“Our home away from home!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014

My boyfriend and I loved our stay at the verandah!! All of the staff are so friendly and very accommodating!! There was a variety or water sports activities to participate in at the beach. The beach area is nice but it's a little crammed because they have SO many lounge chairs out there and only half of the beach is nice enough to use. However, while we were there they were doing some construction and making the other half of the beach more pleasant. Nightly entertainment consists of some sort of band or DJ playing in the main bar area and they are there from 9-11. Very family friendly place, a lot of kids and things for kids to do. The resort is not too big so it is pretty safe for kids and teens to hangout and do their thing with their friends. The buffet restaurant had really good food, in fact, we were there for 12 days and only are at one of the restaurants once and ate at the buffet every other night. If you want to eat at the restaurant, you need to make a reservation and when you call you will have to make it for the next day because they book their reservations a day in advance. Overall we loved our trip and would definitely come back! The staff are awesome and the resort is very nice!! :)

was really on edge when i first got there and did not know what to expect ,looked small, check in was no bigger than my living room and kitchen put together. but was in for the shock of my life ,the staffs, where very helpful,,,the beach was fantastic, the pool was not over crowded like some resorts i have been too. the resort was huge...prepare to do some walking ,because the shuttle is not that reliable to take you from point A-B but with a lot off patience it will come.my opinion is that they need different shuttles and bell hops to take the arriving guest to there rooms when they arrive and the regular shuttle to take you between the main lobby to the pool area and that would cut out your waiting time for a shuttle to get to your room if you don't feel like walking.but thats my way off thinking.the food was good but not a lot off variety @ nite but i must say you never get the same thing, for breakfast bake beans sausage eggs was the norm...the rooms were nicely done an empty refridgerater and the only place for you to go to get some thing to buy and put in there is by the lobby ,which was to expensive or had nothing you wanted ...i sudgest you gotake a day go into town and buy all the goodies you want and store for your midnite snack it will be cheaper...last but not least the nightly entertainment needs to improve not much, and not much to write home about .and there is nowhere outside the hotel nearby to get entertained either, but on that note ,i would come back ,because i was at peace and they made me feel i had the whole place to myself......

Absolute heaven...just a shame the staff have to put up inadequate managment. I complained at 11.30pm that i had cockroaches. I was sent a lady with a broom who just laughed at me and my children. Over the course of an hour my daughter killed 7 cockroaches, i was then moved to another room. The only person to say sorry was the nightguard who said "it was unacceptable". The manager, after repeatedly being told and me being loud in reception, refunded a $100. Its such a shame as the staff make ur holiday but i'll stick to Barbados.

I have always a great time at Veranda. The service, the food, the whole ambience is quite thte relaxing experience. It is great when everyone in your family can totally enjoy themselves to the fullest. Can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: To me, the room location does not matter.

This was a beautiful resort and we had an amazing stay here. The staff are so friendly and kind, the accommodation is lovely and the food plentiful. We don't often do a hotel holiday as we don't like the idea of fighting for a spot by the pool or queuing for dinner, but throughout our stay we felt none of this- extensive grounds, empty sunbeds at all times, lots of equipment for the water sports, golf etc. This gave a sense of personal space and tranquillity. The only exception to this was the silly system for booking yourself into the non-buffet style dining. There was a mad dash at 7am where everyone tries to book themselves into one of the other restaurants (and sometimes without success). Not sure why they can't devise a more efficient and fairer system as this seemed to be a common gripe amongst fellow guests. The other drawback was the evening entertainments programme, which I would call feeble. The stage/ dance floor was the corridor alongside the bar and apart from a couple of nights there was nothing much happening and then it was limited to 9-11 pm! To us that was a disappointment as one great thing about a hotel holiday should be that the local entertainment comes to you. That said, we had a marvellous time- very relaxing. Above all, we loved the chalet style accommodation set along winding 'streets'. It gave it a holiday village feel, rather than having to take a elevator up to a little room on the5th floor, we had our own little bungalow in a garden area overlooking the sea. Perfect.

Room Tip: Try for a sea view over the main beach; avoid a chalet around the pool area as these are less privat...

Although it has been several years since we stayed, this remains one of my favorite vacations ever. We were three generations, extended family of six adults and two young boys. Facilities were excellent, with things for everyone to do. Although I chose the resort for its childcare program, our boys decided to stay with us. My brother and his partner enjoyed the quieter beach; the rest of us spent most of our time on the more active beach with its kayaks, beach toys and floats. Great location near a nature preserve which makes for a pleasant walk. Great that everything was prepaid so we didn't have to count pennies. Food good, good variety. Pleasant staff. Thank-you. Wish there were other resorts like this on other islands closer to home.

Just came back on August 2nd, 2014. We stayed for 3 nights at the Nonsuch Bay and then came over to the Verandah for 4 nights after seeing this resort advertised as a "good all inclusive". Let me just tell you we wished we never left the 1st resort. First impressions are everything when we pulled up to the front I had a funny feeling we were in trouble. This resort is soooooo TIRED! We are not picky people and can go with the flow wherever we stay but this was BAD. So where do I start #1 WORST customer service ever. The staff looks like they should be on suicide watch! They are so unfriendly you honestly feel bad to ask a question, order a drink or do anything just might set them over the edge. Stay away from the bartender with the long dreads at the rasta bar, if looks could kill well I would be dead and unable to write this. #2 food at the a la cart restaurant Bucaneer was decent but the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner made a 2 star in Cuba look good. We rushed to the beach grill by 6 each day before it closed so we could eat our dinner there and not the creepy buffet. #3 the rooms um 800 sq ft I think not. We payed the extra for the water front room and when we got in I opened the balcony door and laughed - it was a swamp front view is the only way I could describe it. I was pretty pissed over this called the front desk to be told that sorry the good water front suites #170-189 only were reserved for 2 sets of families staying so we got trumped? They changed us to room 130 which had a little bit of a better view but let me tell you the bedding is gross, smelly and old and so uncomfortable. In the little fridge they leave you with a pitcher of tap water only and god forbid you ask for a bottle of water to take to your room they charge you $5.00 so much for all inclusive? The rooms are so far away from everything you have to carry a plastic cup of tap water which has spilled by the time you get to your room. Please do not ever stay here. It really sucks that you take a 1 week holiday when lets be honest we are so limited to time off and spending it here was so upsetting especially when no one cares to listen. My 15 year old son was pretty sad the whole time thankfully they have a good mini golf course which was our only saving grace. Spend the extra money to go to St James Club or one of the other all inclusives we wish we had.

Room Tip: None of the rooms are good.
