Just a few words about our big day.

Mount Wolseley was the first place we went to look at for our wedding venue which we both liked instantly and didn't take us long to decide we wanted to have our reception there.

We met Catherine on our second visit to mount wolseley where she went through everything in detail and answered every one of our questions leaving us feel comfortable with leaving things in her hands, every time I emailed with a question little or big she would get back to me asap and put us both at ease!!

Despite it being a large hotel we loved the privacy provided by the hotel, allowing us to have an entrance for us and our guests and the use of the Morrissey bar, all the staff of which were so pleasant and helpful.

We loved the gardens where we were able to have our photographs taken and were looked after very well by Bala on the day who was there to assist us with anything we needed. Everything from the welcome drinks and canapés, the room where we had our meal to the food was amazing. we will definitely remember our wedding meal for years to come, the food was unreal.

Our day was so fantastic and was everything we could have hoped for all helped by the brilliant staff.
I would recommend Mount Wolseley without a doubt to anyone who asked me about it and look forward to staying in it again some time soon!!

Had a nice weekend in Mount Wolseley (which had been in examinership - a kind of bankruptcy protection - for a week or two). We had two interconnecting rooms, which was just perfect. There were two doors in series in the wall - I expect this makes for much better sound insulation when the two rooms are not being used interconnected.

For the overall rating of this property, I am ignoring the fact that we were given a not-quite-clean scribbled-on travel-cot that we neither needed nor used. Please - clean it or bin it, or splash out on some real wipeable timber cots. I expect many Irish guests at least own their own travel cot which they would prefer to bring and use rather than what we were offered.

One other maintenance point was that "Hello" was scratched into one of the interconnecting doors. This might not have been noticed when the rooms were being used separately. Again, I'm ignoring it for the overall rating.

Breakfast buffet was ok - in fact it was pretty good. The guests did seem to overwhelm the toasting capacity quite often - that was the only part where you had to wait - maybe one more toaster might help at peak times.
Apart from the buffet, porridge could be ordered and it was good.

Tea was poor on Sunday morning unless you got a teapot to your table. The tea from the flasks was waaaay too weak.

We dined in Aaron's lounge on Friday evening and found it ok for the adults, but the children's meals were just mediocre.

We ate in the main hotel restaurant on the Saturday night and I'm told that the steak was excellent. I had the cod and found it to be dry and a little tasteless, although everything was beautifully presented to the eye. Service was a bit slow, but I have to mention the staff here. The local staff were lovely and extremely attentive at all times. I found some of the non-locals, while efficient and snappy, a little "glic" at times, and not really as genuinely helpful as you would like, as well as being a little loud, rushing and intrusive at the table.

We were on the third floor under the mansard roof with a single window in each room. While the curtain was blackout material, it was impossible to make it fill the opening and block out the bright morning light. This disturbed us both mornings and was a pity as it could be easily fixed.

A lovely trip from Mount Wolseley is to the nearby Altamont Gardens (along with a sadly derelict house). Entry is mostly free at the moment.

We recently spent 4 nights over easter weekend in the holiday lodges at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was excellent value and kids really enjoyed the playground on the lodges' grounds. The lodges are very spacious and well fitted out and the beds very comfortable. They are warm houses and well furnished and the kitchen very well catered for if you choose to cook which we didn't. My only fault of the lodges is that there is no garden furniture to enjoy dining outside when weather is good. There was no noise from adjoining houses and feels very much in the country.

We dined in the hotel restaurant and the food and service was excellent. The children went for the high tea and movie night option and had a ball and food options were very good. It was excellent value.

The leisure centre is nice but would need a facelift and the glass screens around the kiddy pool would need a good clean. There were many inflateable toys for kids to play with out from 1pm to 2pm but put away right away afterwards which I didn't understand given that there was no lifeguard on duty in any event and all children were supervised by the parents. No amount of persuasion of staff could persuade them to allow them stay out longer. They are also not out on a sunday.

I was assisted by Magda who was most helpful and catered to my every need and I couldn't recommend her highly enough.

Also there is an excellent indian restaurant/takeaway in the nearby town of Tullow which is owned and run by a chef who ran a well known indian restaurant in Dublin. We had a takeaway one evening and the food was really lovely and very generous portions. It suited us one evening when the children were too tired to go up and dine in the hotel.

Our family of 5 enjoyed our weekend stay. The staff are one of the best assets of the hotel, we found the reception, restaurant and leisure centre staff to be without fail, pleasant and accommodating.

For kids clubs, kids rooms etc we have definitely stayed in better, so that aspect could be improved.

The quality of the food in the restaurant was consistently high and they were very helpful in helping this family of Coeliacs navigate what we could/couldn't have on the menu and also were very helpful in rustling up gluten-free alternatives where necessary.

We all found the rooms hot at night, and we did get noise from a function room one of the nights, but overall we had a good stay.

A group of us stayed here for one night and it was really enjoyable. We only paid €110 for one night b&b and an evening meal. The hotel is lovely, staff are super friendly and the food was delicious! Didn't make it to the pool or spa but overall a great experience for what we paid and would definitely recommend it!!!

Our family had a pleasant few days. On entering, the grounds are lovely and the building well kept.
Unlike many places visited there were no visible signs of faded furnishings . Reception was pleasant and helpful. The room was well laid out, comfortable and well equipped though the mattresses seemed under par.

Good bar food and a commendable children's menu with a verity of original as well as classics, my son really liked the meatballs ordering them daily. Their 'flatbread', is more like a pizza irish style, e.g. yellow cheddar instead of mozzarella ordered and enjoyed by my sister. The breakfasts offered plenty of choice, including fresh melon daily which was a nice treat. The breakfast is open till 11:00 so there is no rush. The last day the kids were able to get a swim in before breakfast.

There were plenty of children around when we were there and facilities for them though an adult is expected to remain present . At the pool they queried the age of my son. Children under 11 must have someone in the pool with them not just at the side of the pool.

The spa was of a good standard, though the selection of treatments were limited over Easter.
