“Wedding Weekend”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

We had a family wedding here on Saturday 5th July. From the moment we all arrived at the hotel it was a fantastic experience. The check in was fast and very efficient . We sat down to dinner at 6pm approx ,150 people, and were greeted by very polite staff who could not do enough to make our day one to remember. After orders were taken ,starters were served promptly . The main course serving was one to remember . As I was at the top table with ten other people there was a procession of eleven staff members who served us all at exactly the same time ,quite impressive. The food , all of it starters, mains and dessert ,was of the highest standard . The service was also excellent especially Niamh who served us was very pleasant and professional.
A lot of the wedding party stayed on for a surprise party the next day and again the food was excellent.
The rooms are very comfortable and breakfast very substantial .
All in all a weekend to remember.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor looking over the golf course

As you drive up to the hotel it is an attractive modern take on georgian. The initial impression is very positive. The grounds are extensive, the conference rooms and banqueting area are large and quite opulent. However we ventured into the bar area for a coffee and it was clear that the room required a complete update, the furniture was worn and torn and in need of a clean in some cases, the area looked tired and in need of a face lift. We didn't see the bedrooms as we were there for a business meeting. There is a definite discepancy between this bar area and the standard that the hotel aspires to.

Houses are very spacious & clean and great for a weekend away with friends. We had 2 twin rooms, double room with en suite and a single room. There are 3 bathrooms including ensuite and a very spacious open plan kitchen/living room area.

You have the freedom to do your own thing and the hotel is only in short walking distance If you want to use the leisure & spa facilities or get a meal.
Hotel staff friendly!

The houses say all you need to know about Ireland's building boom. Thrown up to cash in.
The one we had was in a very poor state.
So my advice - check the house is okay before travelling.
The hotel is fine. Average and expensive food and average beer as you'd expect in any hotel.
Go into tullow or Carlow for decent pints and good grub.
The playground could do with being updated.
Watch out for being charged a flat rate for your fuel/electricity - not a meter as promised.
I'd have to say I'd happily stay at the hotel, but would give the houses a miss.

We hired a house in Mount Wolseley in early June and I can't fault the accomadation. The house we were given was right opposite the lovely playground. The house is very spacious and is well stocked, the furnishings were of a very good spec and i'm surprised they have such nice cabinets etc in a holiday home. There was plenty of room for the kids and it was only a five minute walk up to the hotel where we could use the leisure facilities or the kids rooms. We found all the staff to be a very nice and helpful.
On the downside the tv which was provided was an old style tv which looked out of place with all the modern furnishings. Our freeview and saorview boxes didn't work properly when we arrived but the issue was sorted within a couple of days. The keycard provided to gain access to the holiday homes was a bit unpredictable. Sometimes it worked the first time, other times it took ten swipes to open the electric gate.
All in all we would highly recommend these homes and we would return to the holiday homes or hotel again.

Room Tip: The spa have a special on during midweek. We would highly recommend a treatment for the €49 price. Y...

I visited Wolseley for a meal at the bar and got really surprised with service and food. Top quality. The place is really beautiful and cosy. Tullow is not far from Carlow and Mount Wolseley is a great break. I haven't stayed in the hotel, but now I'm really considering spending a night there. The meat I had was the best I've had in Ireland. Nice treat!
