights pasta is', those who have been will know what I mean. Dave behind the bar was fab as was everyone else we came into contact with.

The infinity pool was beyond belief and even when the two noisy american's arrived it could not dent our happiness at being in Cocobay.

Perfect for couples, honeymooners and for making friends, can't wait to revisit.

My husband and I stayed at the Cocobay resort for our honeymoon and it lived up to our expectations and more! The cottages were basic but very clean and in keeping with the mood of the complex. The staff were super friendly and mega helpful. Special mention for Kenroy, David, Joel and the reception staff. We made some good friends with the other guests and this socialising made up for lack of entertainment. Beware! alcohol measures veer to the extra large in Cocobay! The beach was beautiful and sea was warm, clear and lots of fun! However, sand flies are a menace! Cocobays swimming pool was very inviting especially at sunset, a chance to cool down with a rum punch and chill after a hot day on the beach. We both enjoyed the breakfast and lunch which is buffet style and all freshly cooked but dinner was sometimes too fancy for our liking, however we can not fault the taste, presentation and choice of menu and service was A1. A tip gentlemen, take long trousers as anything else is not permitted in the evening. We will be returning to Antigua and to Cocobay to unwind, relax, chill out, and just have a great time!

Just returned from a lovely 2 weeks in Cocobay - it is exactly as it is in the brochure. The location is the best on the island, the beach is beautiful, the infinity pool stunning..... BUT it is only a 3 star hotel and there are some flaws...

....The rooms are nice and private, but it takes a while to acclimatize to not having air-con, and things are a little bit shabby (holes in linen and towels, for example). The bathrooms are not very nice - all spotlessly clean, but rusted taps, cracked tiles etc., although showering with a view of the ocean is pretty spectacular!

The service is usually very good but kind of depends who is on duty - food is better than other all inclusives we have stayed at, but the evening meals are a bit hit and miss. We were a bit fed up by the end of the holiday and ate out quite a lot. Lots of the free watersports equipment is a bit dodgy (broken snorkels, kayaks with holes etc.) and the snooty manager tried to tell us it was our dault when we complained!

Having said all that, Cocobay is an ideal place for a honeymoon because it is so private - we had a fabulous time despite the flaws I've mentioned - it is so intimate and relaxed, and the views from our balcony were breathtaking (well worth the sea-front supplement). We have returned home feeling totally relaxed and refreshed and would thoroughly recommend the resort - as long as you are not expecting 5 star luxury!

Just returned from our honeymoon nine nights at Cocobay have to say my wife and I had a fantastic time. Was a bit worried having read some of the reviews but found all were totally unfounded. The staff of the resort were all excellent especially Kenroy the maitre di, David and Peanut behind the bar and Abby on reception. Can't really find anything to fault the place on.
If you are worried about the mossies then we must of been lucky because we only ended up with a couple of bites between us. Where as some people were less fortunate. As long as you take precautions to protect yourself you shouldn't have a problem. The rooms were great with superb views of the bay. If your looking for a palce to chill out and relax then this is for you. Granted there is not alot to do at night but then just mixing with the guests at the bar over a rum punch or two (generally enough) is great way to finish off the day.

Stayed there a week after an impulse purchase on an auction. It is a beautiful setting, within four beaches, on an untouched part of the island. The cottages are lovely and on the back side of the resort set far enough apart to retain privacy. On the front facing the beach they are a stone's throw from one another. But they are lovely, as is the setting. When we stayed there kayaking was also available bu any other watersports cost extra and were rather pricey - $45/half hour for jetskiing, as opposed to $30 in Jamaica, for instance.
The rooms are not air conditioned, and when it rains you will get damp; however, there are lovely porches with hammocks overlooking the beautiful hills. Every morning we enjoyed our breakfast while watching the birds at the nearby sanctuary and laughing at the goats who are herded nearby.

The food was the big drawback. Breakfast and lunch were fine - a buffet set outside on a terrace, salad and fruit available. Dinner ranged from ok to mediocre. If you like your meat well, well done - I would call it overcooked, you'll be fine. Beef stew was the highlight, along with the Caribbean BBQ, which was the best. Other efforts to fuse Caribbean cooking with Asian influences felt forced and unsuccessful. In fact, if the food was better, we would give this place four stars.

Antigua is no bargain - be prepared to pay cash for the best deals. We rented a car and went touring ourselves to get away for a couple of days (and to get a decent meal).
