Reviewed 1 September 2008

This place is a hotel, timeshare exchange, and apartments for rent.

We checked in June 28, 2008. Only one person on staff, at the reception desk, spoke fluent English. Everyone on staff referred us to him all week long.

At the opening reception for time share owners, we were the only English speaking people there, except for one English guest, who came up to talk to us. He lived in Italy, had been coming to the resort for 20 years, and said we were the first Americans he had ever seen there.

We had a 3 room apartment with 2 bedrooms, bath, kitchenette, and living area and balcony. Sat TV had only 10 channels and only one in English.

It was very hot while we were there, but we could keep the windows open all the time in our apartment, and there were no bugs at all, even when we cooked. We used the pool daily, but you need to buy a cloth swim cap for 2-3 Euros if you don't have one-even men. Pool hours and most local stores are open 10-noon, and then 2 or 3 pm until evening. Lots of Europeans there did hiking, biking, and sports.

There was a kids sports camp there and one night they woke me after midnight with their noise in the room down the hall.

We went to all the nearby towns shopping eating, rode the nearby ski lift up the mountain, went to the cheese dairy, flea market, and had a great time. From river base of Alpe Cermis ski lift, we walked 2 miles to Maso Sorte, a farm restaurant. Had a great meal, drank wine with the owner, and he showed us his ham storage room filled with hundreds of hams.

Resort did require a 150 Euro cash deposit, which we got back on checkout. Had no map for room assignments, and multi level apartments were not organized in order. Made it hard to find them.

The locals bring clothes pins and hang bedding and laundry on balcony each day to air out or dry.

Nearby grocery store, deli, and bar at the resort were great. We had gelato every night after we cooked. Only ate in hotel twice-10 Euro breakfast buffet, and one dinner. Used the spa one time for a facial. Very nice.

RCI office is long closed up and abandoned.

I emailed the resort several times with questions before we went, and never got any responses to my inquiries.

Getting there by car is very windy and slow, uphill all the way.
Carano is 10 minute walk down the hill but 2-3 times longer walking back up. Cavalese is 3 or 4 miles away, where the ski lift is.

It was very different but nice.

Hit on arrival with a small-print surcharge of 60 euros per room for things which the brochure said was included anyway such as SAT TV (which barely worked) and the unwanted 'entertainment'. The spa was shut most of the day. The room was immediately above a club- so could not sleep till after midnight. The room was dirty, the wiring was a mess and at least one lampshade had burn marks on it. Off-hand staff and manager.
