“Great Hotel Excellent Staff.”
Reviewed 18 December 2013

I have been visiting the Waldeck for about 15 years and have never had a bad experience, the staff are friendly food great rooms very clean and comfortable all makes for a great stay. Brigitte and her staff are very helpful even down to cleaning a guests jacket that was covered in mud (no charge) we will continue to visit, and is the best in the Rhine/Mosel area by far.

Room Tip: All rooms are good but there are some themed and family rooms that are great.

As one of a large group ( 90 - two coaches) It was a most enjoyable stay for the three nights stay.
On arrival the booking in went as smooth as possible bearing in mind the sudden arrival of so many even though the trip had been so well organised in advance. That evening a three course buffet meal was enjoyable in pleasant surroundings of the resturant.
Our rooms were very good light and airy, pleanty of room with en suite and balcony. Towels, security safe, and plenty of storage space. Only mirror was in the en suite so a larger (dressing) mirror would have been handy but this did not detract from the stay. Our room was located on third floor toward rear of building but was not inconvenient re access although no lift may be a disadvantage to more elderly visitors.
Large selection of various food choices at breakfasts. Staff very friendly and efficient in coping with large number of residents.
Proprietor was present and helpfull despite language barrier. All in all avery pleasant stay and is deffinately a place to return to should we be in that area again. To be reccomended.

I am finding this hard to review but here goes, we went on a Rhine in Flames weekend with Leger coaches, after arriving late,in the evening we were shown to the room which we had been allocated and as always we checked the cleanliness of the duvet and I can only described it as filthy,to their credit they changed it immediately and also let us choose our
own room but the cleanliness of the bed linen in my opinion is a must in any hotel, the owners are really nice and friendly but I feel that does not make up for the lack of basic hygiene, I agree with others who state the area is outstandingly beautiful and should be seen to be believed.Breakfast was nice but choice fairly limited in my opinion but my partner thought the choice was fine.

Two friends and I stayed a few days in this hotel, and all I can say is that it was superb. (price/quality)
Brigitte and her staff did everything to satisfy all visitors. We were bikers, but there was also a bus of elderly englisch people, so anyone is welcome there.
We had a nice clean little room (single use) - food was included in the price and very good, breakfast was simpel but good.
Staff was very friendly and tried even to speak Dutch, because we are from Belgium. Also Englisch was no problem.
I recommended this hotel also on the Suzuki V Strom Forum site, in order to let other bikers enjoy this hotel.

Only negative point : Some elderly englisch people from the bus did not understand that in the early morning, (06.30 am) it is not the right time to talk loud in the corridors and outside. Other people want to sleep. But the staff can not help this, of course.

If I return to that region, I choose certainly this hotel again.

I have been organising group holidays for some ten years now and Hotel Waldeck must be the finest hotel for groups in the Moselle/Rhine region. Let me list all its great features; Excellently furnished, great food, english speaking friendly staff, beautifully peaceful location with no road noise, no church bells or railways nearby. I have lost count of the many delighted coach travellers I have taken to Hotel Waldeck. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: If you have a special occasion there are delightful 'Honeymoon four poster bed rooms'.

This was the first time we had booked a coach trip and the first time we had gone away for New Year. We booked with Travelsphere to go to the Mosel region in Germany and did not know what hotel we would be staying at until about two weeks before we left. We did not look at reviews on here before we left as we were busy with Christmas.

We were picked up on Dec 30th at 4am in the morning. We went to Dover which was an experience. There were about 25 coaches which had picked people up from all around the UK. They all arrive in Dover where everyone collects their bags and are sent to the coach which will be theirs for the duration of the trip. People were travelling to France, Germany, Luxembourg etc. Once we were on the correct coach for our trip we boarded the P&O boat. Luckily the ferry is less than 2 hours which passes quickly. Once in France we had a 6 hour drive to the hotel in Germany, 7 hours if you take the two stops into account.

We arrived at the hotel at 8pm and ate at 9pm. Check in was a case of our tour guide handing out keys so that was a speedy experience, none of the handing in passports and signing in etc.

This hotel provided set meals in the evening. No choice but to be fair, the food was fine. Nothing fancy and no apple strudel which was a shame. We did not go hungry!

Everyone at the hotel all ate at the same time. The evening meal consisted of soup, followed by a main meal followed by a choc ice (for two evenings) and a self service desert on NYE again this was ok but Germans are not the French when it comes to cooking!

We went on one of the two trips on offer and on the day where we did not go we had a walk around the area which was absolutely dead with nothing open and even it anything were open there is not much there. However, the hotel turns the heating off during the day which was so out of order. They assume that everyone wants to go on the arranged trips. It was so cold we went to bed to keep warm.

The hotel prices are in line with the rest of Europe using the Euro i.e although they did not wear a mask they could have been mistaken for Dick Turpin! 5 Euro for 2 medium hot chocolate drinks. 3.70 Euros for a pint of beer. It is not cheap but not on the mega expensive side either. One tip, take plenty of 'cash' with you as there is no where after you get off the boat to change money and they deal in hard cash. Just imagine having a trip back to the 70's then this is what it is like i.e. decor, no cash machines etc. Saying that, it was just as you imagine, log cabins, German Beer and plenty of laughter with fireworks thrown in on NYE for good measure.

Best of all were the people on our coach. What a scream these oldies are! We had such a laugh and they were all so nice. Thanks to Noel, Liz and Vic for providing the laughs and for everyone else too. I hope we never upset too many of you telling you to get a zimmer on that dance floor!

Cons - geared for people around or over retirement age... Pro's - they have a lot they can teach you!!!

Thank you to everyone including the man who sang for us... Yes he only knew songs from the 50's 60's and 2 from the 70's.... he is retiring now so you may actually get something a bit more modern if you go! He did manage to get the oldies dancing to most songs though which kept them happy and wore them out a treat!

Worth visiting, worth going for New Year too!
