Just arrived back home after spending two weeks at Lillibets. I can attest the reviews here are accurate. The place has four apartments, two on the top level and two on the bottom. All four have a huge front deck overlooking Castara Bay. The views are awesome!
The highlight of our whole two weeks was spending hours and hours relaxing on the deck looking out into the bay.
The second level apartment we stayed in had DirecTV satellite TV, which was a pleasant surprise. The two apartments on the bottom have air conditioning in the bedrooms. We stayed on the top floor as I think it had a better view. The Wi-Fi internet worked flawlessly and allowed us to periodically check in with family. No need to bring your buns of steel DVD with you as you will get great exercise walking up the 50 or so inclined steps from the parking to the apartments.
Lillibets has most of the basic cooking items that one might need. A small microwave would be a nice addition. The fridge and freezer kept everything cold and frozen. The furniture while basic was clean and functional. We placed the wicker love seat with cushions onto the deck as that's where we spent the majority of the time.
The only area that would need some work is the bathrooms. For the shower, there is only a drain in the corner of the room. The floor did not drain fully, but water largely pooled around the toilet. A squeegee was provided to move the water, but was largely ineffective. After a shower, we covered the drain with a plastic bag as it would emanate a sewer smell if left open.
We regularly shopped at Bingy's at the top of the driveway to the main road. His lovely wife Hazel makes bread and Roti to order all very good!
The beach bar is great. We rented loungers most days for $20TT per day (about $3 USD). Try the rum punch, it's great. On the beach there are 2-3 dogs who hung-out on the beach. They were very friendly and loved pats and ear rubs! One of the smaller dogs (like a jack russell cross) almost adopted us and would hangout and walk back to the apartment with us. Some days we would not see much of her and suddenly she would arrive on our deck at 10 PM to say hello. If you see a jack russell cross, give her a pat and a hug and tell her we miss her. We asked the folks at the beach bar about the dogs thinking they were homeless. Generally, this was not the case as most had owners and homes a short distance away and were well cared for.
Overall, a great holiday at Lillibets and the people of Castara were warm and friendly. I'm still in awe of the view from the deck.
