The rooms are on a second floor of a family house I think the family lives downstairs so I felt very safe coming and going in the evenings which is important to me as a solo female traveler. Also the cleaning lady is on the ground floor during the day and she keeps an eye out on things. The house is charming, Its to the right of the port, up a quiet narrow street lined with an art gallery, bookstore and restaurants, turn right when you near the end of the street it is right across the church. I found it after I was tired of staying at a tiny room in another establishment, i walked around and started a conversation with a nice fellow from Minos restaurant at the end of the port and turns out his son(Alexandros) runs the apartments.
For the same price that I was paying for my gloomy tiny room I moved to Alexandros, the rooms were twice the size and twice as clean, bathroom was large and spotless, and with the balcony that open out onto the quaint street it was more than twice as cheerful.
There is wifi but somehow i couldn't get it working, Alexandros did stop by when he found out and was very helpful but i couldn't get it to work. I asked the other guests they had no problems.
My room didn't have a kitchen but I hear they have ones with a kitchen. They don't solicit the tourist arriving on the ferries so that may account for why I found very little guest when I was there. Initially I had a very hard time finding a place to stay, I wandered around kotapola and asked the price and looked at many places, many were not available, too expensive, or too out of the way. I find Alexandros to be wonderful and a great bargain, I highly recommend Alexandros.
