My Trini friend instructed our tour driver to take us to this place for lunch because it was upscale and had an 'infinity' pool at the restaurant and a great view of the sea. All turned out to be true.

We ordered lunch then enjoyed the view of the pool and gorgeous Caribbean sea. We were the only two in the entire lunch then another couple traipsed in then vanished. After lunch we requested the attendant if we could view a villa and were promised by their staff we would. 45 minutes later it did not happen, we telephoned our driver who showed up so we left. Obviously, the inattentiveness has lost them a potential customer.

The only person of any enthusiastic demeanor I encountered over three days was our driver, Wayne! He was kind, informative, patient, accommodating and trusting. The rest sadly, seemed disinterested, inattentive and appeared misplaced in the hospitality industry.

Staying at Stonehaven is extraordinary. The villas are lovely 3 bedroom, 5 bath homes with private pool, daily maid and a terrace overlooking the grounds and the Caribbean in the distance. A gorgeous beach is a short walk down the hill. Whether looking for a terrific spot for a gathering of family or friends or a romantic place for a honeymoon, you can do no better than Stonehaven. It is not only aesthetically amazing, but a great value to boot. Recommend without hesitation.

Room Tip: All of the villas are great.

We have just had 3 nights in the villas and they are very special . Beautifully decorated with everything you need in them. I would recommend getting a food starter pack or doing a grocery shop as the local mini market is very limited. It is a 15 min walk to the beach and The wonderful Fish Pot restaurant but other than that you will need a car or taxi. The gardens are beautiful and there is really no need to leave the villa- would be great value if you had 6 people sharing. The only major disappointment was the restaurant on site which we used once and can't recommend. The service from the staff is fine when needed. In summary beautiful villas - well worth a trip.

We've just got back from 2 weeks in Tobago, one of which was staying at The Villas at Stonehaven.

Firstly the bad bits:

We had asked for a villa that was away from the restaurant to avoid any late night noise, but we ended up with the one closest to it, and we were kept awake one night when they had a private party.

We didn't know they were having a private party, so when we tried to use the restaurant we were unable to, but room service was available. The food was ok.

The walk up is steep, but if you take it slowly it isn't too bad.

We had one day where there was no electricity for most of the day, and it would have been nice to know that this was happening the day before, so we could plan what we were doing around this.

The beds are a bit hard it you are used to something soft at home, I was ok, but my Husband's back did suffer a little bit.

The location is out of the way, so we'd recommend hiring a car if you want to see some of the island - but you can walk to the closest beach.

Now for the good bits:

The Villas are beautiful, spacious, and have amazing views. The furniture is of good quality, and the kitchen is well equipped, including an ice machine in the freezer. The bedrooms are all air conditioned, but the living room and kitchen are not - but this is not really an issue, as the french doors open up most of the living space during the day, and there are ceiling fans.

The Wifi is ok - but outside was where we got the best reception.

The site is pretty secure, and cars are checked in and out, and the terrain would deter most intruders from coming in any other way.

The infinity pool is fantastic - and our lap competition continued to develop during the week - 122 in the end.

Our house-keeper was very good, and you could almost manage for 2 weeks with only hand luggage, as your washing (including towels supplied, both bath, and pool) is done every day. We even got our house-keeper to shop for and prepare lunch for us - which was very nice.

There is a good fish restaurant down the road for lunch or dinner - see my review of The Fish Pot.

Supermarkets are a drive away - with the Penny Saver in Crown Point, and the Gourmet Supermarket (which isn't very gourmet) even closer - but not really walkable.

It really is a perfect place to while away some time in the sunshine, and the privacy of the villas is very relaxing. We've already said that we would go back!

After a very busy year my husband said lets go somewhere "just us" so the hunt was on.

We had thought about Tobago as a destination for a while but had not got around to doing anything about it, but this time it sounded like just the place, but where to stay? We saw the website for the Villas at Stonehaven and thought this place sounds too good to be true, then we looked on tripadvisor and thought "ok"..

Accordingly off we set in hopeful anticipation, would it be anything like the website? i have to say no it wasn't, it far exceeded the website in every way. The house itself was beautiful, with wellmade furniture in every room, on the verandah and by the pool. The kitchen was fully fitted with everything you could need, the infinity pool was just the right depth and the views........well what can i say except that they were tremendous. A bird reserve next door gave us lots of feathered visitors to amuse us. The villas are all sited to give views out to sea without overlooking each other.

Lystra was our maid, who does very good scrambled eggs and bacon..........as well as tidying up etc, she was very friendly and helpful

like other reviewers we did not really want to go far from the villa, but we did go on two trips, both provided by Hans Philips, one was his round the island day trip, which included lunch at Gemmas tree house, this is a real must and the other a half day trip out to the reef and the Nylon Pool. The day trip was shared with an American couple and their grown up son who of course are not used to being driven on the correct side of the road!

