We stayed here for two nights in early March 2014 and arrived late at night (delayed by stopping off en route to view the aurora) and in a high wind, so couldn't really see the landscape. Woke up and drew back the curtains to be greeted with absolutely stunning views - pretty much the norm in Iceland. The rooms are warm and clean but pretty basic. The bed wasn't the most comfortable I've ever slept in, and the pillow was about as thick as a piece of paper. However I can entirely forgive that due to the stunning location, friendliness of the staff and deliciously fresh, perfectly cooked fish. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again (although would be tempted to ask for another 5 or 6 pillows).

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay, both the aurora and the view from your window at Langaholt. We also feel honored for the way you describe the food here.
Just the other day we were wondering about the thickness of some of our pillows and we will be replacing those soon, so hopefully our guests will be happy with less than 6 pillows.

Kind regards,

Because of the less dining locations in Snaefellness, we stopped for lunch in Langaholt. Special place, unique experience.

We paid about 95 euros for 4 lunches. Maybe a little bit too pricey, but as i said there's not much around to have lunch or dinner, so there's not much choice!

Overall good lunch, friendly staff!

Hello,

Thank you for your time writing this review. We are happy you enjoyed your lunch and we hope you found Langaholt special and unique in a positive way.

Sadly there have not been too many places open during the winter in this aria, but in summer one can find quite a few restaurants and coffeehouses around. For the last few years, more places have been kept open year round so that’s heading the right direction.

Kind regards

We stayed here on a group tour of Iceland. Very impressed with how the place coped with 19 unexpected guests - our itinerary changed due to poor weather and road closures. The owner and his girlfriend are musicians who happen to also run an isolated guesthouse. He is a bit eccentric, it's not often you are cooked dinner by someone in chef's whites and a top hat! Our evening meal was stunning, we had cod fillet served with a pearl barley and Pernod sauce, superbly cooked.
Whole place is relaxed, quirky. The small bar does good local beer.
Our room was spacious, warm and nicely furnished. Only problem was lack of hot water in the morning. I haven't marked the place down on that, we were only there one night so put up with it without reporting it. The rest of it was so good I give it an excellent rating still.

Hello,

Thank you for the great feedback. It is good to be able to help out and we hope you enjoyed this part of Iceland. I think my brother’s top hat stores most of his chef’s talents (maybe).

There is a pump to keep up the water pressure, but if many shower at once the pressure can drop and we are looking into a different setup to deal with this.

We stayed there for 2 nights while exploring Snaefellsnes. The location is really great for going around by car, you will reach most of the spots within a 30 minutes drive.

The day starts with a nice buffet breakfast with homemade bread, cereals, jam,.... And don't miss the dinner! I don't want to bore you by simply repeating other comments, but we had on of our best there during our nearly 3 weeks on Iceland. OK - it's not pretty cheap, but it's worth the money having in mind the quality.

We got a a room at the end of the corridor, so we had a great view at the seaside. Don't forget top take a stick with you when walking down to the beach to "protect" yourself from the arctic terns - there's a load of them on the golf course. :-)

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the end of the corridor - they are clos to the sea, on one side you might even...

We saw the ratings of other traveler and decided to give it a try. The guesthouse is nicely decorated, the rooms itself more minimalistic. They are clean with private bathrooms. But the bathrooms are small and not modern as in other guesthouese with a similar price niveau. The food offered for dinner is really good. We ordered a 3 course dinner previous to our arrival via Islandicfarmholidays, but finally I feel it would be better to order a la carte (it was around 49 Euros per Person). Nevertheless it was delicious and that counts :-)

We had the same experience as the reviewer below. Stayed at Budir four nights, had dinner there our first night, it was fine, pricey, not spectacular. Met a couple (locals) who recommended Langaholt and we went the next night. Very casual and laid back. Sat outside at a funky table with a glass of wine until they opened at 7 and were very surprised at the quality of the meal. It was excellent. It's like a little country dining room. We were told it is the project of three former chefs from Budir, all of them talented and one the others referred to as "the genius." There is inspiration in the food. We ended up eating there three times, including one night when we spent the day driving in the fjiords and arrived at 9:15. They were no longer serving dinner, but the server offered us a bowl of fish soup - DELICIOUS - and we were happy. It's about a 10-12 minute drive on the main road from Hotel Budir. Do it.

I loved the ambience and comforts of Langaholt. Proprietor Thorkell (“Keli”) Simonarson and his girlfriend Rúna Björg Magnúsdóttir have created a warm, welcoming, funky and completely absorbing guesthouse on a converted farm. Keli’s father brings in fresh trout and char from a nearby lake and his mother fillets them and serves them immediately for breakfast or dinner(I have a video of her filleting technique on my website. It's a must watch!). Their artist friend Thordis Claessen has adorned their walls with some very unusual images reflecting local mythology. Langaholt also has a small golf course located right on their oceanfront property, which I did not try out. They are near to lots of good photographic locations. I have more on them in my blog: http://blog.lesterpickerphoto.com/2012/05/20/iceland-lodging/

Room Tip: I only stayed in one room, but a colleague stayed in another and we had similar experiences. I think...
