'Wow!' we chorussed as we stepped in to our villa at Stonehaven in Tobago. At almost 3000 square feet, this is one of the grandest and most carefully-designed houses we have ever rented. There were three bedrooms all with spacious bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen including blender and Maytag washing machine but the real draw was the huge verandah complete with fans dining table and deep sofas. Each villa has its own infinity pool. Ours (5) had views of the sea and a wonderful sense of privacy. Waking up early each morning to the sound of Tobago's abundant birdlife and having a quiet breakfast on the terrace as the sun rose was a treat we will never forget. The island itself is wonderfully unspoilt - snorkelling, a trip to the rainforest or the annual goat racing event are to be recommended!

Room Tip: Ask for a house overlooking the sea.

It was an absolute pleasure having you stay with us and we are thrilled you enjoyed our spectacular villas so much! It is true there is much to do in Tobago, even goat racing, and great that you enjoyed the activities and fun things our beautiful island has to offer.

I have stayed at some nice places but this place is absolutely fabulous. There are a number of Villas on this gated community and they are all very well designed with outstanding landscaped gardens. Each Villa as its own infinity pool to cool off during the heat of the day. All bedrooms are air conditioned, with a large well equipped kitchen. There is a superb covered veranda with ceiling fans to keep you cool and the a open patio area where the pool is, all this has uninterrupted views over the sea.The clubhouse and restaurant are excellent and has a large infinity pool, the views again are fabulous and a nice place to sit with a cool beer and watch the sun go down. The daily maid service ensures the villa is kept immaculate. A golf course is only a five minute drive away and the beach a stones throw away. If you want to see the island you need to hire a car or use Taxi's, I was more than happy to just chill around the villa and relax, read a few books and soak up the sun, the cooling breeze helps. If you want a luxury Villa holiday , this is the place, you will not be disappointed.

Thanks so much for your review, we are very pleased you enjoyed your family holiday with us this year, and enjoyed some downtime in your private villa! It is true that hiring a car is a great idea to take advantage of the independence that a villa holiday gives you and a great way to explore the island when you can tear yourself away from the poolside! We hope to welcome you and your family back soon.

Sharon at the Boathouse recommended we stop here on our island drive one day last trip, and thank God we did! What a great placed! Awesome view from the infinity pool - which was SOOO refreshing - lunch was very very good and very reasonable. The restaurant and pool are set in gorgeous surroundings, I checked on the price of staying there and yeah, too rich for our blood, but so great to be able to "do lunch and a swim" with a view.... Would recommend this place for an afternoon outing with friends, girlfriends, or just two of you!

This is admittedly quite a delayed response, but I just realized I never left a review for this fantastic property. We chose Stonehaven Villas for our 2008 wedding ceremony and reception and had a WONDERFUL experience. We are based in the U.S. so much of our planning was done via internet research and email - we actually found Stonehaven via TripAdvisor, and we were pleasantly surprised to find it was exactly as described in the reviews. Some complain about lack of high-level service or an unpleasant demeanor among service staff - but I think that is prevalent all over the Caribbean, especially Tobago. The staff at Stonehaven certainly bucked that trend - at least for us. We loved our house helper - she was so sweet and did a great job. The villas are airy and gorgeous, the beds and linens comfortable and clean, and the private infinity pool a major bonus. The wedding itself was awesome - they delivered on everything as promised in terms of the food (fantastic!), the decor, and the little details.

Our group essentially took over the entire property in the week prior to the wedding and everyone had a fantastic time. I should add, our guests came from all over the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean - and many are seasoned travelers with high expectations. I didn't hear a single negative comment from the group.

We are looking forward to going back again - hopefully soon!

Room Tip: Chose villas 1-5, or 14 if you want to be close to the main building and restaurant. The others are...

The Villas at Stonehaven are beautiful, they are 5* with infinity pool, lush green gardens, immaculate interiors and sea views, they are absolute pure luxury. At the time of writing there are over 80 photographs that reflect the villas very accurately, the reviews are overwhelmingly positive and there is even a video!... So its my job to give you some insider tips, little things to make your stay at the Villas even more exciting.

If you are here doing research on the Villas at Stonehaven because you are making a special trip for a special occasion, maybe you want to be sure before you commit Villas at Stonehaven prices what I can tell you is that I stayed here for over a week and your investment will be money well spent. The photograhs show you how gorgeous it is and a number of very famous jazz singers and rock stars have stayed here.

