A very good solution for visit Antigua. We stayed for four nights at the Avave Landings cottage. It's a delicious cottage with a beautiful view on the sea. We have rent a car and visit almost all the island, but also near the cottage there are beautifus beaches and good restaurants.

We just got back from a week in Antigua, and we stayed for three nights at the Agave Landings cottage. We loved it!

I'd done a good bit of research and knew that I wanted to be on the southwestern side of the island for the beautiful blue Caribbean ocean, and we got it. Agave is a short distance from Ffreyes beach (though to be honest, I'd rather drive than walk, since I don't want to broil in the sun), which is lovely and didn't seem to be frequented by too many other tourists. (There were a couple boats that stopped there in the middle of the afternoon, discharging their 20 tourists or so and then gathering them back up an hour or so later. The beach also has two small shade shelters, though one's roof is a bit hole-y. I'd still prefer my own umbrella though.)

The cottage at Agave was wonderful -- clean and cozy, and both the owner and the on-island managers were wonderfully responsive and helpful. The cottage does have a TV, a local phone line, and WiFi, if you're concerned about technology. It also has a stovetop, oven (no temperature-marked knob though, just have to eyeball the gas flame), and microwave, refrigerator, blender, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, and there's a tiny cooler for you to take with you to the beach too! There's a washing machine downstairs, a drying rack outside, a grill, and even a cute little swingset for kids. The cottage itself has both an a/c unit and fans.

It was so nice to sit on the balcony and watch the sunset and have a cool drink of water in the evenings. The cottage is up a flight of stairs from the parking area for Agave, which is on somewhat of a steep hill, but this isn't an issue unless you're mobility-impaired. Since you're up on the hill a bit, you have a clear view to the beach and of the surrounding area, which is great for the aforementioned sunsets!

Agave is just a short drive away from Jolly Harbor, which is great because the Epicurean supermarket is there, which has all sorts of things: prepared food, deli meats, cheese and pate, snacks, beer, toiletries, etc. We took a couple of trips from Agave which were a 45 min drive or so, but if you don't want to drive much (left-hand side of the road, remember!) then you have lovely beaches and tasty food (Dennis Bar and Restaurant, garlic shrimp, yum) nearby.

We also appreciated that Agave is a gated property, so you need a code to get in the gate. We found it to be quiet and relaxing, though we were the only people there at the time, so I suppose that could potentially change if there were other people in the other apartments. The cottage itself is detached and has plenty of privacy, though.

So, to sum up: Beautiful, convenient location, clean and lovely cottage with all the amenities you could want, great owner/managers, and a wonderful relaxing vacation for us!

We just returned home after a three-month stay a Agave Landings. It was absolutely wonderful! In fact, we are returning for three more months next year. The staff were friendly and efficient, accommodating our needs and requests; the facilities were great and the setting was heavenly. It is but a short walk to the beach, where there is an outdoor shower to help you get the sand and salt off. The beach itself is gorgeous, mostly empty of other tourists and is generally only busy on Sundays, when the locals use it. Even then, most would not consider it busy at all, especially if you were used to beaches in Hawaii or even other beaches in Antigua on which there are resorts.

The accommodations at Agave Landings are clean, attractive and spacious, with outstanding views of the countryside and the sunset (at least from the upstairs suites). The grounds are well landscaped, with flowers galore and if you happen to be there during the blooming of the jasmine, the scent in the evening is intoxicating! The only times any of the windows were closed was during a rain; otherwise they were open to the breezes and the birdsong.

It is easy to get around by bus, making a car rental not really necessary; certainly we never needed one.

Room Tip: Upstairs suites offer the best views.

We went to Antigua for the first time with two friends. We were their for eleven days and wanted a place away from the crouds but still close to the necesities of life. We were just overwelmed at how wonderful Agave Landings turned out. It was much better then we ever expected. Three wonderful beaches within a short walk, restrauants you could walk to or a short drive away. very good staff and support, they took care of you like they new you and you were a friend. It was wonderful and we will return. Our dates of travel were Jan 2012.

