“Beautiful part of Crete”
Reviewed 30 May 2012

We stayed for 3 days at the very end of April. This is such a beautiful area and the apartment was excellent. It was very clean and we had a sea view from the balcony. There was only one electric ring plus a tiny one for a coffee pot so there's not much scope for cooking but you can get a lovely breakfast at the pool bar and there is an excellent taverna nearby. Unfortunately the pool didn't open until later, in May, so we can't give it a score, but the pool area looks lovely. There is also a play area for children and lots of open space and gardens. The flowers looked and smelt wonderful. We were close to the beach ( a bit too cold for us to swim in the sea, but there were some people who did). Lydia made us very welcome and we really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in Frangokastello for a night during our explorations of Southern Crete. It was a great place to stay. Antonis is a great host and will help you out in any way possible. The pool area is great and you are a short walk across the road from the water or a wonderful tavern on the sea for dinner. Be sure to enjoy their breakfast the following morning as well. A relaxing place to stay.

Having read the positive reviews on this site, I decided to stay there with my wife and 18 mo. daughter for one night during June 2011. As mentioned by other reviewers, the studios are modern, clean and well-equipped. The owners and staff were very friendly and Mrs Lydia promptly attended to all our requests. Would definitely stay there again.

We were with Antonis Konstantinidis fpr 10 days in July and it was the highlight of our honeymoon. A most wonderful located compound, very close to the sea, very close to a number of very good restaurants. One of the disadvantages is - as everywhere in Crete, one cannot have full breakfast or a meal, has to go out. However, we had coffeee and small snacks. The rooms are outstandigly good, spacy and very clean. The pool is rather big and also perfectly clean. Most important for us what that there were very few people, it was quiet, the ideal break for a couple under business stress and looking for some good rest.

Very good choice and value for money. Fragokastello is very calm place and recommended for those that want to relax. I had seen Kallicrates Village hotel from the internet and i found it very nice. Very close to the sea (30m) but the best beach of Fragokastello (psilli ammos) is a little further around 500m. Rooms were very clean and the owners are trying their very best to make your staying even better. We faced no problem at all and we found this place very clean and tidy compared with some others that we show around. We firmly suggest this choice to other travelers.

We stayed here in Sept 08 after reading reviews on the site. We wanted somewhere quiet and not too pricey, and Kallicrates fitted the bill completely.

It did take a couple of hours by hire car to arrive from the airport, and the journey is absolutely worth it !

The studios are excellent. - modern, very clean, well equiped and spacious. We particularly loved the view from the balcony - mountains one way, the sea the other way. A great way to start the day over breakfast.

The pool and snack area is delightful. Small but extremely well maintained and provides a lovely place to relax ... decent sunbeds and comfy chairs all go to show the attention the owners have given to the place.

There are some lovely places to eat in the evening and a couple of well stocked supermarkets very close by.

The whole place had an ambience of calm; you knew people were around if you needed anything but you were left to relax and unwind. I would definitely recommend Kallicrates to those that are happy to get away from the main tourist areas, like exploring, and want a high standard of studio accommodation without lots of fuss.
