We stayed at Chaulty twice during a span of 2 weeks. After just a few days at the guesthouse and in Lamai, we fell in love with the whole area. Steve, the owner, is a true host. The guesthouse is about a 10 minute walk to the stunning beach, but Steve is more than happy to give you a lift into town. He did this nearly twice a day for us -- once in the morning as we headed to the beach and once again in the evening for dinner.

The guesthouse itself is clean and comfortable. A/C and satellite TV were nice. Bathrooms more than clean and the beds comfortable. Rooms were cleaned every day, and breakfast was good. We were introduced to true English tea and traditional English breakfasts, complete with ingredients imported to Thailand. There's a nice pool, a small bar area and a pool table to pass the time.

When he wasn't arranging breakfast or taking us to the beach, Steve was a wealth of knowledge for information about the area. He pointed us to a small Thai restaurant (Jeerapa) that had some of the best Masaman curry we've ever had. And he showed us where to find cheap drinks and good pub grub when we weren't in the mood for Thai. Because of his connection on Samui, Steve has tons of connections with local bars and hotels that he's more than willing to share with his guests. That's one of the reasons we opted to spend an additional three days on Samui instead of Koh Phangnan. Plus, on our second arrival, Steve upgraded to a bigger room at no extra charge.

If you book at Chaulty, you're getting more than just a room. You're getting transport, information and hospitality. What more do you need?

My mate and I spent 6 nights at Chaulty Towers in August and would have loved to have stayed a lot longer. It was exactly the type of quaint, relaxed and laid back type of accommodation that we were after, often spending an evening sharing an ice cold Singha by the pool with our fellow guests. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and are fitted with cable tv and a very effective AC. There is also a good sized swimming pool, jacuzzi, bar and eight ball table located just metres away from each of the five rooms. Steve the owner is a top bloke and an outstanding host, possessing an intimate knowledge of local haunts (had a few cracking nights out with this fella!!) and a strong command of the language which helped enormously. He also cooks a fabulous full English breakfast for those of you after a temporary respite from the local cuisine and is always quick to offer a lift into town / beach, which is otherwise a pleasant 10-15 minute walk. What sets this place apart from other places I've stayed is most definitely it's atmosphere, which is down to the personable approach adopted by Steve, the quiet setting of the location and the like mindedness of the guests that stay here. In a nutshell: quality accommodation at a modest price, fantastic host in Steve, unforgettable trip in Thailand!

We contacted Chaulty Towers the night before we were due to fly into Koh Samui and my fiance and I were very happy we had managed to get a room. We stayed in the apartment for 2 weeks, although we had only intended to stay for 5 nights!! So that's how much we loved it!
The apartment was such luxury after 5 weeks of travelling Asia! It was very clean and the room was cleaned and the beds were changed daily. We had a our own private balcony which was the perfect sun trap all day. The hot tub was fantastic after a busy day to relax by the bar!
Steve the owner is a great, friendly character and his family are lovely!
Steve told us places to go to eat which were never disappointing and great value for money! He also took us into the town and to the beach which saved us ALOT of money in taxis! And for a small fee he took us to the top of the mountains to the paradise farm which was fantasic! We loved it so much we are going to bring 10 of our friends Over next year when we return to Thailand after our trip! As there are other double villa rooms available we'd have the place to our selves!
Thanks Steve for a great time, you made our stay in Ko Samui!! :o)

This comfortable little family run hotel is just mins from Lamai Town Centre, Steve has some Basil Faulty humour about him, with his Thai wife and family they are very welcoming.

My ground floor room overlooking the pool was large and set up as a small suite, not expensive, adjacent to a nice cozy bar, jacuzzi, entertainment area. All was quiet at the time I was there, but with the right guests I think it could be a real social gathering spot, especially as the governor is such an affable guy.

Clean, tidy, well worth a look, the English Breakfast is fantastic on the terrace overlooking the pool, no stuffy breakfast bars and processed buffet food here. Take a little more time and you get a gourmet breakfast served hot, endless tea & coffee, great!!!

Before I booked in I saw trip adviser reports that said people booked in for a few nights and decided to stay longer, I now understand why with this fantastic husband and wife team.

Room Tip: Smaller complexes are better and give more personalised service and you meet the most interesting people.

Me and my girlfriend booked in here for 2 nights and ended up staying for 5! The owners are awesome and bend over backwards to make your stay a breeze. The location is great, it's about 10 mintues walk from the beach but you'll barely walk it as Steve will always offer to give you a lift.
We hitched a ride with Steve over to Bo Phut to have some drinks and hear him bang out some soft rock on his guitar, classic night!
