I wasn't sure if Curtain Bluff would live up to expectations but I shouldn't have worried because it was wonderful. Imagine an all-inclusive resort where you never have to make reservations for the restaurant, never have to reserve a beach chair, never have to wait for a drink, never have to worry about tipping, and never have to ask twice for anything. The setting is beautiful and while the rooms don't have modern gadgets and gizmos, the view is stunning. The best thing about the resort is the staff who work together to make sure everything gets done. The spa is very nice. Although most people are content to relax on the beach, there are things to do if you want, including complimentary snorkel trips. I am very depressed to be back to reality.

We first stayed here 18 years ago and have returned more than 25 times.

Sir Howard Hulford and his lovely wife Chelle, along with manager Rob Sherman and a host of dedicated and loyal staff, continue to amaze. Each v isit yields new and impressive improvements designed to cater to the comfort of the guests. For example, the expanded bar adds a new dimension to the atmosphere and creates a great area for relaxation and fellowship with friends and new acquaintances. Year in and year out Curtain Bluff establishes a standard of excellence and concern for its clientele that is unmatched anywhere in the Caribbean.
Hey, it's not for everyone: some folks want more glitz and glamour, or more excitement, etc. If so, try Sandals or Jolly Beach. But if you just want to be spoiled, treated like you are family, and made to feel like you really matter to the people who are serving you, then head to Curtain Bluff as soon as you can.

We went to Curtain Bluff for our 10th anniversary in December of 2007 and our experience was quite a pleasant one. The rooms were nice and well appointed. Ours was on the beach and it was absolutely glorious to step right out our back door on to the surf beach every morning. They have 2 beaches there... a rougher surf beach and a quiet bay beach. All of the watersports, dining, bar, etc are on the bay beach. Therefore, we had the surf beach largely to ourselves. It's a great place to soak up the sun... not really appropriate for swimming, though we did our share of bobbing around out there. The dining is a cut above all other all-inclusives that we have tried. There were plenty of options and we never found ourselves wanting for anything. Complimentary room service for drinks and meals is a nice option. Motorized water sports are also included in the rate (with the exception of the yacht charters), making for a very nice deal! We enjoyed a morning snorkeling trip out to the reef as a part of our stay. Fishing charters are also included, though we chose not to take advantage of that option. The staff was very friendly and accommodating at all times and the owners, who live at the resort, were very welcoming. If you want to "be in the middle of things" in Antigua, then Curtain Bluff is not going to be right for you. It is at the far end of the island and it's a $40 cab ride back into the heart of Antigua. But for our purposes, we had no intention of doing much outside of the resort and therefore found it a perfect vacation spot. (We did hire a guide for a day tour of Antigua and enjoyed that immensely.) We would certainly love to return.

Just returned, sadly, from our first trip to CB - two weeks of heaven on earth.
It lived up to our (high) expectations in every possible way from the moment we were welcomed at reception by Wendy until our final goodbye to the hotel yesterday morning.
I can only conclude those who have found anything remotely negative to write must have been staying at a different hotel!
We stayed in 2 interconnecting junior suites with our 2 teenage children in the other room. The view over the surf beach was to die for and going to sleep at night with the ocean roar gently in the background was my idea of heaven. The bathroom was amazing - I have stayed in smaller bedrooms than this, and the rate at which linen was changed and replenished was equally amazing.
The site itself is so beautiful - planted with such a variety of trees and plenty of wildlife- geckos and hermit crabs especially. Both beaches were wonderful - the calm beach has so many shady spots which allow you to lie all day and do nothing more strenuous than read, listen to your iPod, and order another banana crush from the barmen who wander round on a regular basis taking care of your refreshments.
The food is plentiful, fresh and varied. In 2 weeks we noticed the occasional dish repeating on the dinner menu, and the lunch buffet too, but there was so much variety that it didn't matter. We also loved the fact you could order food in your room - great for your first breakfast when your body is still on UK time! The only downside is the amount of weight you put on in the process - island style banana pancakes are not high on the list of diet foods!
Our 14-year old was delighted he could use the internet room and Xbox whenever he wanted, but spend a large part of his time lying in a hammock on the beach.
We didn't do many outings - why would you! - but the 3 we did were brilliant. Highly recommend the Rain Forest just up Fig Tree Drive - the 9 ziplines and the challenge course were fun and exiliarating. Swimming with the rays at Stingray City was amazing - great creatures and the guides were very knowledgeable. And we did a circumnavigation tour with Wadadl Cats (on a catamaran) which was a full day on the sea in the sun, with snorkelling at Green Island in the middle. Lovely.
Like most people on here, we cannot find anything bad to say about CB - and will we go back - most certainly one day!

