“A little gem hidden away if you're prepared to drive there!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2013

Robert's Cove is a gem on a warm summer's evening. It doesn't quite have the same attraction for me as when the walk up to the summit of the cliffs was closed off....it was a great way to start your meal by walking up there with the prospect of a good feed afterwards. The Inn itself has retained the kind of charm that has been long lost in many City center pubs. The proprieter may come across as stand-offish but he warms around and I have the deepest of respect for keeping the Robert's Cove Inn going all these years. The food is very simple bar food and I recommend sea food chowder followd by steak. If you stick to these two dishes there will be no dissapointment. Don't expect anything too fanciful however or you'll be dissapointed. People should consider that this restaurant is well off the beaten track and it can't be easy to cater when you don't know how many guests are expected - for that reason I can easily forgive the basic menu. Overall I still think it's a gem and in particular I bring "foreign" visitors to this restaurant so they can experience how pubs were in the past - including the tempermental owner!

Food here is average fare for pub grub. No prizes for it and nothing memorable to recommend really. We were a little early for kitchen so hung around until open and then ordering was slow and the wait for food very long. There seemed to be a privat party in back which may expalin delay but not good enough. The chap who runs it is not very helpful to say the least, so dont even botehr to complain. Go to kinsale. We will not go back.

We just stopped by for Lunch after a stroll along the beautiful coastline nearby.
The food was excellent with great value and this cosy small place feels just like a hobits livingroom. Also the service was quick, warm and friendly. We loved it!

Lived in the area for years , now live in US
But go back 2,3 times a year . Food is ok, attitude from owner is carefree and By that i mean non caring, almost like its our privilege to eat there and not something he outta appreciate. Only go there because living in Minane Bridge there's not much around.
Wait a few years and yer man might need to change his approach to customers if he wants to keep them.

it was a great experience to eat in a place that I had heard much about, the roberts cove inn, the food was delicious especially the pork steak, my partner had grilled salmon and she enjoyed it also. The location was worth the trip in itself, only it was necessary to share it as it was a weekend.
The only criticism I would have is that I found people drinking at the counter but I suppose that may be accepted in that part of ireland
top marks for the food, location and service, but the fact that there were other people also present was a pity, maybe reagrove is better as I heard they might say in irish, it was a great day and the next time we hope to bring the kids

Room Tip: ask for the view on the beach nice to wake up to the sun and seagulls

Went to Roberts Cove Inn for the very first time today for Sunday Lunch and we dined in the restaurent. The lunch was a set menu for 22.50 each. There were 6 of us and really we could not fault the food as it was all very tasty and the service was very good and friendly. From what I could see, the bar part which is separate seemed to be very cosy with a fire lighting and was to the front where you had a sea view and that was a lovely part to eat. If I was to return, it's the bar I would choose to eat in and not the current restaurent the way it is.

However, the restaurent part also had a fire lighting but it is jaded in decor and where we dined the large window with a view that I was facing could do with a cleaning and the table seemed grubby and had no table mats and could do with a nice clean pristine table cloth and the upholstery on the chairs were very stained so it does need TLC and updating to meet today's standards as there is no excuse for having grubby upholstery, etc . The toilets upstairs too were dated, no heating (seemed very cold ) and again need complete refurbishment. However, the location is just so lovely and the Inn has great potential with improvements needed to the interior and an eye to detail, it could be great.
