“Extremely disappointed - no seaview as advertised ( and the owner insist there is) very very poor housekeeping”
Reviewed 16 May 2011

After reading the reviews on tripadvisor, I decided to book 3 nights at kavos. I must admit, Barbara, the lady boss is very responsive and she has given me some tips on my tour in Naxos. But the rooms are really terrible and I am extremely disappointed. I stayed in the honeymoon suite for 2 nights and in the normal suite for 1 night. When I first arrived at the HM suite, there were only stained cups, a spoilt electric kettle, only 1 bathrobe (there are 2 of us) no red wine (this was promised), no shower gel, no bedroom slippers (the floor is quite sandy), and no seaview (it was advertised on the website that we can see the sea even from the bed!) Barbara did apologise that the housekeeping was horrible but she insisted that there is seaview from the bed. Well, i you can indeed is the sea from the bed, but u have got to stand on the bed, and most of the sea is blocked by trees and buildings. However, the misery doesn't stop here... We slept for a night and the bed was so old that the bed spring was jutting out!!! We dis not sleep for the whole night. This is totally in acceptable. When we finally changed to the normal suite, there was no blanket and as we were back in our room late, the concierge is closed and we couldn't ask for a blanket. Then next morning when I told Barbara about the lack of blanket, she told me it was in the chest. This 'chest' is really well hidden and both of us couldn't find it! Barbara did not even show us where the blanket was when we checked in the room. she even blamed us for not looking properly. She did give us a discount on our rooms. Ur choice. 3 horrible nights with some discount or other hotels with better location, housekeeping and service.

We stayed at Hotel Kavos for 4 nights as part of a recent holiday. The hotel is made up of a series of apartments and villas in lovely landscaped gardens, with a central pool, bar and restaurant area. Our villa had two bedrooms and bathrooms and was very spacious for two. It would have been ok for four, although the second bedroom and en-suite shower room were both quite dark compared with the other. We had a well equipped kitchen area and could probably have self-catered had we chosen to do so. We did not find the seating area in living room comfortable but we had terrible weather for a couple of days so spent more time there than we would otherwise have expected to do - for most people on holiday it is unlikely to be a problem. In additional to outside eating space we had a lovely roof terrace with furniture and really spectacular views (we stayed in Villa Elektra). Our only real complaint was that the villa felt cold and a little damp when we arrived - caused by a combination of the weather and the early season (the hotel had only been open a few days). We had heating, so were able to remedy this within a few hours, but we felt it was disappointing that this had not been foreseen and dealt with before our arrival - it would have been been easy for the hotel staff to ensure the villa was properly aired. Breakfast is extra, but worth it - all food freshly cooked and of high quality. There was a fairly limited menu for lunch and dinner because of the early season, but the food was good. The hotel is located near Agios Prokopios, but not in the village itself - it is a 15 minute walk along the road or beach. The village appears to have good facilities (although many not open at the time of our visit). There is a lovely walk around the headland from the hotel. The hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful - all in all a perfectly nice base for our stay in Naxos.

I found Kavos Hotel, Naxos, a few years back and I keep going back again and again.
It has the most fantastic combination of self catering villas with all the benefits of a hotel-
simply the best of both worlds. Run by the charming Barbara you will feel so welcomed and
cannot fail to love the stunning gardens and magnificent views. The surrounding beaches are some of the best I have ever seen, miles of white sand, aqua sea and no seaweed !
Whats more there are now fantastic painting holidays so you can gain or improve a skill
while soaking the sun. Five stars to me...just keep the secret to yourself!

Having found Hotel Kavos on tripadvisor we booked directly using the hotel's website. All emails were replied to quickly and Barbara was very helpful with early travel queries etc.

On arrival at the hotel, we were all 'blown away' by the pool/views and atmosphere.

The pool area/surround enjoys a fantastic view out to sea and towards Paros. The landscaping/architecture is very Greek/modern. Good selection of loungers/sofas/parasols. Interesting shaped infinity pool, always clean and inviting.