You do not really need to hire a car, the local taxis are very good value, we used Ram to take us shopping etc and both Ram and Hans told us a lot about Tobago which you would never find out if you were driving yourself.

Room service is provided by the Pavilion, the onsite restaurent, they deliver by car, bring the food in and take the appropriate plates, dishes etc back to the restaurent from your kitchen and you keep the ones they have brought the food on, very civilised.

The only down side if you do not have a car is the steepness of the drive up to the villas, unless you are very fit I would sugggest requesting a villa lower down!!!!

As the management said they are working on the internet access but to be honest in some ways perhaps it is better as it is.

We had Villa 12, Villa 9 is right at the top with spectacular views and the garden is used for wedding photographs.

Would i recommend a stay here? yes but only if you do not go at the same time as us in case you get the villa we want............

oh yes the famous Sunday School? well we had to have an excuse to go back so that will be next time

"Oh my God" i don't know where to start, it was the very 1st time my husband and i ever been to Tobago since we are adults it was just once or twice when we were little and the 1st time we left Trinidad. This was for our Honeymoon which was in September, we had a lovely special.Just driving up the hill to the reception area was bliss full, what a wonderful view from the restaurant, the staff was very nice, from checking in, then to the bar,the rum punch was the bomb, oh and our flying bartender he was so sweet although he was drinking more than us, and drinking big to ehh 'hennessy-straight', that bird just added to the villas welcomeness. Driving further up to our Villa num:8 THE RAVEN WAS BREATHTAKING coming out of our car and the sweet breeze that greeted us made us both stretched out and received it, that felt best.Entering the villa made us both feel like royalty ,the pool was to die for, the garden surrounded the villa was fabulous, our outside guests the birds were great ,they even posed for a few pictures. As the day cooled into the night,my my my the sunset was BREATH........TAKING AWAY, it made a perfect ended evening each day that we was there. the bedrooms, the kitchen, the balconies from both bedrooms upstairs wonderful view, the bathrooms they were all well kept, every part of that villa was up to mark(i wish my house could be like it).Our housekeeper was so kind and friendly she did a great job with our stuff, our chef who cooked for us (felt like taking you home with us)was best.I WOULD RECOMMEND THE VILLAS AT STONEHAVEN to anyone and of course we will be back to this Fabulous place we called home away from home.

Room Tip: The Villas itself is Breathtaking you will sure to forget your worries and just relax.

We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Stonehaven Villas. It was our 5th time there, but this time was special, as we had a group of friends coming over from another country to celebrate a special birthday. We rented two villas for the whole group to stay in.
The villas are beautiful and the fact that they have a private swimming pool with a view of the sea makes them very special. The verandah is my favourite part of the villas, there is enough room for different groups of people to be doing different things at the same time and it doesn't matter if it rains, as you can be there in any kind of weather.
We love the fact that a chef can come and prepare your meals at the villas. The meal price is excellent (U$50 plus ingredients) and Michelle, the chef, is a lovely person and prepares delicious meals, taking into consideration all your requirements. You just sit in your verandah, enjoy a drink with your friends or play a board game (included in the villa) with your kids and she gets the whole meal ready for you. Beter than any restaurant, in my opinion.
We always stay in the Tanager villa because we love our attendant, Rachel. She keeps the villa in an excellent condition and is very quick to solve any problem that arises. She is great with kids and our daughter looks forward to getting to Stonehaven just to sit with her and talk about dolls and teddy bears. However, my friends stayed in another villa, and the standard of service was not as good, as, for example, some of the beds were not made on one of the days, and their shampoo and soap were not replaced. They were not big problems that would spoil your holiday in any way, but I would still like to make the point that service could vary and I am basing my review mainly on the Tanager villa.
Internet connection is still a problem, we didn't have access to it in the villa at any point, and we had to go to reception to use it. I have heard, however, that they are in the process of improving this situation.
We usually rent a car but this time we were too many people for that, and we asked the villas to provide that service. They sent us a driver called Ram who picked us up from the airport and then took us to different beaches and places we wanted to see on the island. He was punctual, friendly, and extremely patient with us, and I can recommend him wholeheartedly.
Another recommendation I would make is to double-check the arrangements you make if you are planning an event. We had made some arrangements for a birthday dinner celebration and I got very stressed to arrive to the restaurant and find out that it had been forgotten. However, the restaurant staff were extremely efficient and they managed to make last minute arrangements to solve every problem and fulfil my requests. I don't think my guests would ever have noticed the problem if I had not told them, because in the end everything arrived on time and just like we expected it.
My advice is: don't let minor details stop you from enjoying this wonderful place. Having stayed in other places of a similar category/price level on previous trips to the island, I believe this is the best accommodation available in Tobago.

Room Tip: We love the housekeeper in Villa 8, she is very efficient, very kind, and our daughter always looks...
