“Great value for money, recommended for people looking to relax”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2009

We've been at Green Villa now for 5 nights and staying longer. I saw a bad review on this site and think people whinge way too much. Disgusting it was called....Maybe that person is a tight a$$ snob looking for 5 star accommodation for Au $14 (THB 400, some as cheap as THB300) a night? Get over yourself. The place is fine. Great clean pool (cleaned daily) as is the garden, 5 min walk to the beach, nice restaurant/bar with prices between what you get on the street and in a restaurant (beer is too expensive though), food is great, room gets cleaned every day without us asking, linen every 3 days and possibly daily if requested,
the room is very basic, but clean (for thai standards at least), no bugs (let the geckos live, they clean the bugs up if there is any!!!).
Staff is not very outgoing and most only speak basic english, but all are friendly and very helpful.
We looked around other places with similar prices (on tripadvisor and sawadee) and checked them out, but nothing was overall better than this.
Downsides: low water pressure in shower, hard bed, can't pay with credit card.
Overall: great value place to chill out, get away from the hussle of Chaweng and Lamai in a nice garden setting, would recommend it

I FIRST WANT TO SAY DO NOT TRUST THEIR WEBSITE! THE PICTURES ARE ALL VERY MUCH OUTDATED AND THEY ONLY PRINT THE GOOD REVIEWS AS I LEFT ONE AND WAS EMAILED REGARDING MY DISAPPOINTMENT, HOWEVER MY REVIEW NEVER MADE IT TO THEIR WEBSITE!!!!!!

Myself and my partner were supposed to stay at Green Villa for 6 weeks, however when we arrived here after a long days travelling it was simply disgusting!!! When we first got there i was about to hand over full payment for our stay but the girl on reception showed us to our bungalow and told us to settle in first then go back and pay. Luckily she did this as the second we stepped into our hut we wanted to turn around and walk back out of there!! We had previously stayed in basic backpacker accomodation so weren't expecting much to start with and although we had just reserved a basic bungalow at Green Villa i wouldn't even have let a dog stay in there. Firstly the lock on the door was broken and was only lockable with the aid of a padlock, it looked as though someone had kicked the door in. The patio which looks lovely on their pictures was tiny, one person had to climb over the table to get to their chair although all of the furniture was actually broken anyway! Inside was even worse, there were ants crawling all over the bed, numerous holes in the walls which were stuffed with tissue paper and no where to put our things as the room was just about big enough to fit the bed in and open the door. The bathroom was just filthy with cockroaches running across the floor and they have used a line of bricks with spaces in them like what would be used for decorative purposes in a garden wall so we could see the person in the next bungalow in the shower!!! The location is also terrible, it is down a back street which was pitch black with a number of big, barking dogs running wild! It is also a lot further from the centre of lamai than what it says on their website, the centre is up a long hill and as in most of Samui there are no pavements. From what we saw that night the bar/restaurant looked filthy as well. Needless to say we didnt even stay for one night we left our big rucksacks, took our smaller ones and went out into the dark desperately trying to search for a room for the night and the next 6 weeks. This was when we came across Baan Karnjana-a gem of a place that was practically perfect in every way. So the next morning we went back to Green Villa, picked up our bags and took the key back to reception. The girls there were not surprised in one bit when we said we would not be staying, which says it all really!