We booked to stay in one of the detached villas with two double bedrooms, living room, kitchenette and two bathrooms. This is also had a roof terrace and separate private (breakfast) terrace. The decor was very tasteful and modern, everything worked, and was spotlessly clean. I was travelling with my partner and my two children. This room proved ideal as everyone had their own space but meal/chillout times could be enjoyed together. The views from our roof terrace were simply breathtaking, changing at every time of the day. Sunrise, sunset, midday. We spent many hours up there eating/chilling/drinking. It was like nothing I've ever had in a hotel before.

Breakfast is not included which seems a little bit 'tight' as the rooms are fairly expensive. However, once we arrived everything made up for this and we were more than happy. DIY breakfast in the room was very easy as there is an excellent shop nearby selling most things you would need.

We ate dinner twice in the hotel. This is served outside by the pool. Lovely atmosphere and good food which seemed as if it was all freshly prepared. I see a few people have commented about slow service, but to be honest, what's the rush? It wasn't the fastest but in my opinion it worked well and we enjoyed taking things at that pace.

Barbara, Sarah and all the staff make you feel extremely welcome, in a relaxed and unfussed way. Nothing was too much trouble, and in my opinion Barbara went above and beyond to help us out with some of our travel problems. This proved very very helpful.

A car/transport is essential in this location.

We had such a good time,we are hoping to return in 2011.

The Kavos hotel is one of the best hotels we have stayed in if not the best! The hotel has beautiful gardens, lovely rooms spacious and clean, the honeymoon suite is exceptional! The sunsets around the infinfity pool are amazing as well as the views over prokopios( the beaches are great here!). The food is excellent and the staff are lovely. Barbara and the Kavos team work very hard to make your holiday the best and they continually work to improve the hotel and the facilities year after year. Once you have discovered the magic of Kavos there is no going back!

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Kavos towards the end of September 2010 and we had a fantastic stay.

The studio room we had was modern, clean and comfortable. It had a comfortable bed in a raised sleeping area, a good sized bathroom with walk-in shower, a small kitchen, a seating/lounging area and a outdoor terrace with table and chairs. The room was stylishly furnished and had a light and airy feeling, this was our treat towards the end of our island hopping trip and we found it a wonderful place to relax and unwind.

The pool area at the hotel has fantastic views over the sea to Paros in the west and Ios in the south, the pool was a good size with lots of stylish loungers and seating around it, both in and out of the sun. The poolside bar had a decent menu and a good selection of cocktails. The staff at the hotel were all friendly and chatty (thanks Sarah, Vince and Barbara) and were always keen to help. The hotel is very well kept, the gardens, pool area and room all had a great attention to detail and were beautifully designed.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, it's a great place to relax and get away from it all. Highly recommended.

Attention to detail is obvious everywhere:
- around the stunning pool with stylish but comfortable poolside furniture and a cosy, shady poolside bar that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner
- in the lovely gardens surrounding the bungalows - lush with bougainvilla, roses, clematis, palms and other plants, even at the end of the summer
- in the bungalows themselves with their stylish and cosy interior.

The bungalows also have a little kitchenette, which means that you can make your own breakfast or simple lunch and eat it on your terrace if you don't feel like a meal by the pool.

The staff are very friendly and personable and did their best to make our stay comfortable and memorable - by reserving a hire car for us that was brought to and picked up from the hotel, by offering free umbrellas and beach mats and by giving tips on where to eat and what to see on the island. (If you are staying there and are driving around Naxos, visit Axiotossa, an excellent restaurant with local organic food on the road from XXX - CHECK!, which the Kavos staff had recommended to us).

The nice beach of Agios Prokopios is a 15-min walk away, but we happily whiled away quite a lot of time in the hotel, on the lovely little terrace with sea view outside our bungalow or around the pool that offers unobstructed sea views both to the south and the west.

The hotel was nice and quiet while we were there (in mid-September), with a handful of other guests only adding to the relaxed atmosphere. Tables and loungers around the pool were plentiful and we were always able to choose our favourite spot, regardless of the time of day, so mid-season seems to be a good time to go!

All in all, a wonderful experience and highly recommended!