We are just back from 2 weeks in Antigua, stayed at Agave Landings. Everything was excellent. Very clean facilities, friendly assistance from start to finish, can't think of anything that was an issue. Would recommend this accomodation to anyone looking for a peaceful place to spend some time. Ffreyes Beach is nice, there are other beaches within walking distance if you want a different view. The local bus service is cheap [$1USD each] and friendly, so get out and meet the locals. It is an inexpensive tour . It is a short walk to Jolly Harbour for groceries, catch a cab home for $10USD+ tip if you have heavy stuff or a bus if only a light load .A couple of local restaurants within a short walk, good food, plus several at Jolly H. Felt safe, but would suggest not walking on the main road at night... not because of security, just that roads are narrow, they drive on the opposite side and no sidewalks. There is walking space on the sideroad at Agave if you like to stroll after supper.Amazing sunsets, have a drink on the deck and watch. Locals use the beach on Sunday, set up music, etc. It is a way to enjoy local culture, so get out and enjoy.I have family who are already looking into booking Agave for next year. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Upper floor for best view.

Agave Landings was more than we could have asked for. It was more than what we had expected. My husband and I came for our honeymoon to Antigua for a week. We wanted something quiet and secluded but near where the action was taking place. Agave provided us just that and more. Our 1 bedroom villa was in the perfect location where during the day and at night we had a calming silence. And at night the waves from Fryes beach (3 minutes away by foot), along with the tranquil noises of the frogs and croquets, provided with a romantic atmosphere. And when we wanted to go where the action was, Jolly Harbour, English Harbour and St Johns were not far away where we could go out to eat, drink and have a great time.
The 1 bedroom apartment was well decorated, well furnished and had more space than we had imagined. It had a lot of storage space for clothes, suitcases and food. Everything was neat and clean and everything worked as well as it should have.
The management had even put information about the island, brochures of activities that were offered, and instruction on how to work all of the appliances and instructions of what to do if we were having difficulty. And if that was not enough, Margot was always a phone call away to help out in any way that she could.
As well, Micheal, Agave Landings recommended taxi driver, was kind, friendly and available 24 hours a day for us. Not only did he take us to where we wanted to go but on the way he would point out many attractions and give us a history about the island and its events.
We greatly enjoyed our stay here in Antigua and would highly recommend it to couples, honeymooners, families and anyone who wants ample space, clean, well furnished villas, which is quiet, private yet minutes away from the action.

We stayed with our two teenagers in a two-bedroom apartment at Agave Landings for two weeks from December 18, 2010 to January 1, 2011.

We booked online directly with the owners (Paul and Rosemarie). They have now returned to the U.S., however, so when we were there we were looked after by the staff at Villa Management. Everything went smoothly in terms of the booking and there were no surprises regarding the property or accommodations. Amy and Margot with Villa Management were always available when we needed anything and were quite pleasant and helpful. They met my husband when he arrived and gave him excellent directions on how to get back to the airport to pick up me and the kids (we were on separate flights because we couldn't get 4 seats on the cheapest one). They arranged for a cab to take the kids and me back to the airport on our last day (husband left with the car several hours earlier) and came to the apartment with the cab to see us off.

The apartment was large, clean, and well appointed. There are air conditioning units in the living room and in both bedrooms that are operated via remote control. They all worked extremely well. The main door to the unit is at the back and there are doors from both the living room and the master bedroom out onto a huge (6 feet wide and at least 20 feet long) balcony. The kitchen comes equipped with a fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave oven and washer and dryer. All bedding and towels are provided (including beach towels) and the kitchen is well stocked with dishes, cutlery and various pots and pans. The beds are comfortable, although the one in the master room is a double rather than a queen.

The property is fully fenced with a gate that operates via remote control or key pad and both the main door and the two doors onto the balcony had dead bolts. This is important because it is a bit isolated. You can walk to Fryes Beach and Dennis' Restaurant. For pretty much everything else you need a means of transportation (we rented a car for the full two weeks we were there). Jolly Harbour is about a 5 minute drive away. There is a good grocery store there as well as several restaurants. There is also gym at the golf club, which our kids used several times.

We did quite a few different excursions while we were there including the Extreme Circumnatigation Tour, the Antigua Rainforest Canopy Tour (the kids did this one twice), and a helicopter tour of nearby Monserrat (which has an active volcano). We were happy with all the excursions. We also went to Devil's Bridge, Shirley Heights, and St. John's on our own. We tried a lot of different restaurants and were pleased with most of them. Each of us had one or two meals we weren't thrilled with, but most were excellent. My husband said the driving wasn't too bad. The roads are not in the best condition, but the drivers didn't seem as crazy as they are on some other islands.

All in all, I would highly recommend Agave Landings to anyone looking to rent private accommodation on the island.
