I can definitely endorse the positive reviews submitted by other guests.
Steve and his wife are perfect hosts and generate an intimate, warm family environment and atmosphere. Given a days notice, a wide range of a la carte breakfasts to suit all tastes are available.
The six rooms closely surround a central pool but despite their close proximity, there was no problem with privacy or noise, and the free Wifi connection was trouble free. My spacious and well equipped room was consistent with a 3/4 star hotel !
Unfortunately Steve could only accommodate us for 3 nights, but via his local contacts was able to provide us with rooms at an attractive beach side hotel in Lamai at a very acceptable price.
Steve is a well known singing performer in Koh Samui, working with Noy,an exceptionally talented electric guitarist. Steve is usually able to provide free transport to and from his various performing venues, an opportunity not to be missed.
The 10/15 minute walk into downtown Lamai was a small price to pay for a memorable stay at Chaulty Towers. However, Steve was often available to provide free transport, and motorbike rental from Steve is a cheap and less strenuous alternative to walking into town.
Don't hesitate to stay at Chaulty Towers !

Steve runs a great hotel. Not far from the beach, the rooms are clean, breakfast is delicious. The AC is great, the WIFI is reliable, and couldnt ask for a better room. Steve is great, will pick you up from the airport for 400 baht, and rents his motorbikes out cheaper than others in town. He is a great source of information for anything on the island. Its a quiet hotel, 20 mins walk from the beach, but far enough away to have any noises late at night. Highly reccomend this place. Safe deposit box, tv/dvd player, and a pool with a bar that is always stocked!

Most of the following you will have already read here on Tripadvisor for ‘Chaulty Towers’ and we can honestly say that all of the positive reviews are well deserved.
We stayed with Steve at the ‘Towers’ for the week 11th-18th Feb. As previously agreed Steve picked us up from the airport and en-route gave us a helpful and informative brief on the Island, as it was our first trip.
Upon arrival we were shown to our room which was poolside, well cleaned, containing everything as advertised including air-con, fridge, TV, DVD, Sound System, Room Safe, and a good sized bathroom (which throughout our stay never failed to have hot water).
As Steve left us to unpack and get sorted he said to give him a shout in about half an hour or so and he would take us for a quick drive around Lamai so to give us our bearings and also point out a few of the local attractions and restaurants, which he did and proved very helpful.
Chaulty Towers is approximately a 10 minute walk from Lamai, but it is a pleasant stroll taking in seeing the local going about their daily business and also the training in the local Muay Thai Gym. Whenever about and if he saw you going out including most evenings Steve would always offer a lift into Lamai which was appreciated.
As in other reviews we had 3 great nights out at Steve’s recommendation, including and not to be missed the Saturday night at the Muay Thai boxing in Lamai, and also a BBQ at a local hotel by the beach where Steve and Noy were playing, and well worth seeing. Again Steve was more than happy to drive us both there and back at the end of the evening. Later during our holiday after we had moved on to Bohput we visited another bar that Steve and Noy were playing in along with many other artists and again had a fantastic night.
We were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay at Chaulty Towers by Steve, Or, and the lovely Sarah, and given the impression that nothing was too much trouble which was very refreshing and very much appreciated.
We stayed in the ‘Standard’ room which is the smallest of the 6 rooms and it was ideal for our needs, I did get shown one of the bigger rooms which contained even more comforts…………....maybe next time !
If you need advice on Trips, hiring a scooter, restaurants, bars or anything really we found Steve to be a wealth of information, including usually the best and cheapest way to do it.
The pool was very clean, and alongside it a Jacuzzi. There is a poolside bar and as explained by Steve ‘I run an honesty system so just help yourself when you want and then settle up later’ again very refreshing to be given that trust as a guest………..well we felt you arrived as guests and departed as friends !
During our stay we were well looked after by Steve and Co. met some really nice people (hi to Pam and John if you read this), and have some very fond memories of our holiday…………..Thoroughly recommended and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We had the smaller 'Standard' room which was ideal for us but the larger rooms had more of a...

We had a great few days at Chaulty Towers - I can only go on to reiterate all the good points already mentioned and to agree with what a great Host Steve is!! He very kindly booked our trips and Taxi/Ferry Transfers for us which was a great help. He came back when we arrived to drop us into Lamai and showed us some great places to eat. We were advised by friends before travelling not to stay on a resort as we would not see the 'Real Thailand' and I can now say I wholeheartedly agree. Steve's small but very comfortable Guest House is a great place to stay. We had some great evenings at the Poolside Bar which works on an 'honour system' which is a great idea and met some lovely People!

If you are considering booking I would say don't hesitate you will not regret it!! We arrived as Guest but soon felt as though we were staying with Friends.

Big thank you to Steve and your lovely family for a great stay

PS. He does the best full English Breakfast in Koh Samui :)

We stayed in the "Towers" apartment for four weeks and enjoyed every day. The atmosphere and informality makes it a great place to stay. As previously mentioned, it is away from the hustle and bustle of the main Lamai centre but only 15 minutes walk to the nightlife (only 10 mins to the nearest beach). The reputation of Steve is totally deserved. Always offering to drive you here, there and everywhere. Full of local information and knowledge (check your travel plans with Steve first, he may know better). Certainly go with him when he is gigging at a local venue and enjoy a night of music - Steve and Noy are very much worth seeing.
The apartment has its own balcony with sunbeds, Table/chairs and large parasol overlooking the pool. The kitchen in the apartment isn't particularly well equipped but you would be a fool not to take advantage of the prices and quality of the food outlets in Lamai.
I'm sure that you can find cheaper guest houses in Lamai but you will struggle to find one that competes so well on the things that make a holiday special.
We had a great time at Chaulty Towers and thank Steve, Or and little Sarah for making us so welcome.

Fancy the cleanliness of a five star hotel with a private pool, jacuzzi and intimate bar but the friendly atmosphere of a guest house? Do you want to be within walking distance of the night life yet actually quiet at night? We did and stayed for two weeks not wanting for it to end. Enough said and superb value for money. You just can't go wrong!
