Mosaic milkwood cottages is a perfect family retreat even in winter. The cosy fireplace makes for a great place for kids to play and fall asleep. Kayaking on the lagoon is fantastic way for kids to explore. The owners and staff friendly and accommodating and went out of there way to make us feel welcome. Spookhuis has been beautifully restored and obviously taken lots of money, love and energy! Self catering cottages make it easy and flexible for families with the option of picnic baskets from the Spookhuis kitchen and well as lovely lunches, cakes and hot chocolates by the fire. Would definitely recommend this as a family destination.

Room Tip: Duminy cottage has the best views....

Thank you for taking your time and writing this great review. I am glad that you and your family enjoyed our accommodation, service, food and activities. With Winter upon us we certainly love the cold evenings, gathering around the fire with hot chocolate, marshmallows and great wines from our cellar. It’s the owners’ hope that the 1892 Spookhuis will host our guest in comfort and enhance the enjoyment of the natural surroundings and at the same time change people’s lives through job creation in our area.

Looking forward to your next visit

What a wonderful place off the beaten track. The setting is idyllic - on the banks of the Hermanus Lagoon (like something out of Swallows and Amazons). We (family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 8 and 10) stayed in one of the luxurious Lagoon lodges with stunning views of the lagoon. Our friends (also a family of 4) stayed in one of the self-catering cottages (but food is served there if you want) which was also stunning. Simone and her team (particularly Vitalis and Vivienne) could not have done more to make us feel welcome and comfortable. There are lots of fun activities planned to keep the kids amused but brilliant for all ages - kayaking, quad biking, nature walks, sunset trips to the beautiful Walker Bay beach, complete with huge sand dunes. The food is second to none and the team made a fabulous 'Xhosa' hut birthday cake for our daughter's 8th birthday. This is a must-do destination for families.

Thank you for sharing your special memories of your stay here at Mosaic with us. Your positive feedback and compliments with regards to the food and service will be passed on to the Mosaic family. It was a privilege to celebrate your daughter’s birthday with her. Gift will be so thrilled to hear that his cake made a lasting impression. We do hope to welcome you back at Mosaic in the near future.

Thank you

I have just gotten back from my last African destination which was the Mosaic Farm Lodge just a few minutes outside of Stanton. My hosts, Simone & Marcelinas could not have done more to enhance my stay. The place is a true treasure, luxury, outdoor shower (I loved it!) the food that chef Gift prepared were outstanding and lunches at the Spookhaus were memorable. I spent a few hours in Stanford just poking in and out of each shop, quad biking with guide Vitalis, nature walks along the lagoon etc etc. Also, they make their own mustard pickles, jams & compotes--and the fudge is to die for. All for sale to bring home.

Room Tip: The individual lodges are all close to the main lodge. All the rooms have wood chip burning fireplaces--ooooohh!

We are so delighted you found Mosaic Private Sanctuary to be a true treasure and enjoyed everything about your stay with us: the luxury, outdoor showers, our food, and of course our delectable fudge! We make everything we can homemade; it is so much better that way. Thank you for for writing about your experience with us and we hope to see you again soon!
Kindest regards,
Kathryn and the Mosaic Team

A perfect getaway with a very personal touch. In the middle of nature: cranes, herons and fish eagles can be spotted from the lodge and we got easily used to ihe "oohooh" of the owls at night. Exquisite dinners in front of the fireplace and great service. Our guide Vitalis took us out on nature walks, a tour on quads, a boattrip on the lagoon and a landrovervtrip through the sand dunes. Had the weather been better we would have taken out the kayaks.
Our private cottage viewed the lagoon and offered lots of comfort, style and ambiance as well as privacy.

Room Tip: Cottage nr. 4 offers the most privacy.

Thank you for taking your time and giving us feedback. We are very pleased that you enjoyed our setting, service and cuisine. Our location is undeniably very special, mountains, water and fynbos habitat that attracts a plethora of birds to our area for our guest to enjoy
I am glad that you could join most of our nature based activities despite the bad weather. We are experiencing windless summer days in autumn at the moment and maybe next time, we can take you out on a kayak trip.

Regards

Our family of 6 spent a couple of nights in one of the self catering units. WOW!!! It was absolutely incredible. Beautiful, high quality everything!! Lots of little extras that just are great. Food fantastic, service incredible, activities great. Our youngest is 7 and oldest was 16 - things to do for all of them. Only regret - we should have stayed a week it is so awesome. Thank you Mosaic!!! When next in South Africa we are coming back!

Thank you for your wonderful review of Mosaic and we loved having your family!! It so was great to see all ages enjoying the outdoors and our activities. The weather certainly cooperated, as it does this time of year. We appreciate your good comments about our food too. Our chef and kitchen staff are great and love to please. We hope you will return soon and as you said, stay longer. There is so much to do right on Mosaic and also in the area and a week is about right!
Kindest regards,
Kathryn and the Team at Mosaic.
