“Superb snorkelling”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014 via mobile

Another great place to stay when travelling to the Yasawas - would certainly come back here. The snorkelling and massages are reason enough! Plenty of things to do, great food, fantastic staff. Stayed in the 2-coconut accommodation - private room with shared ablutions. Facilities are clean and well looked-after. Truly enjoyed the school visit, which was a real eye-opener.

We stayed at the Octopus resort 2 weeks ago on our way home from a 34 night cruise on the Queen Victoria. By comparison we would definitely stay here again whereas not on the Queen Vic. again until we are at least in our 70's. Everything about this resort was fantastic! The snorkeling over the coral was a highlight along with the wonderful staff, food, and all the other aspects the other reviewers mention. The only thing I wished I had changed was to book a the bure on the beach rather than the garden cabin. We hope things stay the same till we go back!

Resort and the staff was totally out of this world! Food was fantastic! The trip for Sunday service at the local's village was outstanding. Peaceful and Tranquil are the *key* words to describe this resort. Ravi, the assistant manager is the *BEST* and is always attentive to your needs and special requests. The staff are friendly, always polite and accommodating. Snorkeling at the resort and the surrounding islands is a sight to behold with the the coral formations and fish species. Even saw and held a Puffer fish! Everyone needs to make this their first choice for a trip to Fiji!

Would definitely return here. Handline fishing, snorkelling, village visit, kayaking was a blast. The resort had their first ala carte menu while we were there, and they did a fantastic job. Splashed out with the romantic seafood dinner...there was not a lot of conversation as we were to busy eating. The staff were friendly and funny and made us feel welcome and relaxed.

Room Tip: Two coconut rooms were tidy but doors didn't have bug screens over louvres. Beds are provided wi...

Watch the YouTube video advert. It is an accurate summary of what you can expect. You get all that is shown and so much more. The boat ride to the island was fast and efficient. The bay was spectacular - a long stretch of white sand fringed with coconut palms and backed by spectacular green hills and mountains. We had a welcoming party singing us ashore on arrival and the friendliness of the staff continued throughout our stay. The staff are clearly very proud of their island and were sooooo eager to please, even apologizing for a short thunderstorm on one afternoon. Being a small resort, the staff remembered your name and made you feel like family. We had a beachfront bure that was definitely worth the extra. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The shower without a roof was a nice touch. The small 'foot baths' to wash of sand at each bure were so appreciated. Even with the cooling seas breeze, the many windows and a fan, it can still get quite hot at night. We had no problem with mosquitoes at all. The food range was large and catered for fussy eaters as well as for more adventurous palates prepared to try the local fare. The fish was consistently great. The last night of our stay they introduced a new menu, and it was the best we had - beautifully cooked and presented. We really enjoyed the sand floor in the restaurant! Our routine was basically sleep, read, eat, snorkel, and kayak. The latter two were amazing, as the coral is absolutely beautiful. There are plenty of other activities each day. We loved the visit to the local boarding school - a short boat ride away. The little touches, like the placement of fresh hibiscus flowers everywhere, including on top of hedges, just added to the enjoyment and made it such a special experience. One small negative - the guys in the activities hut were not the most cheerful staff compared to those elsewhere. All-in-all, the most relaxing holiday we've ever had. We were so sad to leave. It would be a huge tragedy if this resort was over-developed. It is perfect the way it is.

Room Tip: Beachfront bures are worth the extra for the views and cooling breezes. At $35 a bed, the dorm rooms...

Octopus Resort is truly the best place on earth. As soon as I stepped foot on the Island I felt at home, a feeling I find very important to experience when on holiday. Loved the food, staff, weather, activities, beach, rooms and the overall vibe. Will definitely be recommending it to my friends!

We stayed 8 nights and would have stayed a month. The staff are awesome in every way, the grounds and facilities are great with heaps on offer. This resort caters for a mix of ppl and you can either join in or sit it all out in your bure.

Room wise, Beachfront is best especially if you have kids (we took our 18month old). Food was more than adequate for quality and quantity. Extras were all affordable although i did get the impression the game fishing was a money maker and the hot-spots vehemently avoided. I don't blame them for this though. they have no fish left because of this kind of adventure on offer.

For transfers, the resort boat was certainly fine and the yasawa flyer ok but busy for my liking. Depends on your sea legs, weather and water confidence.

The staff is made up almost entirely of the local Matangali from Nalauwaki and their island is spectacular. Their generosity and kindness is unsurpassed and if you have kids, go here!

In fact, just go here and if you come away with anything to complain about just stay at home in future.

Dan, A special Vinaka to all the women, Mosese, Atu, Ameo and Kuki.

Room Tip: The rooms were all fine although some looked like they may have been fixed up recently. The higher n...
