“Tired”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2012

Greyton Lodge is being run down by the 2 gentlemen running the place. The rooms and lodge are tired and in need of a lift. The restaurant is closed apart from a basic buffet breakfast. The single rate of R525 is not good value (Sept 2012). In contrast, Greyton has blossommed with many good restaurants, accommodation options, Saturday market, leisure activities, walks, hikes, bikes, horse riding etc. There is also an active tourism organisation.

Old buildings (1933) which could do with a serious renovation.
Staff memeber who greeted us on arrival was lethargic and did not offer to help with the luggage or explain the amenities of the lodge.
The gardens are, however, beautiful though the rooms could only be described as utilitarian.
This establishment does not offer value for money.

The two chaps running this hotel were very welcoming but oh dear - they have let the property get very run down and shabby. This I could probably have forgiven them for but it was also dirty. The linen on our bed was patched and the bottom sheet on the bed was so old that there were obvious signs of stains on it - although it obviously had been washed. The grouting on the bathroom tiles was badly in need of a scrub and the shower curtain was manky. The facilities in the room were basic. I had to ask for a hair dryer. Altogether a disagreeable experience. The one good point was fast broadband (according to my husband)!

Very run down. Web site misleading. Very small rooms and bathrooms. Poor quality fittings and furnishings. Poor value for price. Would not recommend to anyone. Swimming pool green and dirty.

We like to express our dearest appreciation fo the wedding that Greyton Lodge hosted for our daughter for making it such a happy and memorable occasion. - everything went off perfectly without any hitches. The meal was superb and enjoyed by all our 90 guests with many compliments. All the staff and the owners were friendly and helpful at all times - this also added to the success of the weekend. We are sure that Greyton Lodge will enjoy future visits from number of our guests. As parents we could not have wished for a better venue and wedding celebration.

stayed at greyton in 1999 and enjoyed the b&b together with fine dining so that when we were in the area we decided to introduce our companions to the pleasure of greyton lodge.
it was a huge error of judgement.. the place had been taken over by 2 gentleman and sadly allowed to deteriorate bothin the physical standards and the quality of the restaurant.
rooms were badly decorated, our bathroom didn`t close properly and our companions shower didn`t work. the gardens were badly maintained, we know there is a water shortage, the evening meal was universally disliked and the attendant service for a most moderate breakfast wwas poor. I spoke to Villi in detail before we departed and he insisted that he couldn`t charge us for the meal (he did but we said nothing) the sunday market in Greyton was worth our detour
