Kayova River Lodge
Reviewed 26 August 2014 via mobile

We decided to stay at Kayova River Lodge for 4 days and we loved it. The staff was friendly and the food was very nice. We ate definitely the best pizza in the whole Kavango region and were amazed by the Apple crumble we tried :)

Over and above every room has a nice deck with a beautiful view (towards the Okavango river) and also a pool for everyone to freshen up.

I asked for a boat trip on our first day at the lodge and immediately fell in love with the scenery and the wildlife (hippos, crocodiles, elephants, birds....).

Since the Lodge is part of a community upliftment project, we were happy that our money was well spent and is actually helping the local people with these projects (I can't remember all of them but they built some kindergartens and an orphanage for instance).

We will come back again and can highly recommend kayova river Lodge!

This beautiful lodge is located right on the river that separaties Namibia from Uganda. Here Caprivi Region starts. The view from the lodge is extremely beautiful. The best thing you can do is to book a river trip. The lodge provides a private boat. You will see a phantastic landscape and quite some Hippo's and Crocs. Sunset here is unforgettable.

From the Thursday to Sunday we stayed at Kayova river Lodge. Allthough they had a wedding party held at the lodge for i think +- 60 people, the staff still made us feel like we were the only guests in the Restaurant! That was brilliant!!

Our room has got the most brilliant view of the green garden and river.

I could stay there every weekend!

Most recommended!!!

Room Tip: First room from the Lodge (Room 8)

A lovely friendly lodge right on the banks of the Okavango River. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by friendly and attentive staff - all employed from the local community - who were helpful and interested in making sure our needs were met. The lodge is in a lovely setting overlooking the river, very tranquil and peaceful.

The best part was sitting on the deck outside our bedroom, watching the different bird species in the trees. There are apparently over 450 bird species in the region. The room was cozy and comfortable, with aircon and ensuite shower. The meals were tasty and well cooked.

We experienced the real Africa while we were there, including a game viewing boat trip on the river to find hippo and crocodile, fishing for tiger fish, exploring the local communities and meeting the amazing Kavango people, viewing the amazing varieties of birds around the river, and taking hundreds of photographs.

But the river was the highlight - we could have sat there for hours, watching the sun go down as the river flowed past us. A great place for bird watchers, fishermen and photographers. We'll definitely stay here again on our next Caprivi to Etosha road trip!