Our experience during our stay at curtain bluff consisted of fantastic service, excellent food, and lots of relaxation. When we first arrived for our honeymoon we were checked into the junior suite. When we arrived in the room, there happened to be a tree blocking our beautiful view from the balcony. We telephoned the front desk and within minutes the staff arrived to bring our bags to another room. They had upgraded us to a deluxe room. It was beautiful ..the rooms were always kept clean and turndown service was excellent. Towards the end of our stay we requested to move to the morris bay suite as a treat to ourselves for the final two nights. The staff accommodated our request and even gave us the room as a complimentary upgrade.

We stayed a full week and the menu only repeated maybe once toward the end of the stay. The food was great, staff was more than friendly and the service was amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel. I would suggest bringing some bug spray along for the ride as the rooms are moderately enclosed. Other than that, it was a relaxing, high quality stay.

My wife and I just got back from our first visit to Curtain Bluff and second trip to Antigua. Antigua is a friendly, laid back, relaxing island. Don't look for any high rises here or large resorts with casinos and 15 pools, etc. Antigua is ... well....Antigua. Narrow roads, lots of goats and cows roaming around, and some of the most absolutely gorgeous beaches, sunsets, and views you will find in the Caribbean. Before I get to CB, let me comment on the people of Antigua. They want you there and are happy to see you. My wife and I got lost one day and stopped to ask directions. The young man said - follow me - jumped in his car and drove 5K to our destination and he would not take a tip - just waved and said have a nice day. Another member of our family had a flat tire - a car following them stopped - a man jumped out and changed the tire for them. There were other examples.

Now Curtain Bluff - what a wonderful resort. Its Caribbean open air design is fantastic. Our room ( a suite) was superb. It was hot last week so we ran the air conditioner at night and slept comfortably and were still able to here the surf crashing outside our room. The maid service was top notch. Never a problem. Always had towels, etc. Bed was very comfortable. Bath was huge and well stocked. Always had hot water and plenty of it. Refrig was stocked with bottled water, soda and beer all week!

The food was plentiful and expertly prepared. Breakfast (730AM-930AM) was fine. Eggs (any style), pancakes, french toast, etc. Fresh breads and pastries. All you wanted. On the way to breakfast I picked up the NY Times summary passing thru the library. Continental Breakfast served til 10-1030 if you miss. Lunch was served bay side at the beach grill. You had your choice of a great salad/fruit/fish/, etc. buffet or a grill menu. I am a fried shrimp fan (on the menu). Burgers, club sandwiches, etc. Afternoon Snack at 4 outside the bar - cookies, cakes, cheese, fruit. Hors Doerves at 7pm and dinner seating from 730-930PM. Dinner is a 5 course meal - Soups/Salads/appetizers/entree/desert. Entrees - 5 choices a night...2 seafood/2 meat/1 pasta usually. Outstanding dinners! Drinks - all day 10AM-11PM - anything you want. Top shelf selections.

Activities - fabulous. We loved the bands that played thru dinner until 11PM. All kinds of music. Excellent. On the bay - any water activity you could think of - Deep sea fishing, snorkeling, scuba, water skiing, Hobies - Kayaks, paddle boats, sailing - all right there and ready to take you - included!

Nice library. Sundries and resort shop.

Tennis facility - beautiful! Spa - fantastic! Work out room/Gym - not the largest I have ever been in but top notch equipment and a great palates/aerobics/yoga workout space. Putting green too ouside the dining area!

The grounds - simply beautiful. The pics don't do it justice.

Manager's cocktail party on Thursday night! Great way to mingle and meet other guests in an absolutely stunning home at the top of the bluff.

I honestly can not think of one negative thing to say about CB.

Last but not least - the people of Curtain Bluff. Starting with Rob and his family(the manager) down to all the staff we interacted with daily - what a team! They really made us feel at home. We had one of the best weeks we have ever had at a resort. Thanks Curtain Bluff !

We found paradise at Curtin Bluff. Our Jr. Suite was spacious, comfortable, nicely furnished, well maintained, and spotless. The bathroom is the size of a boutique hotel's sleeping area. Our patio was on the beach and a few steps from the water.
The grounds have beautiful lush plantings that create a garden environment. The beach is never crowded and there is a selection of chairs at all times, most with hugh wooden umbrellas for shade.

The quality of meals ws equal to a top New York restaurant., a remarkable achievement for an all inclusive resort.
The friendly but quiet atmoshpere is condusive to complete relaxation. The owners are always around with a friendly hello.
At Curtin Bluff the only needs not meet are those that are not verbalized.

We travel frequently and stay at 5 star hotels. Curtin Bluff met all of our expectations and belongs in the elite group of top hotels.