Our plasma TV had hundreds of channels but it wasn't easy to wprk out how to use the remote control (don't laugh!). A quick call to reception and it was sorted. Villa 15 didn't come with a manual so don't be afraid to ask.

Villas come with a maid. This might be strange for a lot of people (it was for us) but it's part of the package so don't be afraid to let it add to your holiday. The maid will buy food for you, prepare fish or vegetables, if you leave your washing in the basket under the sink it will be taken care of. Word of warning though... it gets VERY hot in Tobago and there is a small room just off the kitchen that your maid may take a nap in!!!!!! This caught everyone by surprise :)

The clubhouse is gorgeous and the food is fantastic. People visit the clubhouse restaurant for their night out (we got taking to local doctors and psycologists) so its worth a try if you don't feel like cooking one night. If you visit during the day for a cocktail and a swim you will see many colourful birds because the local bird sanctuary is located behind the Stonehaven Villas. Don't bother trying to drive up the road to reach it because a car will only get 1/3 of the way up the hill until the road runs out!

Villas come with a huge gas BBQ. If you want to cook fresh fish straight from the sea visit any of the small coves surrounding the villas between 4pm-5pm and you can buy them straight from the fishermen. Its worth walking up and down the different beaches because they seem to catch different fish.

If you need to stock up on groceries the main store is Penny Savers that can be reached by car from Stonehaven Villas. If you just need essential items there are two a small shops that can be reached on foot, both 5-8 minutes walk by turning either left or right from the exit of the Villas complex. Good are inexpensive and locals are very friendly and helpful. You will also find fruit stalls on the roadside within easy walk of the Villas.

Don't worry about bugs either. We were bitten a couple of times on the beach but apart from some little outside wall lizzards we didn't see or feel a single nasty in the Villa itself.

If you are looking for a beautiful restaurant, close enough to walk from the Villas with fantastic food/service and lit by fairy lights in the trees then I recommend the Seahorse - http://www.seahorseinntobago.com/.

If you are lucky enough to visit the island over a Sunday evening then the best night out I have had on any holiday was Tobago Sunday School!!! A short taxi from the Villas, Sunday School has steel pan music all night until the local DJs takeover, local food, drinks, art and shopping from stalls that line the streets and by the sea which is beautiful at night. A carnival, street party atmosphere that has to be seen to be appreciated.

It only takes 1h to drive around Tobago island. Its breathtaking - white sandy beaches and striking rainforrest. We did a LOT of research before we hired our car and I can recommend Sheppey. Sheppeys car rental is the best on the island. You can trust him, he gave us fantastic service. He went above and beyond for us and he is used by most of the local dive centres: http://www.tobagocarrental.com/

I can recommend the Villas at Stonehaven. They were good enough for Mick Jagger and they were fantastic for us.

Room Tip: Villa 15 at the bottom of the hill meant we didnt have to walk up and up in the blazing sun, however...

Our 7 night Stay at Stonehaven was just what we needed . We arrived on the 20th of December for a family wedding blessing, and as soon as we arrived the peaceful, relaxed energy started to erase the city stress that we'd carried with us. As others have said the villas are of a good standard, spacious and very comfortable and the views from ours were stunning....actually the views from anywhere in the resort are beautiful. As the villas are self catering, it is useful to do some grocery shopping for basics , but you can ordrer from the restaurant where there's a delicious array of food available ( try the cheeseburger and the Bar B Q chicken wings....really really good!) Speaking of food, the catering for the wedding was very good, so compliments to chef Michelle and her team. The staffing team lead by Denise were wonderful, and made our stay a pleasure, so thanks to Tamika, Issa , Paul and Earla. So the question is, would we, well travelled, hard to please luxury lovers stay at Stonehaven again ? Yes

Room Tip: Ask for a villa with a great view.

My Trini friend instructed our tour driver to take us to this place for lunch because it was upscale and had an 'infinity' pool at the restaurant and a great view of the sea. All turned out to be true.

We ordered lunch then enjoyed the view of the pool and gorgeous Caribbean sea. We were the only two in the entire lunch then another couple traipsed in then vanished. After lunch we requested the attendant if we could view a villa and were promised by their staff we would. 45 minutes later it did not happen, we telephoned our driver who showed up so we left. Obviously, the inattentiveness has lost them a potential customer.

The only person of any enthusiastic demeanor I encountered over three days was our driver, Wayne! He was kind, informative, patient, accommodating and trusting. The rest sadly, seemed disinterested, inattentive and appeared misplaced in the hospitality industry.
