Stayed at the main manor in a Zen deluxe room for a night in June 2013. The room was beautiful, quiet and quite spacious - even when we had an extra (sofa)bed in the room it didn't feel cramped at all. The bathroom was equipped with a one-person jacuzzi.

The restaurant was excellent and so was the spa where they were able to accommodate me on a super short notice. The treatments was reasonably priced as well, I paid 33 eur for a 60 min facial.

We made a day trip to the two manors nearby (Sagadi and Palmse) - both were beautiful, and especially the 4yo lady travelling with us found them fascinating :)

It takes exactly 1 hours driving during summer period (110km/h on highway) from Tallinn centre to Vihula Manor. During other seasons it will take you around 1,5.

Had a mixed business / leisure trip and stayed there for 4 days. Slept in 3 different rooms: No6 Zen (BackManor), No46 Zen Deluxe (MainManor) and Zen (?)(DistilleryHouse).
Staff is professional! Exceptions are morning shifts during summer of freshmen that may not know certain things, but don't let that stop you in telling your wishes - those will be fulfilled.

Rooms I stayed at are very different in style, so you might specify what kind of room would you like, eg. big windows or small, etc. All rooms were in excellent good conditions.

Restaurant is excellent as well: chef Toomas has done a great job. Staff at restaurant is also 5+. Wine list is a bit limited, but they are working on new one at this very moment. This is not a Michelin starred fine dining restaurant, but it should not be really and they do much better job at Vihula than most of arrogant restaurants in Estonia, while for a decent price.

If you have never seen a sunset/sunrise in the sea - this is the place to see it, especially in summer. It only takes about 5 minutes by car from Vihula to the sandy beach, and of course waking up at 3:30 in summer to catch sunrise at 4:00. Swimming is, however, quite difficult due to the rocks everywhere - see photo.

Newly built swimming pool is simple but excellent. SPA center I have not been to so can not comment, but a friend of mine was very happy.

Entire area around is a paradise for families with children - they have lots of places to see and play. Basically you can stay there for 3 full days doing something all the time without leaving the premises. There is also a live performances on regular basis, so check the agenda. Once again: tell them all your needs and they will find a solution for you.

I often being my foreign guests all year round to this hotel. It is always nice to share a piece of "modern" history. Location is perfect! The facilities are well appointed and the staff is polite. Take time to walk the grounds and explore the area.

We had a relaxing weekend with my husband and my sister-in-law and his husband.
The nature and landscape are beautiful. If you want to relax, this place is for you. Very good and polite service. Very personal treatment in the spa. Relaxing walks in the park and forest.
The hotel is not excactly wheelchair accessible, but the staff did their best to make our stay comfortable. We did not have problems with moving with a wheelchair.

Vihula Manor is great place to relax, just rest and enjoy! Vihula has some very beautiful buildings and surroundings. We visited during the winter and, it must be at least as nice or even better during summertime. Vihula has some nice restaurants and spa services also available. Highly recommended!

We spent Friday night up to Saturday morning in Vihula as a little escape together with my husband, just the two of us as a break from all the daily routines we usually enjoy.
It is very nice to find oneself in such a different world just about a 1-hour-drive away from Tallinn, the capital on Estonia.
Probably we did not get the whole idea about the possibilities of Vihula as we were there just for a brief visit and I'm sure that spring and summer offer a lot more.
As for the Zen room where we lived, then, it was a surprise, that Zen means TV, computer as the extras that makes it Zen;) Could have done without these, for sure.
We loved the dinner in restaurant La Boheme, especially because of the excellent waitress we had.
I would reccommend some extra training for the whole stuff in order to get the really excellent level of client service I personally would expect from such a nice and different place as Vihula is.
Our conclusion for our get-away was, that it's a good idea to visit the charming places in Estonia that are just 1-3-hour drive away from our home and enjoy the high class possibilities these places can offer. It's a very good alternative to the so-called city trips to Europe. Besides all the positive emotions and memories, You definitely save time and money as well:)
